Fall is in the air! The next two months are filled with exciting events, social gatherings, wellness opportunities, and seasonal celebrations designed to help you connect with friends, meet new neighbors, and make the most of community life. Whether you're attending a favorite annual event or trying something new for the first time, I encourage you to jump in and enjoy all that our Lifestyle program has to offer. One of the greatest joys of my role is seeing the friendships that grow and the memories that are created through our events. It's the laughter shared at a social, the conversations that continue long after an activity ends, and the strong sense of community that make this such a special place to call home. Thank you for your continued participation, enthusiasm, and support. You are what makes our community vibrant, welcoming, and fun. PET FEATURE / COMMUNITY STEWARDSHIP

Furry Friends Meet Tucker

LOVED BY SHANA WILLIE LEAD MASSAGE THERAPIST Tucker is a yellow Labrador who just turned 11 years old! He loves to “talk” and say hello to everyone he meets, usually with a favorite toy proudly carried in his mouth. Tucker became part of my life when I started dating his dad—and having a Lab definitely earned Dad some extra bonus points! Tucker’s absolute favorite activity is swimming. He can never get enough of the water, and the moment he jumps in, all of his listening skills seem to disappear! He becomes a happy, water-loving ball of energy who simply wants to swim, play, and have fun. Another special thing about Tucker is that he’s a Dudley Lab. While yellow Labs typically have dark noses and pigmentation around their eyes, Dudley Labs have lighter-colored noses and features. Tucker’s unique look, outgoing personality, and lovable nature make him one very special pup!

atch a glimpse of monarchs on the move. Head outside and see if you can spot monarch butterflies migrating through or over-wintering in your neighborhood! You might confuse monarch butterflies with other orange and black butterflies—the viceroy, and the queen butterfly. Learn to tell the difference and ways you can help monarchs and other butterflies year-round! Here are five things you can do: 1) Plant native milkweed; 2) Say no to pesticides; 3) Create a pollination station - butterflies love many colorful flowers; 4) Learn more about monarchs; and 5) Spread the word! MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

William & Collen Willis The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle team. to open a Willis Art Gallery. Esplanade offers exactly what we hoped to find: a beautiful home, wonderful neighbors, and an active lifestyle to enjoy together. What lifestyle programming are you most interested in? Bill and I are really enjoying all the lifestyle programming at Esplanade because it offers the perfect mix of social events, recreation, and opportunities to try something new. We've had so much fun embracing activities like Bunco, LRC, croquet and looking forward to participating in bocce ball. Even something as simple as Bill waving out the window as he works to neighbors as they walk by has become one of our favorite parts of community life—it really speaks to how friendly and welcoming everyone is here. We've also discovered that many of our favorite activities happen indoors. We've attended almost every wine tasting so far, and Bill is especially excited about the upcoming bourbon tasting. I love participating in the painting classes— they're always a lot of fun, even if my artwork is still a work in progress! One of the things I appreciate most is how easy it is to connect with people. Whether I'm enjoying a cup of coffee at The Venue or joining an impromptu board game after being invited by neighbors, there's always a sense of community and inclusion. The minglers and other social events have also been highlights for us. They provide a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends, catch up with familiar faces, and enjoy everything our community has to offer. We love that there's Why did you choose Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch?

Q A

Bill and I chose Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch because we wanted a community filled with people who enjoy staying active, having fun, and making the most of life. Throughout Bill’s career in sales, we’ve lived in several states, and this marked our 13th relocation—one we hope will be our last!

I enjoy volunteering at my grandchildren’s schools, both locally and in Ohio.

and car shows. We both love college football, especially when we can watch our son on TV as a back judge. We’re also Disney World Passholders, and Bill is a car enthusiast who enjoys taking his Corvette—affectionately called “Pop’s Race Car” by our younger grandchildren—out for a drive. What’s the best advice you’ve received or given? Bill and I have a simple motto: “When your feet hit the floor, it’s going to be a good day.” We start each morning believing it’s up to us to make the most of whatever the day brings. Things don’t always go according to plan, but we’ve found that approaching life with a positive attitude makes the journey much more enjoyable.

Some of my favorite adventures have been overseas. In 1999, my mother took me, my four sisters, and a sister-in-law to Ireland, creating memories I’ll always treasure. In 2011, Bill and I visited our youngest daughter while she was studying abroad in Spain, where she helped us experience the culture like locals. We also traveled to Italy with friends in 2014 and had the unforgettable opportunity to be in the presence of the Pope. Every destination has been special, but ultimately, it’s the people I’ve shared these experiences with who have made the journeys truly unforgettable.

Tell us something about yourself that may surprise people. Bill and I have known each other since we were 15 years old! We met on a blind date for a high school dance, and that first date turned into a lifetime together. We’ve now been married for 44 years and are grateful for all the adventures we’ve shared.

William & Collen Willis

We also come from large Catholic families in Cleveland, Ohio. Bill is one of 10 children, and I’m one of seven—and I have an identical twin sister! Growing up in large families taught us the importance of faith, family, and staying connected, values that remain important to us. Where is the most exciting place you’ve ever traveled to? That’s difficult to answer because we truly love to travel! This summer, I’ll complete my goal of visiting all 50 states, many of which I explored with my oldest daughter.

WELLNESS

Creative Ways to Stay Fit During the Hot Months

W

hen temperatures soar, it can be tempting to put your fitness routine on hold. However, staying active is important for maintaining strength, flexibility, balance, and overall well-being. The good news is that with a little creativity, you can continue working toward your fitness goals while staying cool and comfortable. One of the best ways to beat the heat is by taking your workouts indoors. Local recreation centers, fitness facilities, and community centers often offer group exercise classes such as yoga, Pilates, dance fitness, and strength training. These classes provide a comfortable, climate-controlled environment while allowing you to stay active and socially connected.

can also make exercise more enjoyable and help keep you motivated. Technology offers new opportunities to stay active from the comfort of home. Fitness apps, online exercise videos, and virtual classes allow you to participate in a variety of workouts ranging from stretching and balance exercises to strength training and cardio sessions. Many programs are designed specifically for active adults and can be adapted to different fitness levels. For those looking to add variety to their routine, try activities that combine fitness with fun. Dancing, pickleball, indoor cycling, bowling, gardening, and even active video games can help improve fitness while keeping exercise enjoyable. When physical activity feels like a hobby rather than a workout, it becomes easier to stay consistent.

Water-based activities are another excellent option during the summer months. Swimming, water aerobics, and aquatic walking provide a full-body workout while placing less stress on the joints. The cooling effect of the water also helps prevent overheating, making it easier to exercise for longer periods.

Remember to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, and listen to your body when exercising in warm weather. If you choose to exercise outdoors, seek shaded areas, take frequent breaks, and avoid the hottest part of the day.

If you enjoy walking, consider shifting your routine to the early morning or evening hours when temperatures are lower. Exploring shaded trails, indoor shopping malls, museums, or community centers can provide a change of scenery while helping you accumulate steps in a cooler environment. Walking with a friend or joining a walking club

Summer heat doesn’t have to derail your fitness goals. By exploring new activities, moving indoors when necessary, and finding creative ways to stay active, you can maintain your fitness routine, protect your health, and enjoy an active lifestyle all season long. The key is to stay moving, stay cool, and most importantly, have fun while doing it.
