As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, we are aware Christmas isn’t far away. However 2025 has been for you, I hope 2026 is better!
This Christmas I will be taking a slightly longer break. The office will be closed from Friday 5th December to Monday 5th January. Always leave a message and I will check periodically and respond when I can.
At Abbeyfield, Loughborough, we pride ourselves on offering exceptional, person-centred Dementia Care in a warm and supportive environment. Westfield House is more than just a residential home - it's a vibrant and welcoming place where life is celebrated, every day. Our dedicated team is committed to making every moment meaningful for our residents, with engaging activities, special outings and a true sense of community.
We believe our residents really feel like part of a family here. We organise activities that suit a wide range of backgrounds and our Face-book page shows the results. Seeing and hearing the participation is key to our success and as the pictures show, everyone joins in making memories.
At Abbeyfield, Loughborough every day offers something new. Whether it’s Fish and Chips in the park, having a sing along, a wedding anniversary or birthday celebration with friends and family or a slow trip on the Soar, we endeavour to make each day count.
In recent weeks our residents have joined together with Hazel on the accordion, enjoyed our annual beach party, played bingo, made cakes, visited East Midlands Aeropark where much discussion was had and memories shared. We are proud to be part of such a caring and connected community.
For more information visit abbeyfieldloughborough.co.uk or contact us directly. We would love to hear from you.
If you are sad, lonely or missing someone special to you this Christmas, from 4 December we invite you to add the name of the person you are missing or your own to a tag and attach to our Christmas tree.
We invite you to a short service in the forecourt, around the tree on Thur 18th Dec at 11.30am when we will read out the names. We hope this will be a help to you.
Do join us for a hot drink afterwards. We wish you God’s peace at Christmastime.

Baileys & Cherry Christmas Tiffin
Ingredients
100g raisins or sultanas
(soaked overnight in 2/3 tabs of Baileys)
5/6 tabs of Baileys
250g 70% dark chocolate chopped into small pieces
250g milk chocolate chopped into small pieces
200g white chocolate chopped into small pieces
100g unsalted butter
300g shortbread broken into small chunks
200g jar marachino cherries drained and halved
Line a 20/21cm square tin with baking paper. Put the raisins in a microwave bowl and put cling-film over. Microwave for 30 seconds and leave so the Baileys soaks into the fruit.
Melt 150g of the dark and milk chocolate with the butter in a pan until completely melted and then stir in the raisins. Add the rest of the Baileys, shortbread pieces and cherries and mix well. Spoon into the prepared tin and smooth the top. Place in the fridge for about an hour and until firm.
Melt each of the remaining chocolates separately and then blob over the top of the tinned mixture and swirl together. Leave to set in fridge for at least 4 hours.
