I’ve been with Castle Group Management for two years now, and in that time, I’ve truly cherished getting feedback from residents, hearing your ideas, and bringing them to life through events that make Bellalago feel like family. Fall is a season that reminds us that change can be beautiful, nature, in all its wisdom, begins to shed the old, making space for what’s to come. In many ways, fall is a time of quiet rebirth. While spring often gets the credit for new beginnings, autumn invites us to slow down, reflect, and realign. It’s a season that encourages cozy moments, deep conversations, and intentional living.
In our community, fall brings a new rhythm — as we welcome a new member of our Castle Management team to the site. Irean Mitchell joined the team in September and has been charged with reinventing our community restaurant, Flip Flops Bar & Grille. Irean brings a wealth of Food & Beverage Management experience with her, and we look forward to new and exciting things to come – right here in your back yard! Check out the message from Irean below and help me welcome her to our beautiful community!.
HELLO FROM IREAN
My name is Irean Mitchell. Irean is pronounced the same way as the classic original “Irene” ... that’s a long story for another time, but when I meet you at the restaurant, I’ll tell you! I am glad to announce I have recently joined the Bellalago Community as the new Restaurant Manager at Flip Flops Bar & Grille. I am a newlywed and a newer resident to the state of Florida, but nonetheless I am home and a happy wife!
I was introduced to the restaurant & hospitality industry at the age of 16 years as a hostess at my first job at Olive Garden and by 23
was the Assistant General Manager at the very same Olive Garden I grew up in. I can’t Imagine doing anything else in my life! That brings me here today and I am fully committed to serve you alongside the team here at Flip Flops Bar & Grille. There is a feeling you get when you join a new team, and the same feeling you get when you leave that team.... It’s called “Admiration” so let us get to work and “fall back” together in time before the clock changes.
We look forward to showing off our NEW UPCOMING SEASONAL MENU! And wait until Jeramiah shakes up a NEW FALL SPLASH at the bar! While you are at the bar go ahead and ask how you can get your Flip Flops hung up high on our walls....if you dare! Did I mention a nice moon-lit night out by the lake with S’MORES? While we can’t tell you all our secrets at once, we will keep some surprises for the rest of the holidays after all, ‘Tis the season! Microplastics, Our Environment & Health

Present everywhere in our environment and bodies, microplastics (MPs) are solid particles less than five microns in diameter - much thinner than a human hair. Waste items like discarded plastics break apart, eventually becoming microplastics. These tiny broken-down plastics don’t dissolve in water and are harmful to all living beings. They’re especially harmful to fish and marine wildlife, which mistake MPs for food.
Plastics manufacturing and recycling operations produce MPs, which also are found in clothing, cosmetics, detergents, paint, drugs, medical supplies, rope, nets, and plastic bottles and bags. Over 700,000 tons per year of MPs infiltrate U.S. soil, and over 13,000,000,000 MPs per day are in wastewater and sewage. MPs are found in both bottled and tap water, beer, seafood, sugar, salt,
honey, even the air we breathe. MPs can release toxic chemical additives; they can attach to and concentrate toxic chemicals in the environment. For types of MPs, think “poly”: polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinylchloride, poly(ethylene terephthalate), polyamide, and acrylics. So, if you see “poly” as an ingredient in a product, you might not want to buy it!
In our bodies, MPs can be found in hair, saliva, respiratory fluid, lungs, liver, breast milk, placenta, spleen, kidneys, colon, feces and blood. Sadly, they’re even found in infants’ bodies. MPs can impair nervous system, metabolic, reproductive, liver, kidney and colon function. They can inflame the lungs and produce fibrosis in the liver. For these reasons, whenever possible, you’ll want to choose more environmentally-friendly materials.
