Production ExPRESS™ was recently deployed by an offshore operator in Malaysia to successfully complete a matrix acidizing campaign using the tool’s fluid preconditioning services. As such, its production response solutions prevented pipeline blockages and avoided major production losses.

Elsewhere, SLB’s well construction solutions involve unmatched drilling and well placement services, solving some of the industry’s most complex challenges.

Case in point, last year the company

was awarded a major drilling contract

by Woodside Energy – an Australian petroleum giant – for the Trion development project in offshore Mexico.

The contract comprises 18 ultra-deepwater wells that will be implemented over a three-year period.

Meanwhile, SLB has also been awarded a series of major drilling contracts by Shell for which the company’s integrated services approach and artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled drilling capabilities will be pivotal to improving operational ability and well quality.

The contracts also encompass digital directional drilling services and hardware, logging while drilling, surface logging, cementing, drilling and completions fluids, and wireline services.

TAKING CONTROL OF CARBON At the heart of SLB’s decarbonization objective is its pioneering carbon capture, utilization, and storage

(CCUS) solutions, which continue to derisk clients’ projects and facilitate long-term carbon storage across a vast range of new energy systems.

The challenge of reducing carbon emissions is equally complex as it is critical, as the world’s biggest industries are built on foundations that emit significant greenhouse gas (GHG) levels. As such, the company is committed to helping customers take control of their carbon emissions and start their sustainability journey.

As an integral part of its CCUS solution, SLB’s carbon capture and processing software builds an intelligent overview of what is required to best reach the client’s decarbonization targets and most suited for their industry.

DRILEX Reboots Deepwater Solutions with the LAST System Founded in June 2002, DRILEX provides products and services for Mexico’s petroleum sector. The company represents several well-known brands, such as WWT International, Knight Energy Services, Macaroni Tubing, Energy Fishing and Rental Services, and Stewart Tubulars Products. The name “DRILEX”—short for Drilling Experts—highlights the firm’s expertise in drilling, completion, workover, and maintaining oil and gas wells.

DRILEX, in partnership with Knight Energy Services, supplied a 2,000,000 lb capacity 6-5/8” Landing String and LAST System for deepwater operations in the Gulf of Mexico’s Perdido Area. From October 2016 to February 2019, Schlumberger used this system on nine wells and Baker Hughes on one well.

The LAST System is an advanced, slip-less solution that complies with API RP 96 standards. It is built to handle landing operations for heavy casings even at water depths up to 3,000 meters (9,840 feet). With dual-shouldered landing strings, a slipless spider, and a BX elevator equipped with special inserts, the system offers superior reliability and operational efficiency.

DRILEX and Knight Energy Services plan to restart rentals of the Landing String and LAST System for deepwater wells in the Perdido Area in 2026, depending on requirements set by SLB for operations with Woodside at Trion Field.

DRILEX acts as the representative for both Knight Energy Services and WWT International, showcasing their advanced products and services in Mexico’s petroleum sector. Both companies are well-known for their leadership in creating innovative technologies in the Oil & Gas industry.

The Challenge of High Side-Force In the directional wells of Mexico’s Northeast Marine Region, drilling teams often encounter a persistent challenge when the curved well path forces the drill pipe against the casing.

This generates high side loads that steadily grind away at the steel intended to protect the well for decades. Even with careful planning and advanced modeling, operators frequently discover that simulated casing wear is far higher than acceptable, sometimes exceeding 50%.

The Operational and Long-Term Risk This problem threatens not only the immediate drilling program, but also the long-term value of the well. Excessive wear can shorten casing life, limit future interventions, and increase operational risk. In re-entry wells, where the existing casing is already aged, every millimeter of remaining wall thickness becomes critical.
