Homo for the Holidays Are you ready for the magic?

Homo for the Holidays ‘Home for the holidays.’ It’s a phrase meant to conjure closeness and tradition, to call in memories of comfort, safety, and joy.

But when you are queer or trans, ‘home for the holidays’ can too often be anything but celebration. It’s the need to dim ones’ inner light to fly under the radar. A reminder of trauma. A fear of having the truest parts of yourself deemed unworthy.

My dear friends, what if I told you we could change all of that, so young LGBTQ+ folks could know something different? At Outright, we take that which has caused harm and we Queer. It. UP. We create something of our own, something that fits better for ALL of us.

Homo for the holidays.

This holiday season, may we manifest the magic inherent in the belief that a bright and glorious future is more than just possible, it’s palpable. So palpable that we can put it into words. And as truths often get revealed around the holiday season, we’ve been holding on to some news of our own…

A Place to Call Home This moment in time calls for bravery, and so we declare, out loud and proud: In early 2021, we will purchase our own home. And not just for the holidays!

Through the incredible generosity of many, the power of community, and a little bit of queer magic, we are perched on the edge of greatness. We are poised to build a deep-rooted foundation of epic proportions, so LGBTQ+ youth always know home, in every glorious sense of the word.

Heck yeah!

The True Meaning of Home Knowing home gives each of us the strength and courage to fly. For Outright, we get to turn from worries about stability, and instead focus our energy on the ways youth need us in this moment.

We know that LGBTQ+ youth are resilient, powerful, and wildly brilliant in their own right.

The most beautiful gift we can offer them is the solid ground from which they can flourish and craft the world they want to live in, to be alive for.

In turn, we get to witness their building confidence.

The joy that sparks from having family. The hope that’s born from celebrating our uniqueness, together.

Home has room enough to hold us all, and all of us.
