As summer draws to a close and we step into the early days of fall, there’s a noticeable shift in the energy around our community here in beautiful Naples. With the return of many of our seasonal Members, we’re excited to welcome both familiar faces and new ones alike.
This is always a special time of year—a season of reconnection, renewal, and fresh beginnings. Our shared spaces are starting to buzz with activity once again, and we’re thrilled to see the community coming alive after the quieter summer months.
One particularly exciting highlight is the steady progress on the construction of The Venue and The Culinary Center. We’re pleased to share that everything is coming along beautifully. These new additions will serve as cornerstones of community life, offering expanded amenities and opportunities for engagement, connection, and enjoyment.
In the meantime, our Resort Lifestyle Team has been busy crafting a dynamic lineup of fall programming. From social gatherings and wellness activities to learning opportunities and seasonal celebrations, we’ve curated a calendar designed to offer something meaningful for everyone.

In this edition’s Team Spotlight, we’re thrilled to highlight two outstanding members of our Wellness Team – Sheneka Clark and Bill Clemens. Known for their professionalism, extensive experience, and unwavering commitment to our Members’ health and well-being, Sheneka and Bill play a vital role in fostering a positive, supportive, and engaging wellness environment. Read on to learn more about what inspires their work and passion for wellness.
Sheneka Clark DIRECTOR OF WELLNESS AND SPORTS
Sheneka brings more than 20 years of rich and diverse experience to our community, with a career that spans the full spectrum of the spa and wellness industry. Her impressive background includes leadership roles in luxury resorts, upscale hotel spas, medical wellness centers, and even spa operations aboard cruise ships. Sheneka has not only managed premier properties but has also successfully launched new spa concepts from the ground up—fine-tuning every detail to deliver exceptional, guest-centered experiences.
Over the course of her career, Sheneka has led wellness operations in a diverse range of destinations—including New York City, the Hawaiian Islands, the Arizona desert, Hollywood, California, and most recently, the Appalachian countryside. Her success across such varied settings highlights her adaptability and makes her a valuable asset to our growing team.
As a leader, Sheneka is deeply passionate about cultivating highperforming, guest-focused teams and is known for her talent in creating luxurious, personalized wellness experiences that leave a lasting impact. Her thoughtful approach and commitment to excellence shine through every aspect of her work.
Bill Clemens
ATHLETICS AND SPORTS SUPERVISOR
Bill’s career journey has been both diverse and impactful, beginning with his service in the U.S. Army during the early 1980s, where he was a member of the Military Police Corps and spent most of his time stationed in what was then West Germany.
Following his military service, Bill transitioned into law enforcement, working as a police officer in a Chicago suburb for 20 years. During his time on the force, he held multiple specialized roles including field training officer, evidence technician, juvenile officer, and tactical officer—each requiring a high level of responsibility, skill, and dedication.
After two decades in law enforcement, Bill made a significant career shift, becoming a business analyst for a company specializing in banking products. Yet his drive to take on new challenges eventually led him into the world of fitness. He earned certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and began working as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor. Over the years, he has helped a wide range of clients pursue their health and wellness goals, always emphasizing strength, longevity, and quality of life. Bill firmly believes that each day is an opportunity to build a more meaningful and rewarding lifestyle.
Originally from Chicago, Bill traded in his snow shovel for a beach umbrella six years ago when he made the move to Naples—a decision he’s never regretted (aside from navigating Hurricane Ian in 2022!). While he doesn’t sing or play an instrument, Bill is a passionate music lover and avid concertgoer. His musical taste is as eclectic as it is impressive, having seen live performances by artists as varied as The Who, George Strait, Ray Charles, Metallica, Itzhak Perlman, Florence + the Machine, Van Halen, Loretta Lynn, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Hall and Oates, Sting, Alabama, Jerry Lee Lewis, Beck, Chuck Berry, and many more.

Meet Jake & Max
LOVED BY JANICE & HOWARD LASKAU
Affectionately known as “The Boys,” Jake and Max are an inseparable duo full of personality, love, and charm. These sweet pups have been part of Janice and Howard’s family for the past eight years, and their bond is as strong as ever. Max is a 12-yearold Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix with a big personality and a watchdog spirit, while Jake, an 8½-year-old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/ Dachshund mix), is the sweet snuggler of the pair.
Their story began when Janice and Howard visited the Naples Humane Society with plans to adopt a single puppy. They met 4-month-old Jake, a recent arrival from Alabama, and were immediately smitten. But when they noticed Jake’s crate-mate, Max, pacing and clearly distressed, they learned the two had bonded during their transport journey and had become inseparable. Without hesitation, Janice and Howard decided to adopt them both, and it’s been one of the best decisions they’ve ever made.
Max sees himself as a German Shepherd-sized guard dog, keeping a vigilant eye from the windows, while Jake prefers to stay close to Max or his favorite human for a cozy snuggle. They share a sweet and social nature, only needing a gentle reminder now and then when their barking gets a little overenthusiastic. Their favorite treat? Chicken Chips — a crunchy snack they can’t resist.
One of their most endearing qualities is their love of dressing up for holidays and special occasions, and many of their friends eagerly await festive photos of “The Boys” to arrive with each celebration. With Halloween around the corner, the excitement is already building.
Jake and Max’s journey from shelter companions to cherished family members is a heartwarming reminder of how love — and the right home — can change everything.

THE CULINARY CENTER & THE VENUE
We made history with our Groundbreaking Celebration for The Culinary Center and The Venue, marking a major milestone in the continued growth and development of our community – and what a celebration it was! With our largest-ever event attendance, it was an unforgettable day filled with excitement, energy, and anticipation for what’s to come.
Guests were treated to a mouthwatering array of food and drinks that offered a sneak peek into the elevated experiences planned for the upcoming Culinary Center. From smoky bourbon cocktails to sizzling BBQ, classic sides, and delicious pizza, every bite and sip gave attendees a taste of the exceptional culinary experiences they can look forward to.
The event was truly brought to life by the outstanding live performance from The Ben Allen Band, whose music had the crowd dancing, singing, and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere. The combination of great food, great music, and great company truly captured the spirit of our community.
As we look ahead, we couldn’t be more excited for the future of The Culinary Center and The Venue – two world-class spaces that will serve as hubs for gathering, celebrating, and making memories for years to come. This groundbreaking is more than just the start of construction – it’s the beginning of a new chapter in our community’s story, and we’re thrilled to be building it together.

Cheers to a vibrant night of creativity and color! Each guest received their own wine glass along with a palette of vivid paints and brushes to bring their unique vision to life. Cooking & Cocktails Series: SMOKE AND BARRELS
This fiery edition of our beloved Cooking and Cocktails series turned up the heat with an evening dedicated to the bold, savory flavors of classic BBQ and the smooth sophistication of smoked bourbon cocktails. Members enjoyed a mouthwatering spread of expertly smoked meats, traditional BBQ sides, and rich, aromatic cocktails with a smoky twist—making for a flavorful and unforgettable night of Southern-inspired indulgence.

Our community came together in patriotic spirit for a fun-filled 4th of July Cookout that was bursting with flavor, laughter, and entertainment! Members enjoyed a mouthwatering buffet loaded with classic cookout favorites. The temporary tattoo station was a hit with Members of all ages, adding a splash of star-spangled flair to the festivities. And of course, the live DJ kept the energy high with a lively mix of tunes. 100% of the tournament fee collected per Member will benefit an organization supporting Breast Cancer Awareness efforts.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, register with your doubles partner and take part in competitive play on the courts with Members of your Esplanade community, as you enjoy live entertainment by our DJ, and light refreshments!
This 4-hour tournament will consist of a 1-hour, timed round-robin event for Men’s and Women’s doubles, and mixed doubles play. After the tournament, the top three doubles teams from each event will be recognized at a special awards ceremony.
Both men and women are encouraged to come dressed in their best pink pickleball attire, as we participate in a shared effort to raise money and end breast cancer. Spectators are also encouraged to wear pink and cheer on their neighbors!
Registration must be completed in person at the Resort Amenity Center during office hours. We hope to see you there!
