Dear Readers Happy New Year! Not the start we were hoping for in 2021. At least now we have vaccines. Try to stay positive! Here at Outwoods View Directory we have debated about if we could bring this issue to you and were only convinced it was ok after speaking to a council official who said a lot of elderly and vulnerable may depend on your magazine when things go wrong. They may need an electrician or plumber because something has gone wrong. Not everyone has the internet or family (or even friends) to ask. So here we are. If you know your neighbour lives alone why don’t you swap telephone numbers and give them a call. A simple hello, how are you coping? can we do anything to help you? - things like these can go along way to help those suffering from social isolation. You don’t need to physically see them, to help. Please also take the time to look at the two charities in the magazine this month, The Blanche Sergeaunt Foundation and Age UK. Both doing their bit to help our ageing population. Also check out page 28 to see Jane Milbourne, the winner of £50 to spend with her chosen company Hassall & Son Ltd and also the first winner of the crossword competition Derek Garratt - congratulations to you both! Well folks - please stay safe! Hopefully with the new vaccines I hope by our next issue to be talking about something much more exciting. Try to shop locally and keep our local economy going. Our local businesses need your support now more than ever. Please remember to mention the Outwoods View Directory when using the services provided by our advertisers, ensuring that you continue to receive your FREE magazine every two months.

Apple & Cinnamon Scones ~~~~~~~~ 500g self-raising flour
140g butter
90g caster sugar
200ml milk approx
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 egg beaten
1 large apple peeled & diced ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10 SHIRTS WASHED, DRIED & IRONED ÂŁ13
Preheat oven to 210oc Grease a baking sheet Sift flour into mixing bowl and using your fingertips rub the butter in until the mix resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in sugar, apples and cinnamon. Add the beaten egg and then slowly start to add the milk with a round bladed knife until the mix forms a soft dough. You may not need all the milk! Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly. Roll out to about 3cm thick and then use a 7cm cutter to stamp out your scones. Place on the baking tray and brush with beaten egg. Bake for 10-12 mins until risen and golden brown.
