The OnStage student field trip series is designed for students from public, private and home schools. The shows offer a diverse range of performing art forms, connect to content across the curriculum and present various cultural perspectives. To deepen the student experience, we provide Educator Resource Guides filled with curriculum-focused lesson ideas for each show. • Tickets for OnStage performances go on sale May 1, 2023. • Seats are $9 each for school groups, $10.50 each for homeschool groups. One complimentary seat is given for every 15 seats reserved, and subsidies are available for qualified groups. • All performances are 60 minutes; sometimes this includes a short talk back with the artists. • Includes a standards-based resource guide stocked with lesson ideas and curricular connections; sent one month prior to each performance.

The historic tradition of mariachi music has its roots of origin in cities such as Guadalajara and Mexico City. As the ever-evolving genre’s influence spread, it reached Chicago and birthed Mariachi Herencia de México. This energetic, virtuosic Latin Grammy-nominated group of young adults has issued chart-topping albums and performed across North America.

But with the help of a wise cricket, he finds his own song and dances to the beat of his own drum! In this stage adaptation of the beloved children’s book, with puppets, African rhythm and lots of dancing, Gerald learns that his differences are what make him special. Presented by the Bay Area Children’s Theatre and the Rose Performing Arts.

Arts, Language Arts, Social Emotional Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia brings “The Rainbow Fish” to life with their enchanting puppetry. The show includes an original stage adaptation of Marcus Pfister’s colorful story as well two of the author’s companion tales, “Rainbow Fish Discovers the Deep Sea” and “Opposites.” “The Rainbow Fish” will enchant even the youngest child with his silver scales and heart of gold in this award-winning book about the beautiful fish who learned to share his most prized possession.
