The first Radio opened its doors on the 12th of September 2010 in Redchurch Street, Shoreditch, East London.

The book celebrates our first decade.

We chose the name Radio because it was evocative, a transgressive nod to the analogue in a world moving frenetically towards the digital.

It was to be a platform for creativity, familiar and open to all, transparent, everywhere and nowhere — a context for life.

Close your eyes, listen and dream.

From the beginning we wanted to be a Hair and Gallery space.

We wanted to celebrate the art of hairdressing.

Although our language was that of hair and how it was styled, it was the image that would speak for the work — and tell a story in a brief glimpse caught from the corner of the eye.

We play with hair to create moods, feelings, reactions, responses, shock and surprise.

A Shout To Our Friends

Concept & Hair by Radio Hairdressing is all about people, and Radio was lucky from the start.

We always had good people.

And we knew that if we created a platform where those people could express themselves, everything (well, almost everything) would take care of itself.

And that’s how it happened.

And as we grew, we grew closer.

We shared life, love and a lot of laughter.

Colleagues became friends, then close friends.

And we became much more than the sum of our parts.

We became Radio.
