TIM MCKAIL 250th

Warburton- Millgrove FNC Player, Tim McKail, will play his 250th Senior Club Game this week, (248 in the firsts). This wonderful achievement also earns him the honor to be awarded Life Membership of the Burras.

Tim, started his football career at the Wesburn Junior F.C, coming through all age groups and winning several awards. He has continued a similar journey at the Burras including winning two Senior Club Best & Fairest’s in 2013 (Runner- up was his great mate Liam Barnard) and last season, 2022.

He also won an Under 18’s Best & Fairest in 2006 (with Barny Runner- Up again). Tim, played 36 games in the Under 18’s with his first game being in 2005, in a winning team against Olinda- Ferny Creek. The Under 18’s were Runners Up to Healesville in 2005. Tim’s dad, Rodney, was the coach of the side.

He commenced playing in the Seniors in 2006 while still playing in the Under 18’s. His first Senior game was against Belgrave South and a victory for the Burras. He has been part of the leadership group several times. He was appointed Senior Club Captain in 2019, a position he has held since.

Since 2007, he has finished in the top 5 for the Club’s Seniors’ Best & Fairest a highly impressive ten times.

He has also polled very well in the League Best & Fairest voting during this time. Tim has represented the YVMDFL in Inter-League games and performed extremely well at that level.

He has mainly played in the mid- field and as a running defender off the half back line. He has proudly worn number 37 for most of his Senior games, a number his father also wore for the Burras.

Tim’s pace and pin point passing are features of his game. He is regularly tagged by opposition teams, but has still managed to consistently pile up the possessions.

Tim is extremely popular and highly respected by everyone within the Warburton – Millgrove Football & Netball Club and also by opposition clubs. He has established many friendships with opposition players through his involvement in local football and cricket.

Tim’s loyalty to the Warburton- Millgrove Sporting Community has been outstanding as he has been approached by several clubs to leave the Burras and play elsewhere. He has stayed true to his personal values and sets a wonderful example for all younger players coming through the club. Everything he does both on and off the field and at training is total 100% commitment towards personal and team improvement.

The McKail Family has a strong connection with the Burras Sporting community with Tim’s dad, Rodney ‘Bear’ McKail, recently being inducted into the club’s inaugural Hall of Fame; in acknowledgement of his outstanding contribution both as a player and committee person. ‘Bear’ is also a Life Member of both the Football and Cricket Clubs, the YVMDFL and is the current Football Club Treasurer, a position he has held for several seasons. Tim’s mother, Karen, has also been a regular club volunteer including being a Gate Keeper for many seasons.

The Warburton- Millgrove Football & Netball Club is extremely proud of Tim’s contribution towards our club and the local sporting community and wish him all the very best as he continues to strive to achieve the ultimate success for his mates. Congratulations, Tim!
