Fellow Cattlemen & Friends, We want to thank and welcome you to BNF Ranch’s First Annual Bull sale. A little bit about the dynamics of our family and how we became BNF. In 2019, our two families joined to become one crazy bunch! At that time, we had five, almost six, teenagers in the house!

Combining kids, cattle, and the personalities of all has been interesting at times … to say the least! One of the biggest struggles we’ve faced though, choosing a ranch name! While working to meet the catalog and ad deadlines, finally, one of the kids said just use the initials of our last names and call it good! At that point, we went with it. BNF. Now, as I sit here and start to write this intro, we have just concluded day three of the 2022 April Blizzard that hit so many of us in ND and the surrounding states. On top of that – in our area – we are on year three of drought conditions. We hope and pray, like so many, that this storm will be a turning point. So now, as I look at BNF, I think it should stand for Blended-N-Faith, as that is what we, along with all ranchers have had to keep relying on these last few years. Continued prayers & faith to so many as we all get through this storm, the after affects, ending of the drought in many areas, and hopefully market prices that will be satisfying come Fall!

Now onto the 2022 BNF bulls in this offering: We hope you approve of the genetics in this sale. It may not be the largest quantity, but we certainly feel the quality is there. Many of you may recognize some of the genetics being offered, as Heather has been a part of the Simmental breed since birth! Many years of breeding Simmentals can be seen in this set … just a new beginning prefix is all.

We were pleasantly surprised and pleased with how the bulls performed this Winter and Spring, considering the “not so normal” feed and hay we had access too. We believe in not pushing the bulls to ensure proper and natural growth and muscle development, as well as preservation of their feet and legs for lengthy future use. The yearlings are younger than a lot of bulls sold in the spring sales this year … many are Aprils, and one is even a mid-May. But look at our 2-year-olds and Fall bulls, as that is what these yearlings will look like as they mature. They are all athletic bulls that will be semen tested and ready to go on sale day.

SEMEN INTEREST BNF Ranch will retain 1/3 revenue-sharing semen interest on all bulls selling in this sale, unless otherwise stated. That buyer receives full possession and 100% salvage value.

HERD HEALTH Bulls have been treated with Bovi-Shield Gold, One Shot, 7-Way, and Dectomax. Health certificates will be provided for each lot.

BREEDING GUARANTEE Bulls are guaranteed to pass a semen test at turnout time. If a fertility problem occurs that is confirmed by a veterinarian, the buyer must return the bull to the seller in good health and have a minimum of at least 1# ADG since purchase for guarantee to apply for an exchange of an equal-quality bull, or for credit towards another purchase. In no case will the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. BNF Ranch will make every effort to ensure that you, our customer, is fully satisfied with the bull(s). This is not a life insurance policy. We will not replace a dead animal if it dies for any reason. Full mortality insurance can be purchased on sale day.

2006 - 2022 Where do I start with this lady? For many, maybe you don’t know her, but to our family, she was pretty special. She passed away this winter at the age of 16. She got her start of what I call “fame” by being the dam of KnH Added Value 58W, purchased by River Creek Farms and ABS & sold in the 2010 Edge of the West Sale for $29,000. From then on, she’s had countless other progeny go on to become high sellers, donors, and herd sires in the industry. Since this cow just flat worked no matter what she was bred to, we did keep and continue to have descendants of this great female which you will see in this bull sale and future BNF Sales.

Cows make the difference. 58S did just that. She was unique in many ways, and I wish she could’ve been utilized and flushed even more to produce more of her kind! A few of her daughters/granddaughters will hopefully follow closely in her footsteps, or perhaps even beyond!

Josh (Cribbs) with Our Perscpective really hit a home run when he took this pic of Mr 855J! This heifer suitable young bull out of the very popular OMF Epic bull should really turn some heads! He has a balanced set of EPDs, awesome pedigree, BW of 70#, 205 adj of 737#, & is a solid black purebred that definately has a look! Keep in mind...we were in a major drought last summer, had no forage, these bulls are getting fed very low quality feed this year (unfortunately)...what these 1st calf heifers did and how these bulls look now with what they’ve been given is remarkable! I pray normalicy comes back soon! This bull can help a program. Check him out!

As you read footnotes of the other bulls, the 58S cow family will come up a few times, as does 401B. The dam of this Epic bull comes from both those wonderful cows and she did a heck of a job her first time around - not to mention her 2022 bull looks pretty good, as a baby too! This lady is not a big gal herself, but she pours it all into the calf... now that’s productivity! This is definately a bull to use on heifers!

Another really good 156F son that goes back to the 58S cow family! His granddam, 358A, a KS Black Diamond cow, was one of the best flushes on 58S and gave us some of the best females. 358A and one of her full sisters are the two that I’d like to continue on with the 58S tradition. Here are 5 full brothers out of our donor, affectionately called Big Red. Unfortunately one year, while calving, she had a twisted uterus and is now unable to have a natural birth, so flushing is the only way to get progeny out of her. We believe Big Red is something special and are excited for her future! Her first natural calf, out of Hooks Yukon, sold in the ND State Simmental Sale to Miller Cattle and went on to be a multiple champion that following summer, but more importantly, a top cow for them now. Her second calf was a KnH Chisel bull that was the top indexing bull that year. Now, it’s her ET calves.

The heifers we got out of this Authority flush are tremendous. Big Red is just that ... capacious, big ribbed, massive, right-sized, correct, level topped and one of the most free moving cows we have, along with a unique and different pedigree. We hope to have a pic of her this summer and more embryos in the future.
