This first full inspection for Banstead Prep at the end of September marked an important moment in the school’s history. Judged ‘excellent’ in all areas, the school for girls and boys aged 2-11 received a highly complimentary report in which inspectors commented on the school’s high academic standards, the quality of pupil achievement and the impeccable behaviour of children. Inspectors were particularly impressed by the sense of community that exists across the school. Noticing pupils’ strong team work and social skills, the inspectors saw how readily they help and support each other. They went on to say that the children’s strong social, collaborative and cooperative skills are what make the school so successful. Commenting on the report, Head Teacher Jon Chesworth said: “This fantastic report recognises the hard work and achievements of the entire Banstead Prep community. The inspectors were clearly impressed with what they saw and I was very proud to show them around our inclusive, happy and supportive school. I was particularly pleased the inspectors noted how kind our pupils are. They amaze me every day with their positive attitudes and the empathy they show to their friends. Showing respect and care for one another is very much at the heart of our community and is what makes our school such a wonderful place to learn and grow.” The report noted that children ‘achieve considerable success in entrance examinations to schools with high standards of entry’ and ‘benefit from highly supportive teaching, excellent resources and a carefully planned curriculum’.

EWELL CASTLE

Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep School

Pupils at Ewell Castle Nursery and Reception feel happy, safe, and secure. They benefit from small class sizes and the warmth that is evident in our interactions and our commitment to nurturing the potential in each child. By ensuring all seven areas of the EYFS curriculum are covered, especially Literacy, Phonics, Mathematics and Language; when compared to the literacy and mathematics achievement levels with children at other nurseries, (both locally and nationally) our pupils outperform them. At Ewell Castle our pupils learn but they also have fun, enjoying weekly Forest School, Dance, PE, and Art classes as well as less structured play times, when they develop the social skills of sharing and communication as well as natural curiosity and self-confidence.
