Wag N’ Wash Celebrates Seven Years of Serving Broomfield’s Furry Friends

Local Pet Shop Doubles Down on Care, Community, and Squeaky-clean Pups

At Wag N’ Wash Natural Pet Food & Grooming, pets aren’t just customers—they're family. And after seven years in business, owner Mike Schreiber says it’s been everything he dreamed of and more.

“Serving Broomfield’s pets and pet parents has been everything I hoped it would be when we chose to open our store here,” Schreiber said. “The community is beyond loyal to their animals. I'm extremely grateful that they chose me as their pet store.”

Tucked into the Broomfield shopping plaza off U.S. Highway 287, Wag N’ Wash has become a onestop shop for local pet lovers. Whether you’re stocking up on natural food and treats, looking for a new leash or toy, or getting your pup squeaky clean, the store has just about everything—plus a few surprises.

There’s a groom room. There’s a treat bar. And you can wash your own pet in one of their industrial-grade tubs — cats, pigs, and even a goat have taken the plunge over the years.

“The wash stations were really the heart of our original concept,” Schreiber said. “This isn’t just for dogs — this is for pets of all stripes.”

The self-wash area, complete with drying stations and all the supplies pet parents need, has been a customer favorite. The shop is working on a new loyalty program – the Muddy Paws program, which gives visitors their 4th wash free.

For those who’d rather leave the scrubbing to the pros, Wag N’ Wash also offers full-service grooming, with expert groomers who prioritize the health and wellness of every animal in their care.

If running errands isn’t on your schedule, Wag N’ Wash has you covered. Customers can now shop without leaving the comfort of home thanks to free 1-hour curbside pickup, same-day delivery, or the convenient Autoship Repeat Delivery Service. Create a user account online to manage your pet’s profile, receive personalized offers, and leave delivery instructions for added convenience every time you order.

“We want shopping here to be as easy and personal as it is in-store,” said Schreiber. “That means meeting people where they are — whether that’s at our tubs or at their doorstep.”

To keep up with demand, the store is expanding its inventory and grooming area.

Wag N’ Wash has also carved out a role as a community hub for pet health and fun. The shop hosts regular photo events with Santa, the Easter Bunny, and a Valentine’s Day kissing booth. On the more practical side, it provides stress-free, non-anesthesia dental cleanings with K-9 Smiles, and monthly veterinary clinics through VIP Petcare.

Schreiber’s journey to pet shop ownership didn’t follow a typical path. After a long career in finance and telecommunications—and a life-changing ski trip to Steamboat Springs in 1988—he decided to make Colorado home. His first dog, adopted in 1993, sparked a passion for pet nutrition and ultimately laid the foundation for Wag N’ Wash.

Today, Schreiber runs the store with his wife, Lisa, and their rescued Saint Bernard/Boxer mix, Finnegan—who has a reputation as the store’s unofficial treat shoplifter.

For Schreiber, it’s all about community. “We just want to make life better for pets and their people,” he said.
