Event Spotlight

Bobbitt Car Cruise

1955 was a very memorable year. Among the many events of that year: Alaska and Hawaii became the 49th and 50th states, respectively, and TV shows like Bonanza debuted on television. It was also the year that Bobbitt Auto Sales was established in Salem, N.J. and it is still in business today. Teamed with the South Jersey Region Antique Auto Club of America, the Bobbitt dealership held its monthly cruise, which saw over 100 cruisers come out to share an evening.

It’s really a cool happening when a dealership has 62 years of business. That dealership also displays its appreciation of classic and specialty rides when it hosts a car cruise.

Brigantine Lions Car Show

The Jersey shore is home to many great communities. One of the those places is the town of Brigantine. This oceanside town recently hosted a car show that was for the benefit of the Seeing Eye Dog Program. Hosted by the Brigantine Lions Club at the Brigantine Community Center, this pre-1980 show brought out nearly 60 cars of all makes. There were also some vendors to check out, too. Classic rides coming for a great cause at the Jersey shore always equals a great day.

Empire Diner Cruise

Cruising season is in full swing every first Monday for cruisers who wish to congregate in the town of Brooklawn, N.J. What better place to gather then at a restaurant where the participants can enjoy a great meal and great socializing.

The Empire Diner is the host location for this cruise and the monthly cruise is hosted by the Old Farts Car Club. First Monday’s at 5pm signal a great way to start the week.

Fielder’s Pub Car Show

America has many things that exemplify the spirit of our great land. Take a friendly neighborhood sports pub, mix in some great food, and add about 150 cruisers. That’s the Fielder’s Pub Car Show. Hosted by a club that is no stranger to creating fun events, the Blacktop Villains hit a home run with this successful inaugural event.

Located on the White Horse Pike in Hammonton, N.J., Fielder’s is a great location to share the great American pastime of enjoying an outing at a sports pub and checking out rides of all persuasions.

Red, White and Blueberry Car Show

Hammonton, N.J. has the title of the “Blueberry Capital of the World” and that brings with it the annual Blueberry Festival. If an event is about this delicious little berry, then it’s going to be in Hammonton. Everything is available from muffin and ice cream, etc. to their famous blueberry pancake breakfast.

One component of this event is the car show hosted by Cruisin’ Classics Car Club. This year’s show saw over 200+ rides come out to enjoy the day. The Hammonton High grounds were teaming with cars and spectators. The Cruisin’ Classics crew staged a fun time on this 35th celebration year of cars, good vibes and all things blueberry.

Everyone will agree the Hammonton festival has all things blueberry as well a dedicated car club that combine to make for a great summer day’s outing.

Ocean City Car Show Turns 66

Longevity for a car event is a special milestone. Well, there is a fine event that has been in the books for 66 years. The 66th Annual Ocean City Dave Blyler & Herb Godfrey Memorial Antique Auto Show & Boardwalk Parade is one of those shows that has passed the test of time.

The show is held on the Tabernacle grounds in the seaside community of Ocean City, N.J. Presented by the Jersey Cape Region AACA, the nearly 300 participating car owners enjoyed a day of Jersey shore hospitality and even got to cruise the famed OCNJ boardwalk for the balance of the event.

Car shows have a way of recalling memories of days gone by. I recall 47 years ago when I attended a car show as a participant for the very first time. It was this very show and being a participant in the show that allowed fond memories to be rekindled.
