On the night of Sunday, March 8, 2015 at ten fifty pm; Mary Carter Green, age 85, heard the voice of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ calling her to come home and be at rest. She was born from the union of the late Henderson, Sr. and Estella Carter on March 25, 1929 in Magnolia, Mississippi. At an early age, she was taught to believe in the Lord with all her heart and strength, and to trust in him knowing that He would direct her path in life. With this knowledge and faith, she united with Sherman Line Missionary Baptist Church, where she was baptized under the late Rev. G.W. Holden and later moved to Marrero, Louisiana and united with Macedonia Baptist Church were she served as a Deaconess under the late Rev. Meachem. Later in her life she joined her present church, Second St. John under the late Rev. Vernon Joshua and now Rev. Charlie Davis. She was educated in the public schools of Magnolia, Mississippi and later met and united in holy matrimony for 50+ years to Willie Lee Green also of Magnolia, Mississippi on December 23, 1948. The Lord blessed this union with 10 children.

Mary Carter Green was a devoted wife, mother and friend. After moving to New Orleans, LA she worked as a homemaker and bean packer at L. H. Hayward for 27 years until she retired.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving, devoted and caring children, Sons: James Edward Green, Frank Dennis Green and Kenneth Lloyd Green (Troylynn); Daughters: Linda Marie Swan (John), Geneva Green, Clementine G. Coleman, Willie Claudette G. Jones and Mary Lorraine Gibson (Charles); One Daughter-in-law Annie B. Green; Three Brothers: John L. Carter, Sr. (Deandria), L. E. Carter, Sr. (Betty) and Ernest Carter (Addie Joyce); Three Sisters: Gladys Taylor (Charlie), Stella C. L. Holmes (Melvin) and Velma Royal (Owen); In-Laws: Carrie Carter Srowder, Ruby Carter, Annie Felder, Margie Martin, Elthea J. Washington, Cynthia Garfield and Willie Mae Smith; 31 Grandchildren: Bernard, Jr. (Vera), Fredrick, Denise (Christopher), Brenda, James, Jr., (Tarah), Delmonique, Erin, Joshua, Daniel (Ashantay), Karen, Donald, Jr., Nadine, Artisha (Junior), Aretine, Kenneth Jr., Karson, Nicole (Samuel), Nekeisha (Sean), John, III (Shenna), Genika (Kernell), Geraldmiah (LaCresha), Glenn (Kizzy), Travis (Yolanis), Ashley (Corey), Jarred, Chante’, Charles, Jr., Jonathan, Stephen and Quentin; 36 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; Devoted Family Friends: Pamela Green, Debra Smith, Sonji Warner, Henry Mokosso, Glenn Coleman, Sr., H.P. White and Donald R. Jones Proceeded in death by her loving husband Willie Lee Green, Parents Henderson, Sr. and Estella Norman Carter; 2 sons: Bernard Green, Sr. and Donald Green, Sr.; One grandchild, Christian Gibson; One great grandchild, Jeremy K. Green; 4 brothers, Henderson Carter, Jr., Willie Carter, Sr., James Carter and J. Lee Carter; In-Laws: Rosella Carter, J.Y. Lenoir, Thomas H. Green and James Edward Green and Edith Martin.

I’m Free…

Don't Grieve for me for now I’m free.

I'm following the path that God laid for me I took his hand when I heard his call I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day.

To laugh, love, to work, to play.

Task left undone must stay that way.

I've found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My Life's been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch, Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your heart and share with me.

God wanted me now, He set me free.

You were a “Queen” and one of a kind!

They broke the mold when God made you.

We thank God above for blessing each of us with your love.

We thank you from being the sweet, dear woman you were.

Mom, your warmth and love kept us ever so strong.

There were lots of times, we know you willingly put our needs ahead of yours.

You took our kids and raised them as your own.

For the years we had you near, we will treasure and hold ever so dear.

You were truly a loving mother and wonderful friend.

We love you mother now and forever.

You will remain a part of us as you live on in our hearts and thoughts.

As we say our goodbyes, we have no doubt that as we know you, God knows you, too!

As a Wife To My Love Mary, It has been 15 years since I left you, such a very long time. The distance of time and experience has not altered our love. I've longed for our reunion and it is finally here.

I've loved you from the first moment, and now we will spend eternity together. You have given me a beautiful family, and a wonderful legacy we have left behind. As you walk through heaven's gates, we will join hands once again.

As a Grandmother

As a Great-Grandmother Great Granny, Is a special friend, Someone that we can depend.

To always cheer me with a song, To help me learn right from wrong.

So many memories that we shared, Our days filled with love and care.

You were there when we took our first steps, And went unsteadily across the floor.

You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided, Until our steps took us out the door...

You worried "Are they ok?“ Is there more you could have done?

As we walk the paths of our unknown You wonder "Where have my grandchildren gone?"

Where we are is where you have led us, With your special love you showed us a way, To believe in God, ourselves, and the decisions we make.

Taking on the challenge of life day-to-day.

You always watch for us Anxiously waiting if we were late, In winter by the window, In summer by the gate.

The long way home would seem more safe, Because you waited there.

Your thoughts were always full of us, You never did forget, And so we know in heaven You must be watching yet.

Waiting 'til we come home to you Anxious if we are late Watching from Heaven's window Leaning from Heaven's gate.

And where we go you can be sure, In spirit you shall never be alone.
