Carshalton Lavender is an award-winning heritage community project, and London’s only Pick Your Own Lavender event. It opened its gates to the public for its 21st Pick Your Own Mini Harvests in August which enabled visitors to see the stalls selling the unique Carshalton Lavender essential oil, floral water, lavender crafts, lavender plants and locally handmade skincare. The lavender harvest is always an excellent opportunity for taking photos of friends and family in a beautiful outdoor setting, and this year was no exception. Lavender is a plant that offers several uses and is wellknown as a scent that can help relax the senses and reduce the feeling of anxiousness. When dried, lavender maintains its soothing aroma and can be used for all kinds of home remedies, crafts, beauty products and even in food. All Carshalton Heritage Lavender products contain essential oils harvested from the field. If you missed out on this year’s Harvest Weekend, other ways of obtaining products are noted on their website, where a small number of official stockists and producers who use the oil in their products are listed.

•Create a beautiful floral decoration for your home using dried lavender placed in beautiful cups, mugs and vases. •Culinary use - did you know dried lavender can be used in many recipes and will give your dishes a real wow factor. •Dry your lavender and hang in bunches to help scent rooms and linen. •As the nights draw in, why not create autumn or

Christmas gifts such as lavender bags, paper, pouches, candles, door stops and pillows. •Use the lavender oil to make handmade soaps, creams and lotions.
