Fall is on the Way!
As the golden leaves of September begin to fall and the crisp October air starts to settle in, I wanted to take a moment to share what’s ahead for our vibrant community this season. Fall is truly a special time here. It is a season of reflection, connection, and celebration.
September brings cooler mornings, cozy evenings, and the perfect backdrop for outdoor gatherings. Whether you’re enjoying a brisk morning walk, sipping cider on your porch, or joining us for one of our upcoming events, I hope you’re finding time to savor the season’s simple pleasures.
In October, we are proud to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month with our annual Pickled Pink event. This fun and meaningful pickleball tournament brings our community together to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research and support programs. Whether you’re playing in the tournament or cheering from the sidelines in pink, your presence makes a difference.
This is a time for warmth, kindness, and community spirit. Let’s come together to make these fall months truly meaningful.

Furry Friends Meet Allie
LOVED BY LAURIE HEMION
Allie, the adorable toy schnauzer, stole Laurie Hemion’s heart and has been her constant companion since 2021. Born on May 8, 2021, Allie may be small in size but she’s got a big personality. Lovingly referred to by the Lifestyle Manager as the “guard dog” of the community, she proudly keeps watch. Her bark is much bigger than her bite.
Allie is all heart. She just wants a little attention (okay, maybe a lot) and will happily shower you with kisses. She doesn’t bite but she will lick you to death. She loves everyone in the community and never misses a chance to make a new friend. Whether she’s curled up watching TV with Laurie or patrolling the neighborhood with her tail wagging, Allie brings joy wherever she goes.

Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, Laurie Hemion has deep roots in the community she loves. A retired RN from Atrium Health, Laurie dedicated her career to caring for others and she continues that legacy through her active involvement in our neighborhood. As a Member of our Social Committee, Laurie is always ready to lend a hand or help bring neighbors together.
After the loss of her beloved husband Lloyd in 2020, Laurie found comfort and companionship in her sweet dog Allie. She has two wonderful children: her son Christian lives in Boone with his wife, and her daughter Michelle lives nearby in Concord with her husband. In her free time, Laurie enjoys reading, swimming, catching up on her favorite TV shows, and of course, spending time with Allie. We’re so grateful to have Laurie as part of our community. Her kindness and energy make a difference every day.

Aqua FITNESS
Members dove into fun and fitness this season with our energizing Aqua Fitness classes. The upbeat sessions offered a refreshing way to stay active, improve flexibility, and enjoy the sunshine. All of this while building camaraderie in the pool. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made each class feel more like a pool party than a workout.
Candle Making AT PADDWAX CANDLE BAR
Our visit to Paddwax Candle Bar was a glowing success. Members enjoyed a hands-on experience crafting their own custom-scented candles while learning about the art of candle making. The cozy atmosphere, creative energy, and unique keepsakes made this outing both relaxing and memorable.
Wine Glass PAINTING
Creativity was flowing at our Wine Glass Painting event, where Members turned simple glassware into beautiful works of art. With a glass of wine in one hand and a paintbrush in the other, the evening was full of laughter, inspiration, and a touch of artistic flair.

Every Sunday in July, our community came together to enjoy sweet treats, sunshine, and great conversation! Organized by our Social Committee, these gatherings quickly became a highlight of the week.
Yoga ON THE LAWN
There is something magical about starting the day with the sun rising over the grass, a light breeze in the air, and the sound of deep breaths syncing across the lawn. Members came together not just for movement, but for a shared moment of peace and presence. This yoga session was more than just a workout, it was a reminder to slow down, stretch out, and connect inward and outward. Thank you so much to Kris for hosting this.

INGREDIENTS
» 2 cups NOW Real Food® Turbinado Sugar
» 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
» 3 dropperfuls of NOW® Solutions Vitamin E Oil
» 6 drops of NOW® Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil
» 3 drops of NOW® Clove Essential Oil
» 2 drops of NOW® Nutmeg Essential Oil
» 1 drop of NOW® Ginger Essential Oil
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a small bowl combine the sugar and the pumpkin. Stir together until combined.
2. Add in the essential oils, stirring to combine as you go.
3. Apply a small amount to your skin, leave on for about 30 seconds and rinse off to reveal smooth skin! Store in an airtight container.
