Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: Women’s History Month

P

resident Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation establishing the first Women’s History Month celebrated by the United States Government on March 4th, 1988. In his proclamation, President Reagan commented, “Women continue to strengthen the family and enrich our lives with intellectual gifts, creative talents, and indomitable spirit.” Every March since that year has been officially recognized as Women’s History Month in the United States. We decided to celebrate this year’s Women’s History Month by recognizing some of the amazing women in our community. The Exceptional Women in Business section of this magazine highlights the accomplishments and talents of some of the women who make this city such a great place to live and raise a family. The contributions women have made to every field and endeavor are infinite. Accomplishments like Marie Curie’s work in physics or Rosa Parks’ bravery that ignited the civil rights movement are even more noteworthy when considering the obstacles they had to overcome. It’s heartening to see accomplished women in positions of power. Today the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel is serving her fourth term. The CEOs of companies like General Motors and Fidelity Investments are women, as are Vice President Harris and Speaker of the House Pelosi. Those leaders would certainly not be where they are today without the accomplishments of countless women before them. It reminds us of Issac Newton’s famous quote, “I have seen further by standing on the shoulders of giants.” As we reflect during this year’s Women’s History Month, we can’t help but wonder on whose shoulders our daughters and granddaughters will be standing. Sincerely,

Terry & Christy Jaillet

In a socially-distanced course setup at Woodmont Country Club, the annual golf tournament led by title sponsor, PuroClean, helped raise funds to support the Chamber’s efforts while they continue to provide essential partnerships to offer resources and guidance to members to help them thrive and survive amid the pandemic. A small business itself, PuroClean, a restoration and remediation franchise supporting property damage, has had a dedicated partnership with the Chamber over the years. Their long-standing relationship has proven

highly beneficial as the Tamarac-based company continues to hire people in the community and keep them employed during this unique time. “Being the title sponsor for the PuroClean Golf Classic is a true honor because it allows us the privilege to partner together with the Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce to raise funds for small businesses within the Broward county area. Our foundation of servant leadership shines the most when our community needs our support,” explained Frank Torre, Vice Chairman of PuroClean. “Last week’s golf outing not only brought small business owners together but also allowed our local Chamber of Commerce an opportunity to work toward providing those businesses with continued support and educational resources amid the pandemic.”

It was a great day of teamwork as participants showed their support to each other and the community while raising $13,000 for the Chamber. The winning team was comprised of Santiago Lago, Gus Camacho, Luis Gurrieres, and Ryan O’Donnell of ADP Payroll Services. “With the PuroClean Classic, we provided funding for small businesses, the City of Tamarac’s Parks & Recreation Foundation (PAROT), and provided financial assistance to families in need to support no child or senior ever having to be turned away from participating in a program, as well as helping with special needs playground equipment. It was a magnificent day with great causes that not even COVID-19 could stop,” exclaimed Peter Mason, Executive Director of the Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce.

Vivace Express Brings

Authentic Italian Cuisine to Coral Springs & Parkland Homes

N

orth Broward families can now get a taste of authentic Italian food, delivered right to their homes. Chef Vito DiSalvo, Executive Chef and Founder of Vivace Gourmet Pizza and Pasta in Plantation, recently opened a new concept in Coral Springs called Vivace Express which offers take-out and delivery meals prepared from scratch. The restaurant offers something for everyone in the family. In addition to freshbased, hand-tossed pizza, they have Italian American classics like Chicken Parmesan and Fettuccine Alfredo along with authentic Italian dishes like Arancini, Polenta Fries, Wild Mushroom Risotto, and even Black & White Truffle Pizza! The new restaurant, which offers take-out and delivery only, is a bit of a departure

By Jon Duka

from Chef Vito’s traditional dine-in location in Plantation. We sat down with him to learn more. Tell us about Vivace Express. Vivace Gourmet Pizza and Pasta has been open in Plantation for a little over five years. We decided to expand our concept to Coral Springs and open a take-out/delivery only restaurant. We saw the negative effects the global pandemic had on dine in service and positive impacts on take-out and delivery. We opened Vivace Express, our new location in Coral Springs to evolve our restaurant concept to be on the edge of change while also continuing our tradition of "from scratch cooking" with local produce, hand-tossed pizzas, and true hospitable service. We created a convenient and economic way for our neighbors, customers, friends, and family to

enjoy our food through take-out & delivery. Sounds Great. What types of dishes are available? Besides those previously mentioned, Vivace Express also offers other Italian Classics like Veal Milanese, Gnocchi served with Sausage, Mushrooms and Spicy Tomato Sauce, Shrimp and Tortellini Pesto, Chicken Romano, and our signature “Dessert Calzone” made with Nutella and Mascarpone Cheese. We also offer an extensive variety of specialty pizzas including Philly Cheese Steak, Chicken Spinach Alfredo, Prosciutto, and Arugula. One of my favorites is the Santina Pizza, named after my wife, with a pesto base instead of tomato sauce, topped with grilled chicken, caramelized onions, roasted bell peppers, pine nuts, mozzarella, and feta cheese.

Wow, you bring truly authentic Italian dishes right to people’s dining rooms. How did you become a Chef? I graduated from the Culinary Institute of America with a culinary degree and earned my bachelor’s in hospitality management from Florida International University. I then decided to move to Florence, Italy where I worked at a world-famous three-Michelin star restaurant called Enoteca Pinchiorri. Can people order Vivace Express through third-party apps? Yes, our menu is available through Uber Eats, DoorDdash, and Grubhub. Customers who live outside of our normal delivery radius can also use one of those apps to enjoy our food. Do you offer any weekly specials? Yes! Our Thursday night take-out Pizza Special has been so popular in Plantation,

we decided to bring it to the Coral Springs location: A large Cheese pizza is only $9.99 for takeout on Thursdays. We also have a $9.99 Lasagna special on Monday nights. Our best specials are offered on our weekly email. Be sure to sign up at www.vivaceexpress.com Do you offer catering? Yes, in addition to take-out and delivery we offer catering services. We can customize menus for parties of almost any size. We also offer a “Family Style” Menu which can be found on our website. What are your hours? Vivace Express is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday and Dinneronly on weekends.

CELEBRATING WOMEN

WELCOME TO

EXCEPTIONAL WOMEN IN BUSINESS

Kimberly Martin

n celebration of Women's History Month, Our City is profiling these successful women to inspire the next generation of leaders in our community.

Meirav Susi Realtor

RE/MAX ParkCreek

Owner/Director Kiddie Academy of Coral Springs

HER STORY

Kimberly’s journey into the early childhood field started when she had to send her daughter to pre-school. She remembers dropping her sweet baby off and thinking how lucky the ladies would be working with the children. She decided then to pursue her dream job: Fingerpainting, playing with play-dough, reading stories, dancing and singing, exploring sand, and making an edible school bus. Kimberly eventually changed her degree path from

HER STORY

Meirav is a Realtor with RE/MAX ParkCreek serving Broward County. She takes pride in knowing and serving her neighbors in all their real estate needs. She sets herself apart by knowing the community inside and out. Schools, churches, health clubs, libraries, parks, zoning codes—these are all important things to consider when looking to buy a home.

HOW HAS BEING A WOMAN AFFECTED YOUR CAREER?

I had to learn fast how to juggle motherhood and a new career when I started Real Estate. I was lucky enough to have a husband that encouraged me and supported me to follow my dreams.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG WOMEN?

Always reach for the stars and never let anyone tell you that you can’t be successful.

“Don’t be intimidated by what you don’t know. That can be your greatest strength and ensure that you do things differently from everyone else.” ―Sara Blakely 24 / March 2021 / OurCityMedia.com

nursing to Early Childhood Education and has been in the field for over 30 years. Every hug, smile, and laugh of each of the children she has had the pleasure of teaching makes it all worthwhile.

HOW HAS BEING A WOMAN AFFECTED YOUR CAREER?

Being a woman gave me a better understanding of how hard it is to juggle family and career. As a mother of four, and a grandparent of 7, I know what a big decision it is to leave your baby or young child in the care of someone you do not know. It is such an honor when parents choose our program. I do my best to provide a family-friendly atmosphere with all my heart while also providing a safe environment with open communication with parents. .

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG WOMEN?

I believe that caring for and teaching young children is the most important job on the planet. It is also the most rewarding career that impacts little humans’ lives. The day you spend with the children exploring, playing, and growing help turn each child in your care into a good citizen. Then, in turn, it makes the community where you live a better place, now and in the future..

Dr. Monique Rodriguez(Bain)

Dyan’s Country Kitchen Bagels & Deli

HER STORY

Dyan has been a restauranteur, entrepreneur, and owner/ operator for over 40 years. She opened Dyan’s Country Kitchen about fifteen years ago with the idea that combining fantastic guest relations with fresh, quality food preparation will bring in long-term customers. Dyan oversees all of the day-to-day management of the restaurant. Everything from ordering food to hiring staff to accounting is part of her job. It is the life of a true entrepreneur!.

HOW HAS BEING A WOMAN AFFECTED YOUR CAREER?

I have always loved people, and being in this business since before my college days was a great way to learn to be hardworking and self-reliant as a young woman. It took me in a direction to where I am today and to allow myself the opportunity to have my own business and the many sacrifices and responsibilities that go with that. I have raised three wonderful daughters, and as a woman, that and family are the most important things to me.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG WOMEN?

Find what you love or what genuinely interests you or your natural abilities, and work with that towards what you may choose as a career. Have faith in God and faith in yourself always. Enjoy what you do and get educated continually. Balance your life and be good to yourself and others. Save your money. Most importantly, have joy and love in your life as a woman, and don’t be afraid to work hard even if your business is in a “man’s” world! Every day is a workday in our business, seven days a week, in the range of 60-80 hours a week. You must be committed to be successful in the restaurant business. There are many “hats” you will wear at a restaurant. Always make the customer your #1 priority. It is very rewarding when you are successfully doing it..

HER STORY

Dr. Bain helps her patients with physical pain, emotional pain, recovery from injuries, infertility, and sports injury prevention. She also helps people increase sports performance, improve immune system response and, much more. An acupuncture Physician uses an entire system of Chinese Medicine to help patients. Dr. Bain is an expert in diagnosis, nutrition, physical/orthopedic exam, herbal medicine, supplement prescription, rehabilitation, and the ordering and interpretation of lab tests and images(such as blood work or x-rays).

HOW HAS BEING A WOMAN AFFECTED YOUR CAREER? I don’t believe that being a woman has affected my career negatively. I never thought being the only woman in the room was a challenge. I looked at it as an opportunity to stand out and more likely to be remembered. The only challenge I have faced as a woman is balancing career and family. Being a wife, parent of 4, and entrepreneur can be challenging at times; having the responsibilities of my practice, family and trying to find ways to devote time to both is key to achieving that “elusive” work-life balance.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG WOMEN?

Hard work and perseverance are the keys to success. Be eager to learn without being a pushover. Find other women to connect with that can mentor you. Play your own game and stay away from comparing yourself and your journey to others. Don’t ever stop learning, be independent in your practice and a team player at the same time.

“At the end of the day, you are the only one that is limiting your ability to dream, or to actually execute on your dreams. Don’t let yourself get in the way of that.” ― Falon Fatemi

HOW HAS BEING A WOMAN AFFECTED YOUR CAREER?

“It is pure mythology that women cannot perform as well as men in science, engineering and mathematics. In my experience, the opposite is true: women are often more adept and patient at untangling complex problems, multitasking, seeing the possibilities in new solutions and winning team support for collaborative action.” ― Weili Dai

28 / March 2021 / OurCityMedia.com

Being a single mom of three during the early years of my career was the most challenging as I had to juggle being a mom and full-time Realtor. Finding the right brokerage that is supportive and gives you the technology and resources needed in a fast-growing paced environment went a long way in helping me stay balanced. I could grow my business and still spend the time I needed to with my family.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG WOMEN?

For young women who have a passion for working with others and are looking to get into the real estate business, becoming a real estate agent can be a great career option. While being a young real estate agent has its challenges, you should not let your youth deter you from achieving your dreams. Instead, it would help if you used it to your advantage. Learn as much as you can and find a mentor who has been in the business for years and will guide you.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Parkland Named Safest City in Florida By Jon Duka

T

here are many reasons people from around the country are flocking to live in Parkland. One of them: Parkland is the safest city in Florida. The website HomeSnacks ranked Parkland as the safest city in Florida. 2021 marks the highest-ranking Parkland has attained since the rankings were first published in 2013. HomeSnacks claims to “paint a picture of what’s happening in a region based on ‘Friday Night Science’ — how’d you argue at a

bar. To do that, they gather data from around the web to help determine a wide array of factors about where you live, things like safety, desirability, and culture.” This year’s rankings mark the seventh time the site has published its findings. Parkland has been included on their list each year. Weston was the only other Broward city on the list, coming in at third. To determine the rankings, researchers reviewed several criteria to give a city its overall score. Cities were indexed and ranked on various crimes, including murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, car theft, and arson. Parkland was near the top in the state for every category. According to the survey, Parkland was the second safest city for violent crimes and the third safest city for property crime. Parkland had 198 total crimes in 2021, which is a rate of 562 per 100,000 people. The low crime rate puts Parkland 77% below the national average.

In addition to Parkland and Weston, the top ten included Marco Island, Longboat Key, Flagler Beach, Sanibel, Indian Harbour Beach, North Palm Beach, Bay Harbor Islands, and Lake Alfred. Parkland’s number-one ranking returned the city to its previous position as an extremely safe place despite the horrible school shooting three years ago. The same study found the most dangerous cities in Florida to be Florida City, Lake City and Opa Locka, in that order. In HomeSnacks’ broader “Best Places to Live” rankings, Parkland came in at 10th. The city ranked highly for job opportunity, housing, safety, amenities, diversity, and education, with only affordability and commute time dragging down its scores. The study criteria included median home values, median income, population density, unemployment rate, commute time, crime, education levels, health insurance coverage, and poverty rates. It noted that Parkland has a population of 31,454, a median income of $154,844, a median home value of $611,800, and an unemployment rate of 3.6 percent.

THE DONOWAY CENTER NEW HOPE FOR PANCREATIC CANCER PATIENTS

Robert B. Donoway, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.S.S.O. Diplomate American Board of Surgery Diplomate, Society of Surgical Oncology Former Medical Director Memorial Cancer Center Medical Director, Atlas Oncology: Institute for Pancreatic Cancer IRE/NanoKnife Ablation

Patients diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer have few treatment options. However, a new procedure called Irreversible Electroporation or IRE for short has changed that for many patients who are seeing a doubling and tripling of their life expectancies. Dr. Robert Donoway, who has one of the largest International experiences for performing this procedure on the pancreas and liver is a Hollywood based, Sloan Kettering trained Pancreatic Surgical Oncologist, and former medical director of two of the local cancer programs remains among a very small handful of Pancreatic surgeons who perform the procedure which is done in the operating room as an outpatient. During the procedure, Dr. Donoway places fine needle probes under direct ultrasound guidance into and around the pancreatic tumor while carefully avoiding critical structures. High voltage current up to 3000 volts is then delivered in 90-microsecond pulses synchronized with the patient’s heart rhythm to avoid any cardiac problems. The pulses destroy the cancer cell membranes which then causes the tumor to die and be absorbed by the body. The average procedure lasts approximately 1-2 hours and the patients may be discharged the following day. A brief recovery means the patient can start chemotherapy and radiation that much sooner. Dr. Donoway is participating in several clinical studies identifying the best chemotherapy and immunotherapies to be used along with IRE. Dr. Donoway states, “The results so far have been very encouraging and we have begun using it for other select cancers. The longest survivors are now out over 5 years and without evidence of cancer recurrence. In the past, without IRE they would have been likely to have only lived a year and so this technique opens the whole new avenue for treating those eligible patients in a more targeted fashion.” For more information about Dr. Donoway and the Pancreatic-IRE/NanoKnife Program and clinical trials call 305-682-1995 and visit www.AtlasOncology.com

Light at the End of the Tunnel

COVID Tops Legislative Agenda By State Rep. Christine Hunschofsky

O

n March 1, 2020, we had the first announcement that two Floridians had tested positive for COVID-19. The virus has impacted our lives in so many ways from our health to our economy, from how we connect with one another and how we do business, from how we learn to how we shop. So much has changed in our lives this past year and now with several vaccines available, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. As we wait for more vaccine supply to become available, please visit https://floridahealthcovid19.gov for updates and continue to take precautions to minimize the spread as we wait for vaccines. March 2, 2021, is Opening Day for the Florida Legislative Session. The Florida Legislature meets every year for 60 consecutive days of session and while some things will be different this year, there is much work for us to get done. We will be tackling issues such as unemployment, insurance rates, early literacy, climate change, and flooding, among many other issues important to the residents of the State of Florida. During the session, I will continue to provide you with updates. If you wish to join our email list, please email Lisa.Librizzi@myfloridahouse.gov to be added to the list. Additionally, you can visit www.myfloridahouse. gov to watch meetings, review agendas, and presentations, and track bills that have been submitted. Please reach out to us at HDIST096@myfloridahouse.gov regarding any particular concerns you have with bills coming in front of us for debate and vote. I value your input and your perspective. March is also Women’s History Month and a time we recognize and celebrate the contributions Women have made to our country and history. Our office is holding a Women’s History essay contest for students grades K-12 in District 96. To participate, please send us your essay of 500 words or less about a woman who you look up to or who you feel has made a positive contribution to our society. We want to know why this woman is special to you. It could be someone from history or someone you know today. Email us the essay to Lisa.Librizzi@myfloridahouse. gov with “Essay Contest” in the subject line. Please include your name, email, and phone number. We will have three winners from grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve you in the Florida House. Please reach out to our office if we can be of assistance with unemployment issues, vaccine distribution information, or if you have a concern you would like addressed. It is our pleasure to help wherever we can. In the meantime, follow me on Facebook at @RepHunschofsky and on Twitter at @chunschofsky for more updates. As always, I look forward to hearing from you!

xactly one year ago our lives were dramatically changed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was in March 2020 that we saw our first COVID-19 case confirmed in Florida and declared a State of Emergency for the City of Coral Springs. We quickly shifted our focus to the health, safety, and welfare of the community – especially our most vulnerable citizens. One year later our attention remains on the virus, but our efforts have shifted to the mass distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. We are proud to have opened a vaccine distribution site at the Coral Square Mall and implemented a mobile distribution plan to include senior living communities, homebound seniors, and underserved communities. To date we have administered about 31,000 doses. Appointments for COVID-19 vaccination sites for seniors ages 65 and older, and frontline healthcare workers are scheduled through the State of Florida website myvaccine.fl.gov or by calling (866) 201-6313, for TTY use (844) 252-2003. March is Women’s History Month, and in the City of Coral Springs we are excited to celebrate women for their outstanding contributions to our city through the newly launched ‘Her Story’ campaign. We encourage residents and local businesses to nominate inspirational women making an impact in our city or in influencing others by visiting www.coralsprings.org/herstory. Looking for a way to serve your community and keep Coral Springs clean? Join us on March 6 for the 44th Annual Broward County Waterway Clean Up. Register online to participate, www. waterwaycleanup.org. On March 10, the City of Coral Springs will host its third Open Play Chess Session at the Coral Springs Gymnasium from 6 to 8 p.m. Pre-registration is required for participants and spectators. For more information, please visit www.coralsprings.org/events. We encourage you to remain vigilant to prevent the spread of COVID-19, continue to wear a facial covering, remain socially distanced and follow good personal hygiene.

MESSAGE FROM THE VICE MAYOR

Time to “Spring Forward” to Better Days

T

he month of March is usually the time when we think about springing forward as daylight savings time commences giving us an extra hour of sunshine. Spring centers around “Spring Cleaning,” “Spring Break,” and the religious holidays of Passover and Easter which symbolize hope and renewal. This year, however, March will be different for all of us as it is marked by the anniversary of the first reported COVID-19 case in Florida. Some have called it the “COVID Crisis” while others call it the “COVID Catalyst.” Whatever lens you look through, the impacts of the virus have been devastating on the health and well-being of our families, our educational system, and our local economy. Yet, we need to be thankful and applaud the painstaking efforts of our frontline health care workers, first responders, educational professionals, and all those essential workers who were and still are critical to help us adapt to mitigate the crisis

By Vice Mayor Bob Mayersohn

and create innovated opportunities. As we strive for “herd immunity” the work to distribute and administer the vaccines is an indication of hope, yet we still must be vigilant in preventing the spread by wearing our mask, social distancing, and washing our hands. For COVID-19 updates and resources please visit our website at https://www. cityofparkland.org/coronavirus. Not to go unnoticed, March is also Women’s History Month. This is a time we reflect on the often-overlooked contribution of women to United States History as well to the City of Parkland. On a positive note, this month we are bringing back some of our extremely popular events such as Eats n’ Beats on March 13th and Movies in the Park on March 26th. We still have our incredible Farmers’ Market on March 7th which will showcase our Community awareness and business expo and March 21st we include our Health and Wellness vendors.

Our City Commission meetings this month will be on Wednesday, March 3rd and March 17th starting at 7pm. You can see our agendas at www.cityofparkland.org/cc. and watch our meetings livestream at www.cityofparkland. org/1304/Live-City-Commission-Meetings. Finally, I want to thank Mayor Walker for passing the pen to provide me the opportunity to be a guest contributor this month. Thank you, Mayor..

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

Don’t Lose Weight, Lose FAT With

S

Slender Fit U

pring is just around the corner. Many of us would like to get our bodies beach-ready and lose a few pounds; while, for others, losing weight and keeping it off is a life-long struggle. Luckily, Geri Kelleher, Founder and Program Director of Slender Fit U®, has a proven weight loss program that takes the struggle out of losing fat. Geri built her reputation on doing what works, and it shows. In fact, she started her business after losing 25lbs herself. Slender Fit U ® clients enjoy a 90% success rate, losing between ½ and 2 pounds of fat per DAY! Geri and her team have been helping people lose weight, and more importantly fat, since 2010. We sat down with Geri to learn more about the program and how it is changing people’s lives. What makes Slender Fit U ® unique? Slender Fit U uses only the highest quality hCG in the strongest recommended dosage; they do not water down the hCG like many other clinics. Lipotropic vitamin B12 shots complete the package by helping to detoxify the liver and increase your metabolism and energy level, while also reducing hunger. How much weight will I lose with the Slender Fit U ® Program? Most Slender Fit U ® dieters report a loss of 1/2 lb up to 2 lbs a day. Men generally lose more weight than women. Women typically lose 15 lbs on the 23-day program and up to 30 lbs on the 46-day program if following the program correctly. Men typically lose 20 to 25 lbs on the 23-day program and up to 40 lbs on the 46-day program if following the program correctly. Is it healthy to lose 1 to 2 pounds a day? hCG weight loss studies have shown that the weight lost while following the protocol comes directly from adipose fat tissue rather than lean muscle. In doing so, the weight loss comes directly from fat and does not strip the body of much-needed muscle, vitamins or minerals essential to maintain good health. At the same time, excessive amounts of fat-stored nutrients are released into the bloodstream to be absorbed by the body. How does the Slender Fit U program work? Our program is simple. It causes your body to break down the abnormal stored fat for calories – not the muscle – easily and comfortably providing your body with much-needed fuel. Hunger is gone. And, the more fat you have the quicker you lose that fat. The Slender Fit U ® program only targets abnormal/stored fat and turns your own body into a fat-burning machine. 40 / March 2021 / OurCityMedia.com

By John Brodie

Is this diet safe if I am concerned about the Covid 19 virus? If you would prefer not coming into the office, the entire process can be done remotely. The short physical you will need prior to getting the prescription for hCG will be done virtually via telehealth. After the check-up you can schedule an appointment at the Davie office or we will ship all you need to get started on the diet. We will be available by phone during our regular office hours to answer ques-tions and give you step by step instructions on any aspects of the diet that you are not clear on. Will I be hungry on the Slender Fit U ® very low-calorie diet? 80% of people experience no hunger on the Slender Fit U ® program, even from day one. Some people experience mild hunger during the first few days, however, this will pass and you will find even very tiny servings, to be completely satisfying. This is partly due to your hypothalamus adjusting your metabolic rate, but largely due to the number of calories circulating in your system from the fat being released. It is common that hCG dieters feel as though they are stuffing themselves in order to reach that 500 to 800 calorie limit! Why don’t dieting and exercise work alone? Many people diet and work out regularly to burn calories, but can lose stored fat no matter how closely they watch what they eat or how much time they spend in the gym. The reason? This fat is “locked-in.” Eating more calories than you need forces the body to store the extra calories as fat. With a healthy metabolism, this normal fat is available for extra energy throughout the day.
