when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. 7 And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no [a]crop. 8 But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
Mark 4:5-7

Confict. R
I don’t want to talk about it! defnitely not a word we wa However, it is also defnitely will experience. When interacting with people, especially in a leadership role, there will be times when you will disagree or simply view things differently. For the task at hand to be accomplished there must be cohesiveness and unity A conversation is necessary to come to an agreement and maintain the relationship necessary to move forward. Whether at work or home, you will sometimes experience confict. Don’t shy away from it but meet confict head-on with a positive outlook and expecting resolution. Have the crucial conversation necessary to address the issue at hand.
When having a difcult or crucial conversation you must “start with heart ” . This requires entering crucial conversations with the right motives and remaining focused. If the motives of both parties are “right ” there would be no need to fear addressing the issue. It would be assured the issue would be worked out in the best interests (as much as possible) of all parties concerned. Remaining focused would allow the issues at hand to be properly addressed and not add other issues not relevant to this exchange. Sometimes crucial conversations can become “historical”, bringing up past issues that were never addressed. Let ’s answer the following questions.
Why is it so important for us to be able to address tough issues at home, work, and church?
It is important to address the tough issues both at work and home because if left unaddressed they will not go away and will only get worse
These issues grow bigger and bigger and become much more difcult to handle as a result What could have easily and quickly been resolved with a cordial conversation now becomes a heated exchange where all parties run the risk of being negatively impacted Crucial conversations are those where the stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. These conversations are vital in our lives. This is because the quality of our lives is directly related to our ability and willingness to effectively tackle tough issues. Like a disease, an unresolved issue begins to impact every area of a person’s life through the emotional impact it is having on them.
There are several reasons why people avoid confict. Often, they are fearful of the repercussions of directly addressing an uncomfortable topic. Lost relationships, lost employment, and personal injury are just a few of the potential ramifcations of conficts gone bad. The inability to see the value of interaction and the inability to allow anyone to challenge one’s opinion are also factors that make people avoid confict. When in confict the opposing presenter ’s passion is often viewed as rigidity. This causes a person to ask, “ What ’s the use of having this discussion if there’s no chance for change”? Be sure to consider the other person’s perspective.
In order to achieve growth, fellowship, and community in our lives we must be willing to lovingly address confict.
Pray. Hear God. Have the discussion. Watch God work it out.
