Animal Wellness Clinic in Elim An Animal Wellness Clinic was held in Elim on Saturday, 5 March 2022. The wellness clinic was hosted by CAM Animal Control in partnership with a teenager from Elim, Miché Swart, a Grade 12 learner at Bredasdorp High School.

BD branderplankryer presteer in SSA se Junior Grom kompetisie Emma Loggenberg het die verlede naweek deelgeneem aan die SSA (Surfing South Africa) Junior Grom kompetisie in die Strand. Sy het in die O/12 ouderdomsgroep branderplank gery saam met sommige van die top branderplankryers in SuidAfrika. Tuisgemaakte wit Romany Creams Bestanddele: 1/2 koppie witsjokoladepoeier 1/2 koppie mielieblom (Maizena) 1/4 koppie kookwater 375 g sagte botter 1 & 3/4 koppies strooisuiker 2 & 1/4 koppies koekmeel 2 teelepels bakpoeier 1/2 teelepel soul 1 teelepel vanilla essence 2 & 3/4 koppie klapper (coconut) 1 teelepel karamelgeursel (opsioneel) Vir die vulsel: 2 x 100 g blokke witsjokolade (gebreek) 100 g botter Metode: Meng die witsjokoladepoeier, mielieblom en kookwater tot ’n pulp en laat afkoel. Klits die botter en strooisulker saam tot lig en romerig. Sif die koekmeel, bakpoeier en sout in ’n afsonderlike bak saam en voeg by die botter-en-suikermengsel saam met die sjokoladepoeier-en-mielieblommengsel. Voeg die vanilla essence, karamelgeursel (indien gebruik) en klapper by. Meng goed en skep hopies met ’n teelepel op ’n bakplaat. Bak vir 13 minute in ‘n voorverhitte oond van 180°C. Laat die koek-ies 5 minute afkoel en pak op ’n draadrak.

Maklike frikadelle vir ‘n vingerete Bestanddele: 1kg maalvleis 1 koppie oats 2 tamaties (geskil en fyn gesny) 1 ui (gerasper) 2 eetlepels tamatiesous 2 eetlepels chutney 1 eetlepel Worcestersous 2 eiers Speserye: Origanum, Rosemary en "Spice for mince" - gooi soveel in soos jy daarvan hou 1 pakkie bruin uiesoppoeier 500ml kookwater Metode: Meng die vleis, oats, tamaties, ui, tamatiesous, chutney, worcestersous en speserye saam in 'n mengbak. Klop die eiers goed en meng by die vleis in. Maak ronde balle en plaas in 'n oodvaste bak met 'n deksel.

Maak die bruin uie sop poeier aan met die 500ml kookwater en gooi oor die frikkadelle. Plaas die deksel op en bak Smelt die botter en witsjokolade in ’n dubbelkastrol. Op Maandag, 7 Maart 2022 het die Uitvoerende Burgemeester van Kaap Agulhas, Paul Swart, die gemeenskap van Klipdale besoek om na hul uitdagings en drome vir hul gemeenskap te luister. Hy is vergesel deur die onderburgemeester Raymond Ross en raadslid Karin Donald. Saam het hulle fasiliteite soos die biblioteek en gemeenskapsaal besoek. Geen gemeenskap moet agtergelaat word nie. BEST LEFT, STORED OR DISPLAYED? Continued from page 12 There are many advantages if artefacts are removed from the seabed, taken into a museum’s custody, stabilised, restored and then put on display. Firstly and fore-mostly, the custodian has all items in one place for the public to visit, see and enjoy such educational collections. Security, upkeep and ongoing stabilisation and restoration are in the hands of experts or people with access to experts. As custodians, all artefacts are safely kept for generations to come.

Naturally, due to limited exhibition areas, not everything can be shown at the same time. Those not on display are kept in storage for a period. A dynamic, ever-changing and rejuvenating exhibit policy ensures that items never spend too much time in storage, before getting a turn to be displayed. Just imagine the attraction and educational potential of the Bredasdorp Shipwreck Museum, if they could have some of these artefacts in question, exhibited.

As the reader, it is up to you to decide what makes more beneficial sense, leaving everything on the ocean floor, taking items into storage custody, or responsibly to becoming display orientated, artefact protecting and public-educating custodians? On discovering an old wooden shipwreck, nothing of the massive structure is found to have survived. 12

Furthermore, as not regularly in view, items might again destabilise and start corroding without this adverse action being noticed. This author remembers accompanying the world's plate money expert, the Swedish Professor Bertel Tingström, to the then Cultural History Museum in Cape Town. He had flown out from Sweden to inspect the globally unique representative sample of Nicobar (1785) Plate Money that he had helped the NMC collect some years earlier. Once at the museum, after much delay, the plates were eventually found and brought to him for inspection. The shock on his face when he started scrutinising the individual plates one-by-one is something I will never forget. They were in a bad state of preservation. By the time that he got to the extremely rare by then greenish (one of two in the world) 1664 2-Daler Plate of KAREL XI, he had tears in his eyes.
