Marching in the Spirit ARTIST STATEMENT Marching In The Spirit” is my way of showing the spirit in which we march for Freedom and Equality in a non-violent way. The Marchers represent the millions of “unsung” individuals who marched behind in support of the “iconic heroes” of the Civil Rights Movement.

“Hand to Hand, Shoulder to Shoulder they march with the spirits of the Movement.

The Hooded black and white figures in the image are symbolic of the non-violent protest movement. They walk in concert with the Marchers.

The protest signs symbolize the events that reminds us of why we must continue to stand up for the Spirit of the Civil Rights Movement.
