THE LIGHTING OF THE ADVENT WREATH Drop down ye heavens from above and let the sky pour down righteousness. (v4) Blessed are you, sovereign Lord, merciful and gentle: to you be praise and glory for ever. Your light has shone in our darkened world through the child-bearing of blessed Mary; grant that we who have seen your glory may daily be renewed in your image and prepared like her for the coming of your Son, who is the Lord and Saviour of all. After the Dismissal PRAYER OF ST MICHAEL Holy Michael, Archangel, defend us in the day of battle. Be thou our defence against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust down to hell Satan, and all wicked spirits, who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen. THE ANGELUS The angel of the Lord brought tidings to Mary And she conceived by the Holy Ghost. Behold the handmaid of the Lord. be it unto me according to thy word. The Word was made flesh. And dwelt amongst us.

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray. We beseech thee O Lord, pour thy grace into our hearts: that, as we have known the Incarnation of thy Son Jesus Christ by the message of an Angel, so by his Cross and Passion we may be brought to the glory of his resurrection, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Father Michael Cain (RIP) My dear Brothers and Sisters, Father Mike died peacefully last Sunday in Torbay Hospital Please keep Father Mike in your prayers and also Wendy and all the family. Fr Mike has travelled with our community for many years and has touched the lives of many throughout his priestly ministry. His Funeral Mass will be at 2.00pm on Tuesday 10th of January and his body will rest in Church the night before. We will offer a requiem for Fr Mike this Tuesday at 7.00pm and I hope you can be here to pray for him as well as for Wendy and family. Fr David O GOD, who didst cause thy servant Michael, for whom we pray, to enjoy the office of Priest after the order of thine Apostles: grant unto him, we beseech thee; finally to rejoice in the company of those thy Saints in heaven whose ministry he did sometime share on earth; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end.
