CALLAN MCAULIFFE A Soul Like No Other Two households. Two different experiences. One open mind and heart. “I grew up an only child in a divided household, but it meant I could occupy two worlds,” shared renowned actor, Callan McAuliffe, about his upbringing. While living with his mother in Sydney, he was able to learn “life’s ropes, and became comfortable with the hustle-bustle of city life,” something that would prepare him for the whirlwind that comes with the world of Hollywood. And living in the countryside with his father, he discovered his love for science and nature that “still brings me peace and purpose outside of the industry,” he added. From this, Callan started acting when he was young, though not remembering if he even made a decision to get into the entertainment industry, “I just kind of ended up here.” Hoping to make something he is truly proud of, the actor also has plans to move to Botswana, learn Setswana, “and become a Botanical tour guide in the Okavango Delta - introducing people to the much-neglected flora of Southern Africa,” he explained. Now, that’s cool! Of course, as he makes his way to fulfilling all

his dreams, acting currently plays a huge part in his life. A series regular on the infamous, The Walking Dead, the show will return to AMC for the eleventh and final season on August 22, 2021. Callan looks back on his first day on set which involved “being roped to a bunch of other people in a chain-gang, marching back and forth under the Georgian sun.” After all, he would find himself fighting against zombies as the drama in the new world unfolded periodically! Playing the role of Alden, Callan brought himself to the role as most actors do. “I like to think that Alden is just me with a different accent and a more paternal instinct,” he expressed “If nothing else, we both furrow our brows to express nearly every emotion.” Over time, the actor found himself learning a lot about himself and the world of television. While filming Season Ten, he learned a valuable lesson about prop-work. And it involved a catapult and a squirrel... You see, his character built a few catapults “on the wall to defend against the season's terrifying flesh-masked antagonists,” and of course, for safety reasons, they were

very weak catapults. Meant to propel foam projectiles, Callan was in for a little surprise...As he shared laughingly, “or - in my case - an inquisitive squirrel that had scurried up into the cup before we started rehearsing!” Don’t worry, the squirrel was fine. And one of the biggest takeaways from this was that “even when everything seems in order, it's always worth doublechecking.” A little something we can all integrate in our daily lives! I don’t know about you guys but I am definitely someone who double checks...ok, ok checks about 100 times, but who’s counting? Anyways going back to zombies…What would you do if a zombie apocalypse were to happen today? If they are as slow as portrayed on the big screen, there wouldn’t be too much worry... For Callan, he’d expect that the military would have a great handle on the situation however failing that, “I would enjoy living out my primitive masculine fantasies of morally unambiguous heroism,” he opened up. Now that is what we call a great answer! Now, it may not be humans turning into zombies but we do see a lot of “horror” in the way certain people are. Here at Bello, we asked Callan’s take on this and in his answer, he reminds us that everybody has lived a life of their own, “in a unique crucible
of complex variables.” One person’s wrong may be another’s right, and as he candidly put, “anything less practical than compassion is wasted grandstanding.” We must remind ourselves to listen to others as we have all faced different situations in our lives which have affected us differently... A little compassion and empathy can go a long way. Waking up anew every day, Callan is still finding his true purpose in life “Every day I wake up confident, and go to bed uncertain.” In love with what he does, in his eyes, life is a journey of discovery! And on that journey, a lot can happen. On top of the last season of The Walking Dead, you will also find the dedicated actor on a film, The Duel. Having worked with dear friends on this project, it is likely to be his favorite film to date, so stay tuned… "My role is the most "Callan" of anything I've yet been a part of. It resonates with me deeply, and I can't wait for people to see it,” he shared with excitement. Callan McAuliffe brings charisma, passion, candor, and fire both on and off the screen. Bright smile, great wit, and elaborate responses, we cannot wait to see what comes next for him! As he ended what was one of my personal favorite interviews to date, “only time will tell.”

Anna Maiche The beautiful and talented actress, Anna Maiche, was brought into this world with a destiny already written...With her mother being an actress herself, Anna was exposed to the industry her whole life, which makes it safe to say that some seeds were planted from early on! But what really gave that push was something else...As Anna put it, “emotions always fascinated me,” something she could truly explore as an actress! After all, each project is unique in its own way as it asks different things from the talent whether it be conveying anger, sadness, happiness, and thousands more! It takes hard work and dedication but when you nail that scene... the feeling is overwhelming! Before getting to where she is today, the actress recalls her first audition which was for a student film in New York. “Oh my goodness, my first audition was such a mess! I absolutely bombed,” she shared openly. “I was so, so nervous I ended up just speeding through the whole thing and when the casting director asked me to do it again but slower I did it the exact same way!” Having felt shaken and defeated, this was definitely a rough patch but also an incredible learning experience! Despite a rough start, (I mean who doesn’t have one at the beginning!) Anna continued

on and has recently starred on Netflix’s TINY PRETTY THINGS which explores the world of dance and drama. “What an experience, the whole thing was so much fun,” she shared looking back. Of course, it did come with some challenges such as being so far away from home and going back to ballet! “Although dancing was such a huge part of my life, I can’t say it didn’t come with its own trauma,” Anna shared candidly. “The past me would say dance means perfection, pain, dedication, and sacrifice.” Originally, her character Cassie was not supposed to be a dancer however due to her background, the writers wrote in a few ballet scenes. “So I dove into classes with the rest of the cast and tried to quickly get in shape!” Despite her conflicting relationship with dance, today it “means expression, whatever you want that to look like.” Wowing us with her performance as Cassie, this is not the only project that kept her busy! Prior to shooting the series, Anna was filming for her recent role in the horror film, WOMEN, which has just been released! Having had such a wonderful experience on set, the talented actress connected with the cast and crew almost immediately. “It was a tiny Icelandic group of filmmakers and they were a joy to work

with,” she said. “My character goes through unimaginable abuse and I felt comfortable pushing myself to that place because of the crew.” With love and excitement in her voice, it is safe to say that this project holds a special place in her heart. And as mentioned, she found herself having to push her boundaries as her character undergoes very intense trauma throughout the film. “My first scene on the first day, after having just met everyone, was a torture scene so that was a pretty big challenge,” Anna opened up. “It was also a challenge to play someone who was in pain for such a long period of time.” Understandable! Finding
herself feeling drained after repeating these heavy scenes, she learned “how important it is to acknowledge the emotional toll it takes, address that, and then carry on.” Absolutely! Anna Maiche is not only a very talented actress, she is a beautiful soul who learns from every experience and challenge she faces in life. Also very passionate about protecting animals from abuse, she hopes to “save the endangered species, and put an end to factory farming and commercial fishing.” Keep an eye out as this talented actress takes on the world of film and television with grace, passion, and dedication!

EMERY KELLY: BORN TO SING AND ACT GROWING UP, EMERY KELLY WOULD LISTEN TO ALL THE RENOWNED ARTISTS WITH HIS PARENTS FROM MJ TO PRINCE AND MORE. HAVING GROWN UP DOING MUSICAL THEATER, IT WAS CLEAR THAT HIS LOVE AND PASSION FOR MUSIC WOULD HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE IN HIS HEART AND THEN LEAD INTO A CAREER! ON TOP OF THAT, HE ALSO DECIDED TO PURSUE ACTING...WOAH! WATCHING HIS OLDER AND TALENTED SISTER WAS ALSO A BIG INFLUENCE IN HIS DIRECTION IN LIFE. INSPIRED BY ALL THAT IS AROUND HIM, EMERY HAS RELEASED "THE ANSWERS," A POWER BALLAD HOPING TO ASPIRE OTHERS TO STAY TRUE TO THEMSELVES AND ALL FOR LOVE! TALENTED IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA AND BEHIND THE MIC, EMERY KELLY IS GOING PLACES!
Growing up, what was the one song/artist you would play on repeat? Why did this song/artist resonate so strongly with you? I don’t really have a specific song that I grew up to, but I know my parents played a whole bunch of MJ, Prince, Stevie Wonder, and a lot of other great artists while I was growing up. What resonates so strongly with me is I recognized how passionate those artists were with their music, I love and respect that so much. When did you realize you wanted to pursue a career as an artist and actor? Do you remember the exact moment? No, not really! I grew up doing musical theater, so I was always acting and singing as a kid. I always wanted to be an artist and pursue the career but what also sparked it was watching my older sister Veronica doing her thing. She’s amazing at singing and acting too! Tell us more about your projects as an actor. What has been your favorite and why? I’ve been on a lot of awesome projects with Netflix’s “Alexa & Katie”, Disney+ “Big Shot”, and even got to film a movie “Max Winslow and the House of Secrets”! It’s been a surreal journey. project so much that I can’t decide a favorite! As you started your acting career, what were you most nervous about and how did you overcome it? I was nervous that I wouldn’t make it anywhere in the acting world, but I overcame it by telling myself one day I’ll book something or meet someone that has a new opportunity for me. To keep going and step right back up when you fall. As an artist, what inspires your music? How does the writing process go? A lot of things inspire me: life, friends, family, conversations, basically everything haha. It depends on the moment for me. The writing process is different every time. Sometimes I can write a whole song in 10 minutes or it could take 10 years to finish one. It just has to feel right. Tell us more about your current projects. I’ve been working on my first solo album “Some Of My Emotions” S.O.M.E that comes out this year! When you listen to it from beginning to end you’ll be taken on a journey like no other. It’s sonically different from what is out in the music space so I’m really excited for people to hear this album

What inspired “The Answers”? What does out mean to you and what do you hope the audience gets out of it? “The Answers” is a great power ballad, and I love that song because it talks about being yourself and doing it all for love. I’m super grateful that it was able to be a part of the movie “Max Winslow and the House of Secrets,” and to have “The Answers” considered for an Oscar nomination! Super crazy. Tell us more about your upcoming role in “Big Shot.” What are you most excited about? I’m really excited for people to see more of Dylan! He plays basketball and is really good friends with Louise.. maybe more? Who knows you gotta watch it to stay tuned! What do you hope to accomplish the most? Even more than that, I want to look forward to giving back because without my friends, my family, and my supporters I wouldn’t be where I am today and I wouldn’t be given the opportunities I have been given without them. Having the privilege and opportunity to have the platform that I have has given me the chance to promote what is so important to me which is self-love and confidence in a world where beauty is seen in only one way my goal was to get out of that box and let people celebrate our differences and what makes us uniquely beautiful in our own way! I can’t wait to continue that journey and I can’t wait to continue to inspire little boys and little girls that being unique is not weird, but rather being unique is what makes you beautiful."

FRANCIS KURKDJIAN
BROUGHT UP IN THE WORLD OF LUXURIOUS FRAGRANCES, FRANCIS KURKDJIAN FOLLOWED IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HIS ELDERS NOT TOO LONG AFTER! AS OUR SOCIETY CONTINUES TO EVOLVE, SO DOES THE CHOICE OF PERFUME. NO LONGER "LIMITED TO OUR GENDER IN THE YEARS TO COME," FRANCIS UNDERSTANDS THE IMPORTANCE OF ADAPTING TO CHANGE AND BRINGING THE BEST FOR EVERYONE. TRULY PASSIONATE ABOUT FRAGRANCE AND ALL THAT SURROUNDS IT, MAISON FRANCIS KURKDJIAN HAS JUST RELEASED ITS LATEST COLLECTION WHICH WILL LEAVE YOU WANTING MORE... DIVE INTO THE WORLD OF FRAGRANCE WITH FRANCIS KURKDJIAN!
Share with us what you were most excited about the release of the latest new collection. What was behind the inspiration? To understand the genesis of the Cologne forte collection, you need to go back to the creation of Aqua Universalis, launched when Maison Francis Kurkdjian was created in 2009. The inspiration for this fragrance, later followed by Aqua Vitae and Aqua Celestia, could be summarized with this Latin quote “mens sana in corpore sano,” meaning “a healthy body in a healthy mind.” I thus wished to reconnect with the tradition of the Eau de Cologne which, in its original form, was also drinkable, creating a visible “inside-outside” effect. What is good for my body is also good for my mind. In 2011, we came up with the forte name, a reference to music, to express the idea of strength in these fresh fragrances. Finally, in 2021, I wanted to bring a new light to this Aqua collection and a new caliber to the forte range, keeping in mind that the idea of freshness could also be explored starting from the sensations induced by light. This is how Cologne forte became a reality: a modern, long-lasting Cologne, showcasing the idea of light, color and sensations which was already in the genesis of the original eau de toilette fragrances. This new collection, who do you envision wearing it? Who was it made for? Maision Francis Kurkdjian is a fragrance house of freedom: freedom of creation first but freedom
65
of wearing the fragrance you want without being judgmental as well. This collection is a tribute to the original Eau de Cologne, which was historically destined for both men and women… Thus, all the Aqua Collection fragrances are not only genderneutral, they are suitable for all on all the continents. How has your relationship with fragrance evolved over the years? What are some lessons/changes you learned and adapted to? The choice of perfume is no longer limited to our gender in the years to come. Our society evolves, and so has the way to choose a perfume as a consumer. Therefore, as a creator, I believe it is my mission to rethink how I envision femininity and masculinity as this question. Everyone is free to choose a fragrance based on their identity. Gender Fluidity is one of my personal responses to contemporary questions on gender identity. It reflects the idea of freedom to express our personality without having to submit to diktats and our freedom to choose a fragrance that suits us without any gender pressure. Gender Fluidity does not mean no Gender. It means you do not have to be secluded in one category only. That is a big move forward. Tell us a story from when you were 15 and decided to become a perfumer, a moment that had a huge impact on who you are. I had the chance of being brought up by parents and grand-parents who got me into the world of arts at an early age - from ballet class to piano, visits to the museums, and even being immersed in the world of Couture with two grandfathers working for the

craft, and a very close of my mother who worked with Christian Dior himself. I grew up curious about everything and developed a passion for handcrafts. However, I had my true revelation, at the age of 14, by reading an article about perfumery and five perfumers in the glossy pages of a French magazine. I discovered that the couturier/fashion designer was not the person behind the creation of perfumes. There were people behind the scenes, and those people had a very special craft and gift. I also saw the movie “Le Sauvage” with actors Yves Montand and Catherine Deneuve in which Montand character plays the role of a perfumer in a remote Venezuelan island. After that, I fell in love with the craft and told my parents I wanted to become a perfumer. I knew deep inside that it was my vocation! Growing up, was there someone or something that pushed you to pursue this career? As a kid, I wanted to be a ballet dancer and I took dance lessons with a teacher from the Paris Opera Ballet. I also studied classical piano. My parents always gave importance to artistic fields when raising me and my brother and sister. I guess they knew from the beginning that I was inclined to go for an artistic career. Yet, when I decided to become a perfumer, my father insisted that I obtain a Master degree in Luxury Marketing beforehand. I am thankful to him today as it helped me immensely. My family never tried to dissuade me but instead always gave me the tools to build myself up. All that I have learned from them shows through my work. Why is smell so important to you? What is your favorite scent?
Bello
Smell is important because it is part of capturing the complexity of a human being. It increases your feeling of wellness and you can play with scents all year long. However, all of the senses are important to me. They are part of your humanity. Finally, it is my way to express myself, the same way a writer uses words, a painter with colors or a composer with music. I do not have any favorite scents. As a perfumer, when it comes to my personal taste, the ones I have in mind for the future are always for me the most intriguing and appealing. In fact, the most exciting in life is always what lies ahead. So, I guess they are my favorite, even if they are not yet created. In your own words, what does beauty mean to you? Where does true beauty come from? I love natural sophistication. It is hard to define but I guess it comes with a sense of natural and inner beauty. It is not a question of perfection, as I don’t believe it exists, more a sense of balance. It is neither a question of what you wear or how you look. It is more an inner attitude that exults from the inside to the outside. Beauty comes from within. To anyone thinking of becoming a perfumer/ business owner, what kind of advice would you give them? Becoming a perfumer and managing a business are 2 distinct things. Never think you are satisfied; never think you are done. Who are you when you aren’t a perfumer? What are some hobbies of yours? Before Covid, I used go to the Opera to see classic Ballet or modern dance or hear Opera and music. I play the piano when I have some time on my own. I love Bach, Debussy and Chopin, Ravel and Mozart. They are my favorite composers. Since I have a terrasse in my new

home, I enjoy gardening very much. It brings me peace and lots of joy. Where do you hope to be in five years? Bringing the world of scent to a new level of consciences, to new ways to wear or experiment fragrances is really something I am more and more looking at in the future. I believe it is part of my mission in the world of fragrances to open new paths and question my era about the importance, meaning and place of fragrances. I do believe it is also the modernity of it: breaking, not the rules, but the boundaries. You must play the game. Otherwise, you are outside the place to be, but no one has ever forbidden not to push the boundaries nor break them eventually. Further, in the very tough world some people live in, I know I have been blessed. You must give back to life, what life has been given you. It is a mission, a duty.

RISING POP SINGER-SONGWRITER, JENA ROSE, WILL BE RELEASING "CHECKMATE" ON JUNE 11TH AFTER BEING INSPIRED BY NETFLIX'S SERIES, "THE QUEEN'S GAMBIT." TAKING ON THE DIFFICULTIES OF RELATIONSHIPS, THE SINGER HIGHLIGHTS THE IDEA OF KNOWING YOUR WORTH AND EMBRACING IT...IN ALL AREAS OF YOUR LIFE! AND WE LOVE IT! GRAVITATING TOWARDS A CAREER IN MUSIC FROM A VERY YOUNG AGE, IT WAS DEFINITELY MEANT TO BE! KEEP READING ON AND GET TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED, JENA ROSE!
Share with us the meaning behind “Checkmate.” When did you first start writing it? I, like almost every other Netflix consumer, became obsessed with “The Queen’s Gambit” during the pandemic and the show really sparked an interest in chess for me. After picking up this new hobby, I started to apply the gameplay strategies and challenges to various real-life scenarios and thought the message behind “Checkmate” could be super powerful lyrically. The song focuses around a toxic relationship, but it can really relate to any relationship, whether it is friends, coworkers or anyone in your life. In the game of life, when someone doesn’t know their worth, they have the power to stand up for themselves and 'check' the other person. Kind of like “Bye Felicia!” It’s like “Checkmate!” My goal is for #Checkmate to become the new bye Felicia. I believe in treating people how you want to be treated and wanted that message to shine throughout the song. Do you recall the moment you wrote the first words to the song? Can you describe that moment? Yes! I thought of the concept and the title of Checkmate first. Then the chorus came very easily after that. It’s always a great feeling when words flow and the song starts to come together! What does this song mean to you
both as an artist and personally? Personally, music has always been everything to me and my whole life revolves around it. As an artist and a songwriter, every song I write has a special place in my heart and there is no better feeling than when I get to release them out to the world. With “Checkmate”, I aim to inspire listeners to empower themselves to stand up for what is right for them whether that applies to a friendship or a relationship. Why did you choose to get into music? I’ve been very lucky to have known what I’ve wanted to do since I was very young. I started playing piano and guitar at a very young age and would put on concerts for my family all the time. I actually got into vocal lessons by chance, but I loved it the second I started. My instructor ended up pushing me to perform at the House Of Blues in Dallas at nine years old and that performance single handedly changed my life because ever since that night, I knew that making music and performing was what I was meant to do. If you could tell your fans anything right now, what would it be? I want them to know that every time I write a song, I do it for them. My goal is for listeners to relate to my songs in their own way and use them as an outlet for their emotions just as I do with music.
My fans mean the world to me and I hope they love “Checkmate”! Tell us a story about a time you were completely pushed out of your comfort zone. I grew up very reserved, so when I had my first performance at the House of Blues, it was a major accomplishment for little Jena. My friend was supposed to perform with me, but at the last minute she had to go out of town, so I was left to do it by myself. I was terrified and completely out of my comfort zone, but in the end I felt in my element and I was so happy that I pushed myself to face my fear head on! Who is someone you would love to collaborate with? (both dead or alive) The Beatles, Depeche Mode, Queen, Duran Duran, and Elton John would be dream collaborations for me!! What comes next for 2021? New music! “Checkmate” is first up and then there will be another single shortly after. I also have an EP set to launch later this year, which I am so excited about! I am constantly working on new music and I truly cannot wait for people to hear! Big picture, I honestly wanna take over the world and that’s what I plan to do!

Share with us the first time you ever performed. What was it like? Who was there? How were you feeling?
out at the dozens of faces, many of which I did not recognize, nestled in plush red seats and eagerly staring back... I tried to collect myself, closed my eyes and let the music take over... The few seconds of silence after I finished felt like forever until the whole room suddenly broke out in loud, sustained applause, which was pretty much the best feeling I’d experienced at that point! To be honest, it felt hard to believe, as I had not really expected such a response to my singing, which had more or less been a private pastime up to that point... Although I did not end up winning the talent show that night, the show still felt very much like a victory to me. I received compliments about that show for days afterward from people I didn't even know. A taste of celebrity...
In my last year in university, I was approached by a friend asking me if I would be willing to represent their sorority in an event on campus, wherein different men representing different sororities would compete in a talent show to raise funds for a nonprofit organization, with admission open to all. For the performance portion of the evening, I chose to perform a song I’d grown up listening to, titled “Dernière Danse” by a french band named Kyo. It’s a beautiful, yet simple song which had been one of the first few I’d learned on the guitar a couple years prior… The show was taking place in the university chapel. I had little solo performing experience - certainly none on such a stage, but I’d performed on the same stage before as part of the University choir. Because of this, I’d felt little anxiety going into it.
"AS A SONGWRITER, MY SONGS ARE A PLACE I CAN POUR SOME OF THE INTENSE FEELINGS I HAVE THAT MIGHT BE DIFFICULT TO PROCESS OTHERWISE."
I remember singing a song from a CD I’d been listening to to a school friend over landline phone. I’d been binge listening to it, and at the end of one of our frequent phone study sessions, I’d sung it to him as a way to “show” it to him (The Internet and YouTube were yet a few years away). I honestly don’t remember his reaction, although I probably would have ascribed it to the song itself, more so than my specific voice.
That said, the day of the event, waiting behind the stage, and hearing the cheers from what sounded like a full house, I couldn’t help but feel nervous. I was the third act up. My name got called, and I walked out to the stage, which now felt bigger and more intimidating than ever before. I looked
71
Who was the first person you ever sang for? What was their initial reaction?
May 2021
Bello
The first reaction I remember is a nanny’s. I’d spent an entire afternoon singing along -loudlyto some cassette tapes in our living room, and walking by she told me she thought I had a great voice and I ought to keep on singing. It was a surprise because I did not really think of my voice in that way - I was just having fun. That moment stayed with me.
I majored in Chemistry in college.
Tell us more about your songs. What inspired you to write them?
How has your family played a part in your career? Have they always been supportive of it? What was the family dynamic like?
If you could be an instrument, which would you be? Explain. A bass guitar! There’s something both grounding and sensual about the low end. I’ve always been attracted to the lower voices in harmony, although I turned out to have a lighter voice myself.
My initial inspiration is all the music I love, that always feels like a best friend turning up at a moment’s notice to say exactly what you need to hear.
I’m the eldest of three, and my sister was the first of us to sing in public. We’d go to restaurants and she’d end up taking the stage over for the night.
As a songwriter, my songs are a place I can pour some of the intense feelings I have that might be difficult to process otherwise. They also serve as a rolling record of my daydreams.
Music as a pleasure was very much cultivated in us from a young age. I learned how to sing by trying to imitate my grandmother’s singing. It mattered to my parents that we educate ourselves to keep our options open, but I’ve only ever received constant amounts of support and encouragement from them.
If you could go back in time and perform with any artist, who would it be and why?
What do you hope two accomplish both as an artist and individual?
There are a few such artists. These days I’d say Earth, Wind & Fire, because of their joyful and uplifting energy. My real fantasy, though, would be to perform with a symphonic orchestra!
To be living my musical truths while having a positive impact on people in my community.
