Creative Broomfield Prepares for Inaugural PULSE Event at Flatirons Mall, March 31

By Allison Eichner

As Broomfield continues to grow, community leaders have continually asked what it means for our city to thrive. Creative Broomfield seeks to answer this question through their new quarterly PULSE Events. Designed to discuss the heartbeat of Broomfield creatives, PULSE is a space for people from all sectors of the community to come together. Each meeting will feature select speakers, a short performance, and an activity to foster relationships and share creative visions. A free to attend event, PULSE is for any community member with an interest in the arts.

Inthe past year, Creative Broomfield has held Creative Conversations: an opportunity for creative people to share their work and collaborate as a community. Now, PULSE is an environment for people from diverse fields, not just creatives, to collaborate. With the inclusion of businesses, government, non-profit organizations, and educators in the creative conversations, all sectors of our community can thrive. Arts and history manager for the City of Broomfield, Megan Gilby, explained, “A connected and collaborative creative community is a key element of Broomfield’s comprehensive approach to growing the creative economy to increase the overall vitality of Broomfield and quality of life for residents.” This cross-sector collaboration will allow for community leaders to find a common pulse among their goals for Broomfield.

The first PULSE Event will take place on Thursday, March 31, in Nordstrom Hall at Flatirons Crossing. The inaugural gathering will feature speakers from the location host, Flatirons Crossing. Expect to hear how the Flatirons team has “infused the arts and creative experiences into the mall experience, and are excited about partnering with creatives in their space.” Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance will perform at the event; in addition, their team will also share their creative story with attendees. From there, attendees will participate in an activity that mimics the Creative Conversations hosted last year. This will be a time for people to discover collective strengths, network, and collaborate.

PULSE is an event created for every corner of our town. The success of many existing organizations individually can not compare to when they come together. Creative Broomfield’s goal for this budding community is “to provide programs and opportunities that elevate our local creative resources, connect them together, and help build a strong community fabric. The ultimate goal is for this fabric to create a foundation for stability, sustainability, and innovation for the creative sector to share knowledge, resources, and ideas.” Megan also added, “We believe creativity plays a role in daily life, and by connecting those who are part of what many think of as the ‘traditional’ creative sector—like arts organizations and artists, with those who support, participate in or are creative in various sectors— we can build a creative network and creative economy that helps Broomfield connect, create, and thrive.”

PULSE is a quarterly event held by Creative Broomfield and hosted at rotating locations. The inaugural event will take place on Thursday, March 31, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m in Nordstrom Hall at Flatirons Crossing. The event is free to attend and includes lunch.
