The Broomfield Police Department Wants to Hear from You
By The City and County of Broomfield
Help shape the future of how the Broomfield Police Department serves your community! The Broomfield Police Department (BPD) is conducting an ongoing engagement effort to listen to the community in order to understand what the department is doing well, identify opportunities for improvement, and learn how the community wants to engage with the police.
The Broomfield Police Department is asking you to complete a survey about your impressions of the Broomfield Police before they embark on a series of community listening sessions in summer 2024. Residents and visitors of Broomfield can share their experiences, concerns, and impressions of the police directly with BPD.
What is a listening tour?
A listening tour is exactly what it sounds like: an opportunity for the community to speak and representatives of BPD to listen. The tour will consist of public, in-person events (listening sessions) across Broomfield where community members (like you!) can participate in activities and small group discussions to help improve policing in Broomfield.
“As we recognize the importance of collaborating with our community and the critical importance of being transparent and approachable, we also recognize the need for us to reach out to residents to better understand what you need and want from your police department,” said Broomfield Chief of Police Enea Hempelmann.
The goal of both the survey and listening tours is to provide the Broomfield Police Department with a better understanding of the community's experience as it relates to police interactions.
“Hearing from our community and those residents who are not often reached is a critical step in building and fostering future partnerships between the Broomfield Police Department and those we serve,” Chief Hempelmann continued. “Truly, your voice matters and for this reason we want to hear from you.”
The listening tour will occur throughout the summer of 2024. The BPD hopes to hear from a diverse set of voices across the Broomfield including residents of different neighborhoods, ethnicities, ages, income levels, and more. But public engagement has already begun!
Share your experiences, concerns, and impressions of the Broomfield Police by completing a brief survey by March 15. Survey responses will help guide conversations during the community listening tour in early 2024 and help determine future BPD engagement efforts.
