Our recipe, on page 27, this time is for Lamb Kebabs, a great one on the bbq and perfect for the celebrations. Pop on down to Brookes Butchers, they have a fabulous range of meats for the bbq. This weekend we are off for a walk in the Outwoods. It is one of the oldest surviving woodland sites in Charnwood. There are lots of different routes and walks, including one with an easy access path. Parking for the whole day is only a £1 and now there is the Outwoods Visitor Centre and Café. A perfect place to rest at the end of your walk and enjoy a refreshing drink (and perhaps a piece of cake!)

Have you tried the crossword on page 26? You can win £20 Or maybe try the wordsearch, just for fun! Spicy Lamb Kebabs with Raita These are delicious, quick & easy for a balmy summer evening BBQ. This is my recipe for them but feel free to substitute ingredients to suit your tastebuds. Ingredients 500g lamb (neck fillet or leg), chopped into bite sized chunks Chunks of veg...pepper/mushroom/courgette/onion or whatever is lurking in the fridge! Marinade 500ml natural yoghurt 1 red chilli, finely chopped 3 cloves garlic, crushed 5cm ginger, peeled & finely chopped 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons each of ground cumin Method ground turmeric Mix all the marinade ingredients thoroughly. Add paprika 3 tablespoons tomato puree the lamb, mix well & leave in the fridge for at least 3 tablespoons finely chopped coriander 2 hours (I prepare it in the morning before work & Juice of 1 lime Cucumber Raita Half a cucumber, grated 250ml natural yoghurt 1 clove garlic, crushed (optional) 3 tablespoons finely chopped mint Juice of 1 lemon Salt & pepper
leave it all day). Skewer the lamb and veggies. Cook on a hot BBQ or under a hot grill, turning frequently. I prefer my lamb pink but cook to your preference. Slightly charred (not burnt!) is delicious! Combine the Raita ingredients. Serve with Raita, rice, salad, pitta bread or wraps. 27
