Broomfield Holiday HappeningsFor December
By the City and County of Broomfield
There is no place like Broomfield for the holidays! There are so many ways to enjoy the holiday season, both in celebration and in service. Start by taking a walk through Midway Park, fully dressed and sparkling with festive holiday lights, or enjoy one of the upcoming holiday events to get into the holiday spirit.

On December 3, bundle up and grab a hot cocoa to ring in the holiday season at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Starting at 6:00 p.m. at the George DiCiero City and County Building, you can enjoy caroling from local schools, a wagon ride with free cookies, and meet Santa!
04
Pick up the phone, it’s Santa calling! Again this year, children two to eight years old can receive a call from the Man in Red himself on December 4. Parents, remember to register for Talk to Santa by December 2!

Also on December 4, residents are invited to celebrate all winter has to offer at the Winter Celebration at the Broomfield Library. Guests of all ages can enjoy Celtic guitarist Jerry Barlow, family crafts, and gift book recommendations, as well as partake in the kick-off of Winter Library Adventures, the annual winter reading challenge for all ages.

On December 18, cozy up in your favorite pajamas and enjoy the holiday classic, the Polar Express, at the Broomfield Depot Museum. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served and a great time will be had by all! No registration required, just drop by; story times will be at 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.

Spend the last day of 2021, December 31, by watching the award-winning “poet of motion,” Peter Davison, bring together juggling, dance, physical theatre, music, and humor for a show unlike anything you’ve seen before at Happy Noon Year at the Broomfield Auditorium. Learn more about these special events, and others, at Broomfield.org/HolidayCheer.
This holiday season, you can also consider giving back by donating items or time to support your neighbors in need. Volunteers are needed for: the SnowPals program to provide snow management for neighbors who are unable to do so themselves; Meals on Wheels drivers to deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors; and to support holiday special events. View all volunteer opportunities with the City and County at Broomfield.org/Volunteer.
Another great way to give back is by purchasing a new gift for a child who would otherwise go without through the Precious Gift Toy Drive. Gifts can be dropped off in person or purchased from the Precious Child Amazon Wishlist. Collection drop-off bins are located at the Paul Derda Recreation Center, the Broomfield Community Center, the George DiCiero City and County Building, and Health and Human Services Building. Want to participate virtually? Order from the Precious Gift wish list on Amazon and have the toys shipped directly to a Precious Child. Drop off or order your gift by December 9 to have them arrive just in time for the holidays. Learn more at Broomfield.org/HolidayCheer.
