a Rural Argentine Grill serves the best steaks this side of Buenos Aires.

The steakhouse started as a small grocery and butcher selling premium cuts of Certified Black Angus Beef. It began with one table in the back and quickly grew into a full-service restaurant. While you can still shop its gourmet market, La Rural now offers a complete menu of Argentinean-style steaks and fine wines, along with a selection of Italian dishes.

The house specialties include the Entraña (skirt steak), Vacio (flap meat), and the Gaucho’s favorite, Asado de Tira (short ribs). For a true taste of Argentina, try the Tablita La Rural. This grilled sampler platter features Chorizo Argentino (cured pork sausage), Morcilla (blood sausage), Mollejas (sweetbreads), Salchicha Parrillera (pinwheel sausage) accompanied by grilled peppers and marinated artichoke hearts.

La Rural’s famous empanadas are a great way to start any meal, or top one off with one of the restaurant’s authentic Argentinean pastries for dessert. here is always something going on at Weston Regional Park, that’s why it is this year’s pick for the Best Place to Be Seen.

The 102-acre park offers everything from recreational outlets for all ages to cultural programming, running the gamut from children’s puppet shows to movies under the stars to familyfriendly rock concerts.

Each year, thousands gather for the popular Concert in the Park put on by the Rotary Club of Weston and the City of Weston. It is one of Broward’s largest free musical events.

Recreational attractions at the park include 8 football/soccer fields, 8 basketball courts, 8 baseball/softball diamonds, 3 volleyball courts, 7 roller hockey rinks, a skate park, plus an 8,000 foot exercise trail weaving throughout the park.

The park also features shaded playgrounds, including one universally accessible playground. While the kids play, parents can utilize the park’s free WiFi. he International Dance Academy (IDA) is one of the preeminent ballet schools in South Florida.

Dancers study the acclaimed Royal Academy of Dance method, the most highly-regarded training and examining body for classical ballet in the world. IDA is the only studio in South Florida offering this prestigious academic program.

The International Dance Academy serves as a feeder school to the International Ballet Company. Two members of this prestigious company competed in the Genée International Ballet Competition in Cape Town, South Africa. This was the first time in 90 years that a dancer from Florida qualified for the event referred to as the World Olympics of ballet.

Each year the studio presents a full-scale professional production of The Nutcracker ballet. The holiday spectacle features a cast of over 130 talented dancers of all ages and skill levels, from the tiniest mouse to the exquisite Sugar Plum Fairy. The production includes stunning costumes, extravagant scenery and magnificent stage effects.

Although recognized as South Florida’s premier ballet school, the International Dance Academy offers a complete menu of dance classes for all ages. amp Chameleon provides children with an opportunity to play, have fun and just be kids!

From its location in Markham Park, it encourages enjoyment of the outdoors and teaches children an appreciation for nature. Physical activity is emphasized with a variety of non-competitive sports and games, including good old fashioned games like wiffle ball, kickball, dodgeball, boxball, and gaga ball. The camp also encourages participation in creative art and science projects, music, dance, and lots of special events.

And, of course, it’s not summer camp without Color War! Campers enjoy daily field trips to local pools and aquatic parks, along with other favorite indoor destinations such as bowling, movies, arcades, roller skating, and painting and ceramics, to name a just few.

Camp Chameleon offers programs for students from kindergarten through 8th grade, as well as a Counselor in Training program for students entering 9th and 10th grades. All elementary school age campers receive Red Cross instructional swimming lessons.

Children are immersed in the Spanish language and can become fluent speakers.

For students in the youngest classes (0-2 years old) almost the entire class is taught in Spanish, with the exception of Circle Time and some commands.

Students in the 3 and 4-year-old programs spend about half the day learning English and half learning Spanish. However, the state-funded VPK program is taught in English.

The curriculum is a discovery-based learning experience in which children learn basic concepts and skills through hands-on experiences and activities. At My Little Genius, students move through specially designed learning centers using a rotary system. Each classroom houses a different specialty. The students rotate from classroom to classroom with their teacher. Subject areas include core subjects such as language and science, as well as art, cooking and computers.

Children also love the school’s enormous outdoor playground. It features an assortment of climbing structures and slides, play houses, and multiple cars and tricycles. In addition to playground time, children participate in sports and physical fitness programs.

This past year, Kids Helping Kids helped make the first day of school special for students at Royal Palm Elementary School. eston’s Royal Egg Hunt has become a time-honored tradition. For longer than Weston has been a City, children have enjoyed this annual event. While the Royal Egg Hunt has certainly grown over the years, with up to 3,000 children collecting 20,000 eggs, it continues to bring Weston residents together.

This year’s Royal Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 7th at 10am sharp at Weston Regional Park, baseball fields one through four. The egg hunt is open to children, ages ten and under. There will be separate egg hunts for different age groups; parents will be permitted on the fields only with the five and under age group. Children should bring their own baskets to collect some of the 20,000 candy-filled eggs or one of the special eggs, which can be redeemed for small prizes.

The fun doesn’t stop after all the eggs have been gathered. Children can take pictures with the Royal Bunny and enjoy the bounce houses until noon.

Weston Mayor Eric Hersh says providing arts and cultural events helps make Weston a premier family community. Through this program, the City’s goal is to bring residents together to enjoy quality events, and be able to spend time with family, friends and neighbors.

The popular Moonlight Movies in the Park runs October through April. Each month a different free, family-friendly feature film is shown on the giant inflatable screen at Weston Regional Park. People pack lawn chairs and blankets, plus plenty of popcorn, to enjoy showtime under the stars.

Children experience the excitement of live theater with three wonderful stage performances. There are also free puppet shows for children.

The City of Weston and the Weston Philharmonic Society bring worldclass orchestras to Weston each season. This year, all ages enjoyed Cirque de la Symphonie, featuring cirque-style performers’ magical movements carefully choreographed to familiar orchestral classics performed by the Symphony of the Americas under the direction of Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese.

et FIT Weston is an incredible community-wide initiative to make Weston the fittest city in Florida. The 60-day program, a partnership between the City of Weston and the Rotary Club of Weston, provides participants with unlimited Get FIT fitness classes at one of the eleven Get FIT Weston fitness partners. For two months, Weston residents walk, run, bike and move their way to a healthier lifestyle.

Get FIT Weston culminates with the Rotary’s Annual “Run for Tomorrow” which consists of a 5K and a half-marathon. There is also the Mayor’s Challenge Cup one mile walk for elementary school students. The school with the highest percentage of participation takes home a trophy and $500 check from the Rotary Club of Weston. Of course, all schools are winners with Get FIT Weston.

Proceeds from the program go toward afterschool Y-Fit programs in Weston schools.

Following the races, everyone is invited to the Get FIT Festival, a free health, wellness and fitness event. It features over 40 vendors showcasing everything from health foods and supplements to the latest exercise equipment and health services. Local healthcare providers are on hand providing on-site health screenings. There is live entertainment throughout the day, as well as exercise and fitness demonstrations. Children enjoy playing in the bounce house and tossing the ball around on a grass football field “planted” in Weston Town Center. While the kids play, adults can test their strength at the Billy Beck III Superman Challenge, a timed boot camp-style obstacle course.
