Letter From The Editor

And would you look at that... Here we are already, at the end of July, as we continue to soak in the sun and take some time to relax. Whether it be a fullon vacation or taking some downtime on the weekend, it's important to take care of yourself! BELLO has been keeping busy with a variety of shoots that will leave you floored! So let's jump right in... Gracing our cover this July is someone who deeply touched our hearts with her beauty, spirit, kindness, and talent...Sofía Reyes. The Mexican artist has built a strong following across the globe with her music and videos that will get you up and dancing every time. Killing it on Latin charts, she has released some songs this year and has many more to come. Make sure to read her cover story a little later in the magazine... For our Bello Spotlight, we have had the chance to feature two incredible talents who really bring something unique to the table. On the side of television, we have Kiana Madeira who stars in The Fear Street Trilogy on Netflix bringing Halloween a little earlier this year! Shot in NYC, Kiana wowed us with her fire and beauty! On the side of music, we have a Nigerian artist, WurlD, who brought class and mystery to the set. As the Afrobeats music genre continues to grow in the States, so does his music. Perfect for some summer fun, you won't want to miss his music! Continuing on the theme of music, Bello is Hyped to present MADDS, a multifaceted diamond who got to where she is today through hard work and strong love for music. Having just released a song with MAKJ and Mila Jam, “Just Sayin," the beautiful artist is soaring high! Take a trip around Bodrum, Turkey and dive into some very fun fashion editorials, and more! Here at BELLO, we hope you are having an amazing summer so far! Bisous Bisous Alexandra Bonnet

Un alma llena de fuego…

Back home and feeling as though she had missed

One of the scariest things in life is to take a leap of faith. There are times where it feels as though we

may never get that second chance. As though we

may never get that next opportunity… And then, one day, we take that leap and find ourselves exactly where we want to be, pursuing and welcoming

everything we ever wanted (with some hard work of

course). After trial and error, the talented Mexican singer, Sofía Reyes, finally took her leap which not only began her solo career but also, saved her.

on the table. Hesitant at first, it was “thanks to my parents pushing me to go to L.A. , that I did, despite

not believing in anything at that time,” opened up

the artist. “It took years and little by little things were moving around.” Looking back at that moment, what also pushed her to move to Los Angeles was

that feeling in her gut, and thank god she did! “It’s beautiful how things start moving and I swear, it’s

always for the best!” she exclaimed. Sometimes it just takes a little faith, a little motivation, and a little

You see, when Sofía was about fifteen years old, she auditioned to be part of a girl band of

five where she left her town and found herself rehearsing twelve hours a day. “It was a very

intense experience,” she admitted. “It was the opportunity I had at that time to sing but I wasn’t happy, did not like the music; the people and the

environment...not so good.” Having left her life, her friends, and her boyfriend, Sofía realized after this

experience just how depressed she was. Luckily, it

was during that time that she met her managers, Paloma Hecht and Charlie Guerrero, who would prove to be her guardian angels…

After giving almost two years of herself to the

girl band and losing some of her fire within, Sofía

couldn’t keep doing it anymore. On the phone, one

So there she was, on her true path of light as an

independent artist until she signed with Warner Music and released “Muévelo.” This was a pivotal moment in her life as she felt like her career was truly taking off; especially when she was invited

to perform at a music festival in Spain with about 35,000 music lovers in the crowd. With dreamy eyes

and a nostalgic tone, she said, “Everyone knew the

song from the beginning to the end and that was crazy for me. I remember I couldn't stop crying!” The universe was already working its magic!

After all, Sofía’s love for music runs deep in her

heart and soul. “Since I was very little, I really wanted to be on stage,” she explained looking back on her

childhood. “I would be that person going to stores

KIANA MADEIRA IS ON THE RISE KIANA MADEIRA WOWED US WITH OUR BELLO PHOTOSHOOT THAT WAS SHOT IN NYC! STARRING IN THE HORROR FILM TRILOGY, "FEAR STREET," THE TALENTED ACTRESS HAS TRULY STEPPED UP IN HER ACTING GAME. DRAWN TO THE ROLE OF DEENA FOR HER HEROISM AND STRENGTH, THE TRILOGY ALSO CAUGHT HER EYE AS IT TAKES A STAND IN ITS OWN WAY BY PORTRAYING STEREOTYPES, MARGINALIZED GROUPS, AND MORE. KIANA CAN ALSO BE SEEN ON TRINKETS WHICH HAS A SECOND SEASON! GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE OPPORTUNITIES COMING HER WAY, KIANA MADEIRA IS A RISING STAR IN THE INDUSTRY AS SHE BRINGS HEART, FIRE, AND PASSION!

Truly, I connected with all of my cast mates, which

Honestly, I was just grateful to be returning

to the set of Trinkets again. Our industry is

so unpredictable and being renewed is not guaranteed. When I got the call that we would

be returning for a second and final season, I was so excited to be reunited with the cast, to jump

back into playing my character, and to be back in Portland, Oregon. Being told ahead of time

that it would be our final season was a blessing

because we were really able to wrap up everyone’s storylines and it felt complete and fulfilling.

Throughout the filming process, what is a moment that had a strong impact on you?

special. From the very beginning, I connected

deeply with my co-star Odiseas Georgiadis who plays Noah Simos. As we started filming the second season, I also started sharing time with

Brandon Butler who plays Brady Finch and to this day, the three of us have a group chat and we speak every day. They feel like brothers to me and I love them a lot.

If you could go back in time to your audition for the show, would you have done something different? If so, what?

It’s always a great feeling when I have no regrets

There is a moment that often comes to mind when I’m reflecting on filming Trinkets. It was during our

second season; there is a scene where Moe, Elodie, and Tabitha are riding scooters on the street at

night and just feeling so free and connected to one another. The way that our characters were feeling

truly mirrored how we felt in that moment as actors

on set. There was a moment of realization like “wow, I am being paid to do what I love right now, in the middle of the night, surrounded by amazing creatives.” It was liberating and I strive to carry that feeling with me through all of my endeavors.

is rare but I think that’s what made Trinkets so

regarding an audition that I’ve done and I feel that

way about my audition for Moe in Trinkets. I had so

many ideas and impulses in terms of wardrobe, how she would wear her hair, her attitude, her

sense of humour. I feel confident in saying that I

brought those impulses and ideas to my portrayal

of Moe since day one. That’s always the best feeling- following creative impulses! I would not have done anything differently.

You will be starring in the horror film trilogy “Fear Street.” Why were you drawn to this role?

I was drawn to the role of Deena in the Fear

Street trilogy because she is incredibly passionate, strong, resilient, and brave. She is a true hero. She’s tough, but she’s

also vulnerable and as an actor, playing characters that were written to be so

dynamic is such a dream. Not to mention that these films are so groundbreaking in the way that they subvert stereotypes, they

take place over the course of 300 years, they are layered with social commentary,

AND they’re scary! Everything about them has always been so exciting to me.

What are you most excited for your audience to see throughout these movies?

I am most excited for the audience to see the representation of marginalized

groups of people on screen. Shadyside, the town that the story takes place in, is

full of minorities and people who have been oppressed and told that will always

receive the short end of the stick. These films take those characters and shine a light on them; they are our heroes and

that’s so rare to see, especially in genre films. It’s refreshing and powerful!

In what ways does this show reflect

how far you have come as an actress?

I think that these films showcase my heart. I really poured my spirit into the

characters that I played and I think that’s

the best reflection of who I am as an actor at this point in my life. This trilogy was physically, emotionally, and spiritually

demanding and I am so grateful for that. Being a part of the journey to create the films has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and dive deep into my craft in a way that I had never done before.

MADDS

BORN ABROAD IN SOUTH AFRICA, BUT RAISED STATESIDE IN SUNNY LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, MADDS GOT TO EXPERIENCE HER FIRST EDM CONCERT AT THE AGE OF 13 WHICH WOULD CHANGE HER LIFE FOREVER. HAVING TAUGHT HERSELF HOW TO WRITE SONGS, DJ, AND PRODUCE, THE TALENTED ARTIST KNOWS WHAT HARD WORK MEANS AND WHAT IT TAKES TO GET TO WHERE YOU WANT TO BE! MADDS, MAKJ AND MILA JAM HAVE RECENTLY RELEASED THEIR SONG "JUST SAYIN" WHICH YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS! GET HYPED THIS SUMMER WITH MADDS!

Share with us your journey up until now. What did you kick your career off with?

I was born in South Africa and moved to California when I was about 4 years old. I started modeling as a child, and my mom represented me during

the early stages, which was so, so helpful to have someone truly looking out for my best interests

from such a young, vulnerable age. Modeling helped me become comfortable with constantly

being in new settings, meeting new people, and how to be professional in a business setting, which are really important lessons that transfer

to any industry, but especially over to the music industry.

And having always had a super creative side to me since I was young, I’d turn to music, and use it to express my feelings ever since high school

when I taught myself how to write songs, DJ, and produce. So I started DJing around 15 years oldmostly doing it for fun and a creative outlet while I

was modeling. And after a few years of experience, I started collaborating with more artists and then

got comfortable enough to dive into music fulltime. Since then, I’ve toured across Europe, Mexico, and the US, and opened for artists like

Steve Aoki, Bad Bunny, Deorro, Martin Garrix,

and more, and I have my own tour this summer

and a Las Vegas residency. I’m releasing tons of new music, and feel like I’m really starting a new chapter in my career and could not be more excited!

49

How do you balance being a producer, model,

and designer? What is your favorite part of each job?

Balance is definitely key! I love everything that I

do from DJing to modeling to designing. I’m an extremely energetic person and really fortunate

that I can channel my creative energy into projects

across different industries. It’s a lot on my plate, but it all comes down to scheduling, timing, and

prioritizing. My favorite part of each job is the collaboration process. I LOVE working with other people and bouncing ideas - the energy is so contagious and invigorating and inspiring.

Growing up, what did you dream of becoming? In what ways did your childhood steer you on this path?

I’ve always had this uncontrollable amount of

energy and creativity! I’m super outgoing and talkative, so I love connecting with people on

every topic under the sun, making people happy and spreading joy. My parents traveled a lot for

work, and sometimes they’d bring me along, so I’d get to experience events that most 13 year

olds wouldn’t - like a warehouse rave with Benny Benassi in Salt Lake City. That was where I really

fell in love with music. I wanted to do something

in a creative field. Maybe be a comedian because I love laughing and seeing people have a great

time, and I think I’m pretty funny, too. Overall,

I think my natural energy, curiosity, and drive set me

Tell us more about your recently released single with MAKJ and Mila Jam. What does the song mean to you?

I am so, so excited about this collaboration! MAKJ and I are actually on the same agency roster, and I’ve always loved his music and vibe,

so I knew that I’d jump at the opportunity to work with him if it presented itself. So MAKJ and Mila Jam had been working on this track, I connected

with the lyrics on a personal level, and knew this

was the perfect opportunity to work together, so I jumped! I got to add a positive, feel-good ,

summer vibe to make it more of a club record. It

felt like a natural fit both lyrically and melodically, and working with MAKJ and Mila Jam was such

I have a bunch of dates throughout the summer

and into early Fall, so there’s still plenty of time for people to make the trip to Vegas for a weekend

to party and have fun! I’m also playing tons of

pool parties throughout the summer on my tour, so I can’t wait to keep traveling and bringing the energy to each place, especially with my new collaboration with MAKJ and Mila Jam - it’s the

perfect summer-y jam, and I can’t wait to start mixing it into my sets.
