Vadodara is the third largest city in Gujarat. Architecture in Vadodara has range from many well known traditional buildings to some contemporary styles as well. Our design was for the future of architecture students in India because of which contemporary styles with traditional building materials was considered as main concept. Design is based on fluidity in architectural spaces. Grand open spaces allows the human mind to wonder, imagine and think out of the box while smaller intimate spaces allow them to concentrate. A blend of both these spaces create the perfect environment for a budding architect.

Vadodara has hot and dry climate. orientation of spaces was done keeping climatic analysis in mind
Studios and admin- north south orientation, library, cafeteria and halls kept double height and auditorium facing the road intersection
The segregration of spaces is done in such a manner that semi-public, public and exclusive areas are intermittent.

Water Pavillion
LOCATION: MAIDAN, KOLKATA WEST BENGAL
SITE AREA: 480 SQ M

For the CP Kukreja Competition conducted by NASA India, the challenge was to design an intervention at a public space of national importance that would help encourage public interactions and conversations about India's struggle for Independence.
Our approach was relatively less technical and more creative. We wanted to design something that leaves a lasting impression through the architecture. Inspirations were taken from significant Indian architecture of waterwells or kund and Bhool Bhulaiya like colorful doorways. The ornamental lighting that creates a visual delight inside makes people wanted to peep through the doors and look in.

Site Context

Maidan is a well-known public park and urban green space in the center of Kolkata. Due to the freshness and greenery it provides to the metropolis, it has been referred to as the "lungs of Kolkata". It surrounded by many popular landmarks such as the Victoria Memorial, Fort William, Raj Bhavan and bound by the Hooghly River in the east. It is bisected by the Red Road that was built by the British to host large parades. Even to this day, parades are still conducted on this road on Independence Day.
Maidan is the perfect locaton for a pavillion centred around reminding people about the freedom fighters and struggles of people. The park is considered the historical and cultural center of Kolkata, as well as one of the city's most popular tourist attractions and a hub of leisure and entertainment for Calcuttans. This pavillion is an effort to attract visitors especially youngsters to this area.
The use of bamboo and jute in our design to make rotating panels is a simplistic approach to make Bengal goods popular to the masses that glorify euto-centric products to this day. This is a symbol of Swadeshi that many of our Bengal leaders had strived for during independence.
