Letter From The Editor Bello

Wow time flies. Here we are, almost half way through March already and what an exciting year it has been so far! Life as we knew it has altered but luckily we are starting to go back to normal (ish). For this month’s cover, we are happy to introduce to you the beautiful and talented artist, ARLISSA. Shot by Steven Gomillion, this cover holds a special please on our hearts! You see, Steven shot the very first cover for BELLO and now, years later, we are coming full circle. Truly talented and a ball of light, Steven has wowed us again and we can’t wait to see what else he has in store. If you haven’t already, make sure to check out Arlissa’s latest release… As you flip through the pages, you will discover a variety of talent from actors/actresses, to singers, to influencers, and more. For our HYPED section, we have Caroline Vazzana, Lindsay Watson, Avianna Mynhier, and Tayler Holder. "I’m excited to see where this year leads, and if you stay on this journey with me, you’ll be in for a wild ride".

arlissa

As children, we all have dreams and are constantly asked by adults “what do you want to be when you grow up?” A question whose answer is bound to evolve and change as we grow older. For the talented and beautiful singer, Arlissa, the very first thing she wanted to become was an archeologist. “I was fascinated with all the artifacts and how we preserved these amazing parts of history,” she shared. “We were never there, but we knew and felt so much from periods of time.” Ironically, this dream was what put her on the path to developing a music career. Through her music, she will not only document parts of her life but “when I’m gone, all those parts of me will live forever,” Arlissa shared with love in her heart. From being fascinated with artifacts that made their mark in history to deciding to do the same through her own lyrics, Arlissa knew at the age of fourteen that she wanted to be a singer. Openly expressing that she is a very emotional person, the only way she could process those emotions was through her singing. “I remember telling my dad I wanted to sing, he told me to watch Prince’s Purple Rain,” she shared looking back on that time. This was something that truly spoke to her as she realized that Prince “took all his sadness

17

and trauma and turned it into something beautiful.” And that is where her passion for writing really took off. You see, the singer’s upbringing was somewhat troublesome but luckily her father was here as a constant, helping her move forward every day. Finally, when she turned 19, she met Sam who has been her rock through it all. “I have wonderful men in my life, my dad and Sam have always believed in me which helped me believe in myself,” Arlissa expressed with stars in her eyes. Whether it be good times or bad times, they have always been there and of course, not to forget her manager Pete who “also gets honorable mention for talking to me 20 times a day and listening to me ramble in LA while it’s 4am in London for him,” she expressed laughingly. When you have an amazing support system, nothing can stop you… And with that support, Arlissa finds herself having recently released her EP “The Lovers'' which is the first fully produced body of work she has ever put out. This whole record holds a special place in her heart because it’s the first time she was able to express herself exactly how she wanted. “When I wrote my acoustic songs, they were confined to acoustic

Bello

because I couldn’t afford production,” she shared. Unfortunately, when she signed with a label, her freedom was stripped and she felt forced to compromise her integrity from which she lost herself a bit… “Gaining my freedom back as an independent artist felt like coming home; finding myself again and creating like I did when I was a little girl;” a feeling like no other. But what is the true meaning behind Arlissa’s lyrics? Well, that none of us have it figured out. We are making our way through life and learning as we go. Evidently, we make mistakes along the way and learn many, many lessons. However, “if we can do all that with love in our hearts, we can find peace, even if we get it wrong,” Arlissa shared openly. Nothing lasts forever whether it’s the good or the bad and that’s OKAY. As she added, “we’re all just here to experience this crazy ride that is life.” Yes, sometimes we wish the ride would stop but then again...where would the fun be in that? This brings us to thinking about our past times and moments we wish we could go back to but for the artist, there is none she would go back to because “life’s about living in the present.” Every significant moment in her life has allowed her to discover another piece/side of herself which makes them all equally beautiful “and I cherish them all deeply,” Arlissa added. Take a second to let that sink in. Many times we look back or look forward and forget to focus

on the now. Something I can personally attest to. But when you take a second to appreciate what is happening before your eyes, no matter good or bad, you realize what its purpose is. If its purpose comes later that is fine too...but accepting the present as it is, matters! While you sit there and think about what it is you want for yourself in life, Arlissa has some advice for you aspiring artists! “Fight for your art. If it means something to you, don’t compromise,” she stated. No one will ever know what is best for you but yourself. It is all about trial and error and if you get it wrong, at least you can say you tried. Believing in yourself is key. And this is something we can all apply, no matter what profession we wish to get into. At times, we can find ourselves following others blindly and ignore our gut which at many times, is right. Arlissa has found her passion in life that blends her career and her sanctuary. Whenever she performs, she gets the “biggest rush and sensation,” it makes her feel alive. And when she hears the crowd singing back, those scary little thoughts become “this roaring cluster of voices sung back to you.” This brings a feeling of accomplishment to the artist. Taking all the sad, confused energy and transforming it into a giant celebration. Having only wanted to bring that kind of energy to her life and that of others, Arlissa has a lot more music, love, and abundance coming!

DANNY CORTENRAEDE

CEO OF INVESTMENT GROUP IN STUDIO VENTURES AND MANAGING PARTNER (US MARKET) OF WANNAHAVES, DANNY CORTENRAEDE IS CONTINUING TO FOLLOW IN HIS FATHER AND GRANDFATHER'S FOOTSTEPS. BOTH BEING ENTREPRENEURS, DANNY WAS RAISED WATCHING HOW SUCCESSFUL COMPANIES GET BUILT AND RUN. IT WAS ENGRAVED IN HIM FROM A YOUNG AGE, LEADING HIM TO THIS VERY DAY. HAVING WORKED IN THE CORPORATE WORLD FOR TEN YEARS, HE DECIDED TO LEAVE THAT BEHIND AND EMBARK ON HIS OWN JOURNEY AS AN ENTREPRENEUR WHICH LED HIM TO FOUND AND INVEST IN A VARIETY OF COMPANIES! HANDSOME, SMART, AND INNOVATIVE, DANNY CORTENRAEDE IS EMBRACING WHO HE IS AND MAKING MOVES!

Share with us how your childhood impacted where you are today. Your life and career choices. Was there someone who inspired you in particular? My father and grandfather were both entrepreneurs. I grew up seeing what it takes to build successful companies. The hard work, dedication, long hours, passion, entrepreneurial mindset, and big thinking. I was young when my grandfather passed away but I still feel a strong connection to him. My parents and family also compare me to him. He was a super driven person and a big thinker. Investing in real estate and building companies. This has impacted my choices and desire to build my own companies. Share with your professional journey up until now. What do you believe was the biggest stepping stone in your career? Biggest lesson learned? I started my career in the corporate world. I worked 6 years for Vodafone, 2.5 years for Sony, and 2 years for T-Mobile. I left my high-paid corporate job to start my first company, Enterprise Media, a production company. We worked for Walt Disney, Disney Channel, and clients like ABN-AMRO. After selling my first company I started NanoFixit together with an investor - I built the company in The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. Then I went on to co-found Wannahaves that includes 433 (now the biggest soccer community in the world with 55M followers and 5B views per month). We are working closely with Nike, Adidas, Puma, Budweiser and athletes like Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba, and Eden Hazard. I’ve built this company from scratch starting in Amsterdam and opened two offices in the states (NYC & LA). My latest project is InStudio Ventures - a venture studio.

21

We are building the next generation of media, tech and sports companies. As a team of seasoned entrepreneurs, marketers, and designers we understand the principles and challenges of building a business in today's world. Through our high involvement approach, we merge our expertise and experience with the founding teams. For us, investor partnerships go way beyond the numbers. What has your experience as CEO of In Studio Ventures been like? Can you tell us more about the company? InStudio Ventures, based in Los Angeles, combines start-up expansion expertise and private capital to conceive, cultivate, and scale next-generation media, tech, and sports companies. Having built multiple companies myself, I have also had a lot of setbacks - just like all other entrepreneurs. There are a lot of great entrepreneurs in the world but more than 80% of them are failing. In today’s highly competitive marketplace it takes so much more than just a good product idea to become a successful business. 32% is failing because of the incorrect team, 28% poor market fit (idea), 14% no funding, 24% business (lacking business model, outcompete), and 42% timing (no market need, product mistimed etc..) As the data shows there are many aspects that have an impact on success. A more holistic approach to the business is needed. That is where we come in with our venture studio. Getting start-ups on the right track by testing and eliminating all assumptions on their customer, product, market, and industry in 4 steps to create the ultimate value proposition for growth. InStudio’s global team brings a proven track record

of start-up expertise to discover, craft, test, validate, and scale next-generation business initiatives into highly-visible, highly-profitable market leaders. With our revolutionary venture studio model, we disrupt the conventional approach to VC funding, focusing more time and effort on developing innovative business models and maximizing traction in our partners’ market space. What obstacles do you face and how do you overcome them? As an entrepreneur and investor, I face obstacles on a daily basis. That is just how it is! The question is how do you react to these obstacles? It starts all with your mindset. I use those moments to learn and grow - what is the bigger picture? What is the thing that you really want to achieve? Keep that in mind and you can move mountains. Besides this, I believe in having the right network and surrounding you with the right people. These people can give you valuable insights, people who have done this before and are not afraid of your relative “small” problem. You are also the Managing Partner (US Market) of Wannahaves. How did that happen? I’ve built Wannahaves from scratch. As Managing Director and partner, I was the driving force behind the transition Wannahaves has made into a firstclass global digital media agency. That includes 433 | the biggest soccer community in the world with 55M followers and 5B views per month. My hands-on leadership approach enabled me to build our team from 1 to 40 talented employees who thrive in our fast-paced and collaborative work environment. I participated in the complete development of the company, from mission statement to business objectives and rebuilt Wannahaves into a digital media agency. I opened two offices in NYC & LA. Working with brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma, Budweiser, Red Bull, Samsung, Marriott, Stock X, Intersport, Mindshare, and many more. In your own words, what does the company

Bello

represent? What does it mean to you? Wannahaves is a digital agency that helps to activate brands through three primary services; content creation, media distribution, and social media. Wannahaves assists its business partners, in addition to our own brands of 433 and BALR., in creating the right content and distributing through our network (more than 60M followers). What pushed you to change careers and invest in many different companies? What do you believe your true purpose is? The biggest change was from my corporate job to entrepreneur. Now I am building businesses dealing with the things I love to do and I am passionate about: Sports, Tech, and Media combined with investing which is what I like the most. I mainly invest in startups & real estate. Helping entrepreneurs achieve their dreams and creating a big impact in the Tech, Sports & Media industry is my mission. We are on the top of the industry with innovation and working with the biggest brands in the world. Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently and why? I worked for big corporate organizations for 10 years. I learned a lot here and I was ready to start my entrepreneurial career. My advice to the 20 years old dreamers is to try a lot of different things and get experience. What are the things you are interested in when you have leisure time? What do you like? That is where you start. Email, DM, call 750 people that are players in this niche and maye one or two will reply to you and that starts your career. Tell us more about who you are when you aren’t working. :) nice one… It is difficult for me to not work. I am always thinking about my next move or thing, because that is who I am. I want to grow, build things, achieve great things and I love what I do. On the weekends it is family time and we go out and do nice things with the family. And I try the block between 6 and 8 for the kids, dinner etc.. For me my family is super important and I want to

see my kids growing up. How do you see 2021 going? What do you believe is the true key to success? 2021 will be a great year! Last year was a challenging year for a lot of people but also an eye opener at the same time. We are in a new world and things have changed but also a lot of new opportunities. I am working on amazing projects that give me a lot of energy. We need more time before we can travel and go back to work etc.. So 2021 will be a year of transition also in the sports industry. The key to success are multiple things but I believe in mindset is super important, a positive attitude no matter what. Set high goals for yourself and keep on crushing them, every day! Start your day with three main objectives and get them done (say no to the rest), believe in yourself, have confidence, and just go for it! and never quite on these goals ;) never.

RICKY RICKY GARCIA GARCIA RICKY GARCIA RECENTLY RELEASED HIS LATEST SONG, "ALL I WANNA DO" AND WE HAD THE PLEASURE TO CELEBRATE IT WITH HIM ON SET OF A BELLO SHOOT! HANDSOME, KIND, AND TALENTED, THE YOUNG ARTIST IS CLIMBING THE LADDER TO SUCCESS AS HE CONTINUES TO RELEASE MUSIC THAT WILL HAVE YOUR HIPS SWAYING AND HEADBOBBING! ALSO AN ACTOR, YOU CAN CATCH GARCIA ON SET OF "FINDING OHANA," WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A DREAM COME TRUE. GRATEFUL FOR THE LOVE AND SUPPORT OF HIS CLOSE ONES AND, OF COURSE, HIS FANS, RICKY GARCIA CAN'T WAIT TO KEEP TAKING ON THE INDUSTRY BOTH THROUGH HIS MUSIC AND ACTING! STAY TUNED!

We were so happy to have celebrated the release of “All I Wanna Do” with a shoot! Can you tell us more about the song and the meaning behind it? The song is a message of love. A romantic, intimate vibe you can listen to at any time. Truthfully whatever was going on in my life at the time just came out of me like a breeze. The meaning behind AIWD can be up for interpretation. But for me, it was about expressing to someone how much I wanted to be with them, around them, and experience life with them. How were you feeling when you first woke up that morning knowing it was out? What did you hope your fans would feel? I felt so relieved lol. So much work has gone into this music, I’ve been sitting on the song for almost two years. Honestly, I just wanted my fans to hear the raw authenticity that I put into this. I want them to feel comfortable, beautiful, and worthy of love. Share with us your musical journey up until now. What has been a huge milestone throughout your career? I don’t really know where to start. Getting my first taste of the stage and going up on X factor was really the beginning point and from there it was something that I always wanted more of. Going on the journey with FIYM was something I will always remember and

cherish. Being on Disney Channel, performing on GMA, Arthur Ash, and Digi Fest (with Demi Lovato) was also crazy because she helped me move forward on X Factor, and then I was performing alongside her to my first massive audience. Way too many milestones to count. Grateful for each and everyone because they brought me here. Looking back, what are some pieces of advice you would give yourself? Don't let people take advantage of you. I would say I was naive in the past, but it's definitely something I've been able to learn from. Describe to us your fashion style. Put together but in a casual, relaxed way. Let's just say I like to wear those sweats haha. John Elliot is a good style reference for me. He has those dope pieces that are fashionable, but super comfortable. If you could describe yourself in a music genre, which would you pick and why? Definitely RnB, I would say I was most influenced by those types of Artists growing up and that's what I feel my music embodies. What pushed you to be an actor? How was your experience on set of “Finding Ohana”?

Watching and studying some of my favorite shows and movies. It really started out as a dream not knowing what the future had in store.

and in that moment I felt so connected to everything going on. I've never filmed that close to the water before. It was an incredible experience.

Finding Ohana set was insane. It was beautiful. That was honestly a dream come true. You're in Thailand working on a huge production for Netflix with some of the most talented people in the industry. Jude Weng is amazing and she made every day a blast. Such an amazing project to be a part of.

When faced with an obstacle, how do you usually go about overcoming it?

Share with us a moment on set that you will never forget.

Message to your fans! Thanks for staying true. Just remember we all have our good and bad days, but keep going, keep loving.

AVIANNA MYNHIER

EMBRACING ALL HER TALENTS, AVIANNA MYNHIER CONTINUES TO WOW HER AUDIENCE ON TELEVISION, THROUGH HER PODCAST, AND AS SHE CONTINUES TO SUPPORT WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT. HAVING WORKED ON DIFFERENT PROJECTS, EACH ONE HAS BROUGHT HER A STEP CLOSER TO ACHIEVING HER GOALS. LEARNING A LITTLE MORE EVERY DAY, THIS MULTI-FACETED DIAMOND IS SHINING BRIGHTER THAN EVER. USING HER PLATFORM TO IGNITE POSITIVE CULTURAL CHANGE, MYNHIER IS SETTING A PATH OF LIGHT, SO LET'S KEEP WALKING!

In what ways has your role in “Panic” impacted you both as an actress and a person? What important lessons did you learn? Favorite part of being part of this project? When I meet and work with new artists, I learn through osmosis, so being on a new set is always a luxury. Playing Abby in “Panic” was an opportunity to help contribute to a really thrilling story, filled with strong, resilient characters. What I was reminded of on “Panic,” and what I’m often reminded of on any project, is how many important players there are in bringing a project to life. Everybody’s ability to work together and adapt to unexpected circumstances is what determines the outcome of the project. It was also pretty cool to explore Austin in my downtime! What a city! As an actress, what do you believe you have mastered? Need to work on? How did your role on “The Walking Dead” play a part in this growth? I aspire to be a lifelong learner, so I try to stay curious and observant as much as possible. In terms of what I can work on, the list is long! However, right now, I’m focusing on trusting myself more. On the set of “The Walking Dead,” I got to be around such veterans that every moment I was working, I was learning. I got to see iconic actors do their thing, understand how writers keep a story thriving across a decade, witness incredible stunt and special effects work, and, last but certainly not least, make some incredible friendships.

I chat with Michelin star chefs, Tony-winning actors, professional athletes, modern architects, tech entrepreneurs—the whole gamut. I ask every guest what they want to create an uprising about and we explore their vision of the world. It’s available on Apple, Spotify, Google, and Stitcher! What has been one of your favorite episodes and why? When getting to know these different people, what do you hope to get the most out of them (what do you like to ask the most about them)? I feel like a mother being asked to choose her favorite child - it feels impossible! ;) I like to seek out the most authentic version of my guests. I solicit personal anecdotes and honest recollections—the stuff you can’t find on Google! But I think what makes the show the most special is its diversity of guests. I really try to make sure there is something for everyone.

"I AM MOTIVATED BY PROGRESS, UNITY, AND A GOOD CHALLENGE."

Explain to us more about your podcast “Uprising” and what it means to you. What inspired it? What do you hope your audience gains from it? “Uprising” is a podcast elevating inspiring voices to ignite positive cultural change. I was fed up with the status quo of division, discrimination, and

What do you believe makes a woman truly empowered? What empowers you? Motivates you? I believe every woman deserves a sense of agency—the freedom to live as she chooses, to make decisions, pursue her dreams and realize her highest potential. I feel empowered by the women that have come before me. The women that trail-blazed toward a brighter future, even when society didn’t support them. I am motivated by progress, unity, and a good challenge. To everyone reading this, what would you want to say right now? Keep walking in your power. We need your unique light in the world.

TAYLER HOLDER

TAYLER HOLDER RECENTLY RELEASED HIS DEBUT ORIGINAL SINGLE, “100 ROUNDS,” WHICH WAS RECORDED IN HIS LAST APARTMENT IN LOS ANGELES. A HUGE FAN OF R&B, THE TALENTED ARTIST DECIDED TO TACKLE THE GENRE AS HE ADDS ON HIS OWN PERSONAL TWIST... SOMETHING YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS. USING HIS PLATFORM TO BRING TO US SMOOTH AND SENSUAL MUSIC, HOLDER RECOGNIZES HE WOULDN'T BE HERE WITHOUT THE LOVE AND SUPPORT OF THOSE AROUND HIM AND OF COURSE, HIS FANS! HERE AT BELLO, WE WERE SO HAPPY TO GET TO KNOW MORE ABOUT TAYLER HOLDER SO KEEP ON READING AND STEP INTO HIS WORLD.

Tell us more about the inspiration behind “100 Rounds.” What was your favorite part throughout the creative process? I originally wrote and recorded the song at my last apartment in Los Angeles about a year ago with my producer and main collaborator, Glenn Travis, who’s a really talented R&B artist. The song isn’t about anyone in particular or anything I’ve experienced in my own personal life – it just came together organically during my sessions with Glenn. My favorite part throughout the creative process was being able to make R&B music and incorporate that into my sound since I’m such a big fan of the genre. What do you owe your online success to? Any advice for emerging artists/influencers? I owe everything to my fans – they’ve been so supportive of me over the years and are the reason I do what I do. I think it’s really easy to follow trends or do what is popular at the moment, but I would tell aspiring creators to always stay true to themselves. If you aren’t being authentic, then people will be able to see through that really easily. Looking back, have you always wanted to work in the entertainment industry? Growing up what was your lifelong dream? Yes! Music is definitely my top priority and a career I’ve always wanted to pursue, even as a little kid when I was playing around on my guitar and other instruments. Growing up in Texas, I always wanted to move to LA and make it big in the industry. My lifelong dream has been to tour as a musician and sell out stadiums one day, and just to have people vibe with and connect with my music. I can’t wait to tour once the pandemic is over and hear my fans sing along to my songs – that would be so incredible.

How has music helped you in your life? How has it influenced who you are today? Writing and recording music is therapeutic for me – whenever I’m feeling down or happy, I channel that energy into my music. It’s my safe space for sure. So many amazing artists have influenced me over the years, such as Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Shawn Mendes, Khalid, and more. I’m also a huge fan of Bryson Tiller. It would be a dream to collaborate with one of them one day and make music together! What do you believe our world could use right now? How can we all give back? How do you give back? I know a lot of people are feeling super down right now during Covid-19 and want the world to get back to normal as soon as possible. This past year has been really tough, and I think we all have to be supportive and take care of one another. The other content creators I live with have become some of my best friends and feel like family at this point – I’m so grateful for them. Last year, I also took part in the #HealthyTexas campaign to give back to my home state, to spread awareness about how to stay safe and healthy during the pandemic. It felt great to use my platform for good and to be a part of this important cause. When I say 2021, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? More new music! I’ve been hard at work in the studio and will be releasing more new songs this year that I’m really proud of. I’m also excited that my debut single “100 Rounds” is out now! I’m so grateful for all the love and positive feedback I’ve received since the single release, and I can’t wait to share more soon.

It wasn't until I got a little older though that I realized I could pursue fashion as a career and that's when I applied to colleges for fashion design. Tell us more about the inspiration behind your book “Making it in Manhattan.” What was your favorite part about writing this book? What did you hope your readers would get out of it? I wanted to write "Making it in Manhattan" to draw back the curtain, to let people into what can feel like a very exclusive fashion industry and teach them the ins and outs. My favorite part was probably just sharing my journey and reliving it along the way. I hope my readers feel inspired to pursue their dreams!

I loved working with Pat and her team! They are such a creative team and I was so honored to work with them! It was really cool wearing pieces from the Sex and the City archive! Where do you think the future of fashion is headed? What role do you hope to play in its growth? I think the past year we've all slowed down a bit and taken a step back. For me, it's been a year of adapting to the new work from home lifestyle. I hope to continue to be able to inspire my community to dress outside the lines and that you can build your brand no matter where you are!

"I WANTED TO WRITE "MAKING IT IN MANHATTAN" TO DRAW BACK THE CURTAIN, TO LET PEOPLE INTO WHAT CAN FEEL LIKE A VERY EXCLUSIVE FASHION INDUSTRY AND TEACH THEM THE INS AND OUTS"

What was your experience like being the face of legendary costume designer Patricia Field’s “Sex and the City” campaign? Do you recall a moment throughout that experience that had a strong impact on who you are?

Describe to us a typical day in your life. There isn't really a typical day ever. It's always changing. On a daily basis, I'm doing zoom calls with brands, writing and editing articles, styling shoots, and creating content for my personal channels.

What piece of advice would you give to other fashionistas out there? Don't give up! This past year has been tough. But the fashion industry is still here. With hard work, anything is really possible in this industry.

Who did you look up to the most growing up? Looking back on your childhood, what were some of the most important lessons you learned?

My parents were and will always be my biggest

have shaped me into the person that I am today. I definitely threw them for a loop when I was the only

child that had a passion for acting in my family, but

they took it in stride and supported me every step of the process. They always encouraged

If we’re being literal, a huge cup of coffee is what truly gets me up in the morning lol. But if we’re talking mentally, it's the idea that there are only so many hours in the day that motivates me to get up out of bed on the daily. I like to remind myself often that life

We parked down and hiked in about 3 miles and then made it about 2 miles up the actual trail before we had to turn back. It was absolutely breathtaking.
