A SPRINKLE OF SPRING 2026’S OFFSEASON! WOW, did the spring of 2026 go by fast!

Please take a look at everything OWUFH did and accomplished if one semester! We worked hard and had fun doing it!

We are excited for the summer growth and hope to see you at a game in the fall!

SEMESTER RECAP The team arrived back on campus in the middle of January and we held our fall season banquet at Merrick Hall. During the banquet, we had dinner and presented the team on the special awards that they each voted for! Take a look at the results: Silly Goose Award- Avery Slucher Fan Fave Awards- Alyssa Markell Swag Master Award- Susie Benincasa Ray of Sunshine Award- Ava Zimmer Exemplary Teammate Award- Alyssa Markell Hardest Worker Award- Emma Reynolds Most Improved Award- Annabel Fauver Defensive Award- Katie Conway O ensive Award- Grace Ammon Dependable Award- Catherine Kent and Alyssa Markell Goal of the Year- Mary Powers VS Denison These awards have been a really fun addition to our end of season banquet and have allowed us to acknowledge and appreciate members on our team in di erent ways.

The semester started moving along, classes started flowing, Freshmen started rushing and joined sororities, the team got back in the weight room with Coach Glass, and we started our spring season practices!

Coach Jon and Coach Semit attended multiple recruiting events in the spring, to name a few of the major ones: Winter Escape, Sunshine Showcase, NIT’s, Shooting Star Easter and Shooting Star Jamboree! We hope to see some awesome commits in the coming months!

DALE BRUCE AWARDS

In April, we celebrated our student-athletes at our annual Dale J. Bruce Awards.

Six of our student athletes were recognized at this awards Ceremony!

We had four students recognized for the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. Those individuals are Juniors, Grace Ammon, Annabel Fauver, and Catherine Kent and Payton Mindel. Chi Alpha Sigma requires a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.5.

Sophomore, Izzy Fry was awarded member to the Top 50, an award that is determined by the 50 highest GPA’s of current Sophomores, Juniors and Senior student athletes.

Lastly, Senior Alyssa Markell closed down the night, receiving three major Awards!

The first award being the Nan Carney DeBord award, which goes to the best allaround Senior female student athlete.

The second award was the Top 10 Award, which recognize the contributions to Ohio Wesleyan University as an athlete but most importantly the accomplishments o the athletic field. Alyssa’s leadership, dedication and commitment to upholding the highest levels of integrity are what makes her special athlete at Ohio Wesleyan.

Lastly, most prestigious award of the night, The Presidential Award, was also awarded to Alyssa. We couldn’t be more proud! This award recognizes athletic accomplishments, academic accomplishments, qualities of leadership and service to the university and the community.

COMMITTED WEEKEND

A er Spring break, we held our committed player weekend! We are proud to announce our six incoming Freshmen, Ireland, Savannah, Emmerson, Hayley, Madeleine and Elizabeth!

We did a an awesome signing day with the incoming freshmen, some team bonding, a scavenger hunt and supported the women’s lacrosse team as they played a game!

WHY OWU

SPRING ACTIVITIES

Our spring season was packed with a ton of fun!! Our team did a lot of exciting events, take a look!

Above, you’ll see our team supporting Junior, Payton Mindel, at one of her concerts in the spring. Way to go, P! We are also huge advocates of going to cheer on our fellow teammates, Morgan Leeper and Emma Reynolds on the Lacrosse team. They are rockstars!

To the Le , check out Freshmen, Abbey Gordon, doing one of OWU’s long time traditions, sledding down the Smith hill!

Here you’ll see our team at the Delaware Dream Center, helping out the community. The Dream Center helps to meet the immediate and long-term needs of individuals and families struggling with addiction, homelessness, poverty, and trauma.

Everyone LOVES Typhoon, right? Outside of our typical McTuesdays, theres a new day in town. Thursdays are for Typhoon!

Team member, Jane Shields began working at Typhoon this spring and was always entertained by teammates stopping in. Don’t worry, they gave her a good tip!

Above, another longtime tradition of OWU, are the Bishop Games! Bishop Games is a field day for athletes with special needs to showcase their talents through fun competition. Ohio Wesleyan varsity athletes come together to provide a community service project that unites both the OWU campus and the surrounding community. We work to serve those with both mental and physical handicaps to ensure an experience that will highlight individual's abilities and talents. The event is for anyone of 8+ years old.

When we are not playing field hockey, we are challenging ourselves in other ways. Last year we played spike ball and basketball. This year, the girls took their talents to the Pickleball courts!

Staying active while having fun with friends! Eight OWUFH members, 2 coaches and 6 players, ran in the Columbus Half Marathon while team members and families when to cheer them on!

A huge shoutout to Sophomore, Emma Reynolds and Freshman, Morgan Leeper on their Lacrosse season!

Emma Reynolds was named to the 2nd Team all NCAC and Morgan Leeper was named to the 3rd Team all NCAC! Morgan also had 100 Career saves this season!

ALUMNI GAME

We were all smiles for the Alumni Game and Alumni Weekend! It was a tough battle this year, but the Alumni beat the current team in the last few minutes of regulations!

GRADUATION

A bittersweet Saturday. On May 9th we watched and listened as our Seniors received their diplomas, finishing their careers at Ohio Wesleyan. We are immensely proud of our five seniors, Emma, Quinn, Alyssa, Avery and Emma for everything they have done to make OWU and our program better. When people look back at this class they will remember their fierce competitiveness, determination to be better for each other and their ability to rise above adversity. Their legacies will be cemented in OWUFH and should be something that every class should strive to be like! We cannot wait to see how they continue to positively impact the people around them in their next chapter of life! We know there are even more big things to come for this group!

2026 FALL SCHEDULE

HOW CAN YOU HELP? As we move into the summer we always get questions about “how can I help!”

As seen in our 2026 schedule, this fall will be the most the team has traveled in a season, playing in 13 away games and only having 5 home games.

Playing away is challenging enough, but when the travel is not covered by our budget, it creates a completely di erent ballgame in terms of experience.

Anyway you’d be willing to support the team will be helpful, whether that’s attending a game if we are playing near you, o ering to pay for a team meal or tailgate, donating to help with hotel or bus costs, we appreciate it all! All acts of kindness are welcome!

When we travel we try to make it more than just going and playing field hockey.

We’ve played and visited some cool places to make the experience better for our student athletes. Some examples are Niagara Falls, Hershey Park, Northwestern and even our abroad trip to the Netherlands. If you ask the players that were able to go on those trips, they are some of their favorite memories!

We have a few players doing summer courses/ internships abroad right now and are LOVING their time being immersed into a new culture. We are currently in the process of planning our next abroad trip! Some of the possibilities are Germany, Spain, Ireland and possibly back to the Netherlands!
