A Season of Fun & Friendship School is out, summer is here, and that means only one thing — fun for all! Every department has activities planned for the whole family all season long. From the Athletics Department, enjoy new private intensive swimming lessons with Swim SRQ Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Fridays with Coach Austin are the place to be for kids athletics. One Friday each month will feature Mat Ball, while another Friday will focus on our Kids Agility sessions. Your Assistant Lifestyle Manager, Noah, has a full lineup of events for you and your family. The SHUSH: Family Silent Disco on Saturday, July 11 promises to be a fun night out for all ages. Then, bring the whole family out for our Family Comedy Show on Saturday, July 18 at 6 p.m. for laughs everyone can enjoy. Family Karaoke Night will take place Saturday, August 15 at 6 p.m., giving everyone a chance to grab the mic and sing along.
Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about the adults! Summer also brings plenty of fun just for you. After the family comedy show, the 18+ adult-only act will take the stage from 7 - 8 p.m. at our Comedy Club. On Friday, July 24, join us for Ladies Night Bingo featuring pajamas, slippers, and bingo fun. Our next edition of Cooking & Cocktails returns in August, with more details coming soon. Lastly, grab your special someone and join us for The Board & Bottle Date Night on Friday, August 21. As always, thank you for making these events a success. Angel Ortiz FACILITY & GROUNDS MANAGER
B
orn and raised in the Bronx, New York, Angel made the move to Sarasota, Florida in search of a different pace of life and new experiences. One of the first things he noticed was the openness of the Florida sky, a sharp contrast to the crowded streets and towering buildings of the city he once called home. Angel began his career in property and facility management in his early twenties, building a strong reputation through dedication, hard work, and leadership. While he takes pride in his profession, what he values most is being a devoted husband and creating a meaningful life centered around family, passion and adventure. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Angel is a loyal New York Knicks and Yankees fan who still proudly carries his New York roots wherever he goes. Beyond sports, he has a deep passion for working on cars, especially his BMW M5. For Angel, rebuilding and improving engines is more than a hobby; it is a source of peace, focus, and fulfillment. His life took an even greater turn when he met and married his Venezuelan wife, who introduced him to a world of outdoor exploration, culture, and incredible food. Together, they enjoy camping, exploring Florida springs, off-roading, and embracing any
adventure that gets them outdoors. At home, Angel is welcomed daily by his two beloved cats, Raiden and Queso, who never fail to bring a smile to his face after a long day.

Furry Friends Meet OJ
LOVED BY JESSICA & LINCOLN STATES Meet OJ, also known as Orange Juice, OJ the Killer, and OJ Pickle Juice. The handsome orange furball belongs to Jessica, our Wellness Manager here at Skye Ranch! This furry little character keeps the States family endlessly entertained with his wild antics and largerthan-life personality. OJ’s favorite pastime is sunbathing in the window overlooking the preserve. Every morning around 6 a.m. (yes, even weekends), he performs his famous “cat opera” to get the household moving. Once everyone is awake, he demands outdoor time so he can hunt a lizard or two, though the family has learned to keep a close eye on him unless they want his latest catch brought inside as a gift! By the time everyone gets home from work or school, OJ is more than ready to play. Just beware of those killer claws! After dinner, he typically selects his favorite human lap and forcefully snuggles until bedtime, where he then attempts to steal a pillow for himself. OJ made the journey across the U.S. from Colorado alongside his late brother, Mufassa, a grey tabby who taught him all the important cat skills: how to loaf, nest, and, of course, sing cat opera. OJ was originally rescued from a veterinary office after being surrendered and housed next to a large, loud dog. To this day, he remains nervous around dogs, loud noises, and oddly enough, plastic grocery bags. One of OJ’s funniest quirks is his incredibly flexible tail, which
sometimes curls all the way over his head when he walks — only adding to his adorably anxious personality. Despite his fears and mischievous habits, the States family cannot imagine life without their silly, furry, lovable scaredy-cat.

Cooking & Cocktails Series:
The ‘90s came back in full swing! From denim to Dunkaroos, our Members celebrated like it was 1999. The night was filled with fun, friends, dancing, and plenty of nostalgia as everyone brought their best ‘90s style and energy to the party. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening unforgettable!
Food and fun took center stage as our Members learned the art of fresh pasta making with National Culinary & Experience Leader Marco Marini. Members enjoyed hearing about the history of Italian cuisine, the differences between store-bought pastas, and how to pair the perfect sauces with each dish. The evening was filled with great conversation, hands-on learning, and delicious flavors everyone could enjoy.

The Big Screen Bonanza! TOY STORY
“Andy’s coming!” Kids and adults alike enjoyed this classic Disney movie night featuring Toy Story. Members had the chance to meet Woody and Buzz, test their skills at “The Claw!” game, take part in the Woody & Buzz Shootout activity, and create their own Forky at the craft station. The café even served up pizzas straight from Pizza Planet, making it a night full of fun, laughter, and adventure to infinity and beyond.

The neon lights took center stage at the community GLOW Golf Cart Parade. Members showed off their creativity with unique cart designs decked out in glowing décor and bright colors. The evening featured a fun community drive-around, plenty of neon excitement, and an overall great night filled with laughter, music, and community spirit.

MASTERING EVERYDAY AI CLASS Monday, July 6 | 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. The Hub Mastering Everyday AI is a practical, hands-on class that teaches participants how to use AI as a personal assistant in daily life. Attendees will learn how to ask better questions (prompting) to get more useful results and explore a variety of AI tools for tasks such as writing emails, planning trips, and finding reliable information.

SKYE RANCH TALENT SHOW Friday, July 3 | 6 - 8 p.m. The Gathering Room It is your time to shine! We’re inviting participants of all ages, kids and adults, to take the stage and show off their talents in front of a live audience and our panel of judges. Each participant will have up to 3 minutes to perform. Whether you sing, dance, act, perform magic, or have a unique talent to share, we want to see it. We have a limited number of 20 performance slots available, so be sure to sign up early to secure your spot. If your performance requires background music, please include the song title and artist when signing up so it can be coordinated in advance. Prizes will be awarded to our top performers, with gift cards for 1st and 2nd place, and café credit for 3rd place.
ESCAPE ROOM: SPACE WARS, AN INTERGALACTIC ADVENTURE Friday, July 10 | 3 p.m. The Hub Your starship is failing and time is running out. With only 10 minutes to spare, you and your crew must solve the puzzles left behind by the captain to save the ship or face an astronomical demise. This escape room takes place in the Gathering Room and is designed for teams of up to 6 players. Each 20-minute time slot includes a 5-minute introduction and rules briefing followed by the 10-minute escape challenge. Time slots will run from 3 to 5:40 p.m., and participants must reserve a spot through the provided link on Clubhouse Online. This event is free. Kids must be 4 and older, and anyone under 14 must play with an adult.
BE OUR GUEST: PRINCESS STORYTIME & SNACKS Friday, July 17 | 2 - 3:30 p.m. The Gathering Room | $5 Join Princess Belle for an afternoon of tea, snacks, and stories. Kids are invited to dress up if they want and become her special guest for the day. Belle will read stories while kids enjoy treats and have a chance to take pictures with her. It is a fun, interactive story time designed for young children to enjoy and feel part of the experience.
KIDS HAND PUPPET MAKING Saturday, August 1 | 1 - 2 p.m. The Hub Let your creativity run wild! Children can choose from a variety of animal designs and use provided supplies to create their own puppet. Once your puppet is complete, take it home and put on a puppet show for family and friends. Fun, hands-on, and full of imagination!

Summer Salad with Corn, Strawberries & Avocado Cool off and stay refreshed by trying this light and delicious salad at home. Perfect for sunny afternoons, backyard gatherings, or a relaxing day by the water, this is packed with fresh flavors everyone can enjoy.

1 ear of corn, husks removed 1 long English cucumber, chopped 2 cups cherry tomatoes ½ avocado, cubed 2 cups fresh strawberries, quartered ½ cup fresh basil, chopped 1/3 cup crumbled feta Juice of ½ lemon 2 tablespoons olive oil Salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS 1. To steam the corn, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the ear of corn directly into the water or place it in a steamer basket. Cover and steam for 5 minutes. 2. While the corn steams, prepare the remaining ingredients by chopping the strawberries, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and avocado. Crumble the feta, chop the basil, and set aside.

3. Once the corn is finished cooking, carefully remove it from the water and allow it to cool for a few minutes until it is comfortable to handle. Using a large knife, stand the corn upright and slice the kernels off the cob into a bowl. 4. In a large salad bowl, combine the corn kernels, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and avocado. Top with crumbled feta and fresh basil. Drizzle with olive oil and fresh lemon juice, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss gently to combine. 5. Enjoy immediately or refrigerate for 30 minutes for an extra refreshing summer salad.
