Spring Updates
Written by R. PAUL GIRARD, LCAM, CLUB GENERAL MANAGER
As we transition into the spring and summer seasons, I’m excited to share some updates and reminders about our Club amenities and events.
Over the next few months, we have several facility improvements and upgrades planned based on member feedback. We will be replacing the flooring at both Fitness Centers, removing the carpeting, and installing rubberized gym flooring. We will also be replacing the entrance doors at the Bellalago Amenity Center, Recreation Center, and Flip Flops. With the recent freeze, you likely noticed that much of our decorative landscaping did not survive. We will be replacing landscaping at both Amenity Centers and Recreation Center in the coming weeks. While there may be some temporary inconveniences during these projects, I’m confident these enhancements will improve the overall experience for all our residents.
*Or as scheduled for sanctioned clubs or special events 8:30am - 5pm
FLIP FLOPS BAR & GRILLE*
Monday & Tuesday
Wednesday & Thursday
Friday & Saturday
Sunday
*Subject to change.
Closed 12pm - 8pm 12pm - 9pm 12pm - 8pm
As a friendly reminder, all residents must have their access cards to enter the Amenity Centers, pools, and events. I encourage you to visit our friendly concierge staff at the Bellalago Amenity Center to obtain a replacement ID card if you are in need, so you can take advantage of our wonderful amenities during the warmer months ahead. Currently, replacement ID cards can be purchased with a check or money order for $5 made payable to Bellalago Club – but we are working on an online payment option for your convenience. Please stay tuned for updates!
In addition to our everyday amenities, we also have several community events and activities planned for the coming season. These include seasonal celebrations, fitness classes, social gatherings, and more. Be sure to check the community calendar and newsletter for upcoming details so you can participate.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Club Concierge team if you have any questions or feedback. I’m looking forward to a wonderful spring and summer here in our community.

The Hero in Our Hearts:
How a Turtle and a Technician Became Symbols of Community
Written by IVONNE MARTINEZ, CLUB MAINTENANCE MANAGER
In every neighborhood, there are stories that quietly shape the spirit of a community—stories of dedication, kindness, and the unexpected heroes who leave behind more than simple tasks completed. In Bellalago, one such story begins with a small turtle named Kimberly, a worn but beloved figure who spent years nestled in the Isles of Bellalago water park.
To many children, Kimberly wasn’t just a decoration—she was a friend. She sparked laughter, curiosity, and countless moments of childhood imagination. But like all things exposed to time and weather, Kimberly began to fade. Her once-bright colors softened, and eventually, she became nearly invisible to passersby. Invisible to everyone except one man.
A TECHNICIAN WITH AN ARTIST’S HEART
For over ten years, Kim N. Fout, a dedicated maintenance technician, served the Bellalago community with pride. Known for his paintbrush, roller, and unwavering belief that “a touch of paint can make anything beautiful again,” Kim approached every task with craftsmanship and heart. While preparing the water park for a new season, Kim noticed the faded turtle. Where others saw a forgotten fixture, he saw an opportunity to bring joy back to life.
He asked if he could repaint her, not just restore her, but transform her into something special. And he did. Kim painted her shell in a vibrant pattern using the same colors found in the park’s water features. His message was simple yet powerful: even when we are all different,
together we create something beautiful. Kimberly became more than a decoration, she became a symbol of unity.
A LEGACY THAT LIVES ON
In January 2025, the Bellalago community lost Kim; however, his legacy continues to shine brightly. From the freshly painted playgrounds to the carefully maintained parks and club amenities, his touch is everywhere. Kimberly the Turtle stands as a cheerful ambassador of his spirit reminding residents of the pride he took in his work and the love he had for the community. Each time children run up to her, each time a resident smiles at her colors, Kim’s kindness echoes forward.
BUILDING ON A FOUNDATION OF CARE
Today, Bellalago honors Kim’s legacy by continuing to care for the spaces he loved so deeply. The community is moving forward with numerous improvements, including:
» Replacement of damaged basketball hoops, backboards, and pole pads
» New pickleball nets for community courts
» Fresh paint for playground equipment and water features
» New swing seats for the recreational areas
» New gym flooring for both fitness centers
» Additional upgrades planned throughout the year
However, the heart of this effort extends beyond maintenance. It’s about teaching the next generation to value and respect the spaces around them. It’s about showing teenagers and young residents that the parks, courts, and amenities aren’t just “things,” they are pieces of a shared community, cared for by people who take pride in making Bellalago better.
A COMMUNITY UNITED
In every community, there are symbols that quietly remind us of who we are and what we strive to be. For Bellalago, that symbol is a small turtle with a vibrant shell and a legacy created by a man who believed in beauty, in purpose, and in the power of caring. Kimberly will always remind us that heroes don’t always wear capes. Sometimes, they carry paintbrushes.

Spring Has Arrived at Bellalago!
Written by MICHELLE THOMAS, LIFESTYLE DIRECTOR
Asthe days grow longer and the sunshine gets a little brighter, spring has officially arrived here at Bellalago and Isles of Bellalago. Spring is a season of renewal, fresh beginnings, and time spent outdoors with the people who make our community feel like home. It’s one of the most beautiful times of the year in our neighborhood, and with it comes a new season of exciting events, activities, and opportunities for neighbors to connect.
This quarter is filled with moments designed to bring families, friends, and neighbors together. We’ll be kicking off the season with one of our most anticipated events of the year which is our annual Spring Carnival at the Bellalago Boat Dock. With egg hunts, carnival rides, games, arts and crafts, music, and delicious food, it’s a celebration of spring that truly captures the joyful spirit of our community. Watching families gather, children laugh, and neighbors reconnect is what makes events like this so special.
As we prepare for the Spring Carnival, please note a few important guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. All attendees must present a valid Bellalago ID for entry. Driver’s licenses will not be accepted. If you do not have a Bellalago ID, please visit the Amenity Center prior to the event to obtain one. Residents ages 16–17 may obtain a Bellalago Minor ID; however, they are not permitted to bring guests. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Additionally, each household is limited to a maximum of four (4) guests. These guidelines will be strictly enforced.
Spring is also the perfect time to tap into creativity and enjoy time with friends. Our Flower Pot Arrangements Class invites residents to paint and design their own flower pot while enjoying a relaxed morning together. It’s a chance to slow down, create something beautiful, and take home a piece of spring to brighten your space.
Family connection is at the heart of many of our events this season.
Our Mommy & Me Paint Day will give moms and their children the opportunity to laugh, paint, and make memories together. Later in the quarter, our Super Mommy & Me Mario Dance Party will bring an evening of music, dancing, and playful fun inspired by the colorful world of Mario.
Our teens will also have their moment to shine at Teen Paint Night, where they can gather with friends, express their creativity, and enjoy a relaxed evening of painting, mocktails, and snacks.
One of the most heartwarming nights of the season will be the Huntrix & Heroes Daddy & Me Dance Party. There’s something truly special about watching dads (and father figures) and their daughters share a night filled with dinner, dancing, games, and laughter. These are the moments that turn into cherished memories for years to come.
Every event we plan is created with one goal in mind, which is to bring our community closer together. Bellalago is more than just where we live; it’s where friendships grow, families celebrate milestones, and neighbors become lifelong connections.
I encourage everyone to keep an eye on for event updates and registration information, and I hope to see many of you out enjoying everything this spring season has to offer. Here’s to sunny days, beautiful memories, and another wonderful season together at Bellalago.

The Importance of Not Littering
Written by MEMBERS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE
Littering is defined as the act of improperly disposing of materials in public spaces such as streets, parks, and property. Common forms of litter include plastic bags and bottles, cigarette butts, food packaging, tires and vehicle debris, and construction waste. Littering is a result of laziness or carelessness, lack of access to trash receptacles, lenient law enforcement, and the presence of litter already present in the area.
HOW DOES LITTER AFFECT HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT?
Littering adversely impacts the public health by making a breeding ground for pests and bacteria; contaminating soil, water sources, and air. Even people’s moods, their pride in their residential area, and their local economy are affected. Poisoning wildlife and plants while compromising habitat, litter undermines whole ecosystems. From plastic waste choking our waterways to tire dust and other automotive components polluting our landscapes, to insidious chemical molecules degrading all aspects of the environment, the consequences are severe and far-reaching. Animals - especially birds - often mistake items like cigarette butts, pens and pencils, plastic and paper items, facemasks, rubber gloves, and metal shards and foil for food, potentially leading to a slow and difficult death. Cigarettes are so toxic, they’re technically
not allowed in landfills! And other common items in litter may be more toxic yet. Chemicals from litter leach into our soil, water, and air.
A negative visual impression from litter renders a neighborhood less attractive. It lowers property values. Potential property buyers tend to avoid properties with significant littering. A littered area, viewed as poorly maintained, reflects negatively on residents’ quality of life. And high levels of littering may be associated in buyers’ minds with higher crime rates. Litter is costly - harming people, wildlife, plantlife and aquatic life.
HOW DOES LITTER AFFECT OUR FUTURE?
Nonbiodegradable materials take years, decades, or even centuries to decompose - releasing toxins as they break down. If, 500 years ago, Native Americans had used soda cans, we’d still be finding them today! How, then, will our great-grandchildren be able to clean up after us, if we fail to remove our litter now? We have an obligation to those who come after us. Environmental stewardship is essential: both cleaning up regularly and preventing littering through education will bring more pride - and even happiness - to our community.
