Letter from the Dean Dear class of 2022 You must pat yourself on the back for this remarkable achievement. I wish you all the success in the years to come and hope that you will take some fond memories from the four years at the dental school. The challenges that you faced until now have prepared you well for the challenges to come in the years to come, and I am positive there will be many. While the pandemic put additional stresses in your progression, you have triumphed and I am positive that you all have come out stronger. If I were to give you two pieces of advice it would be: first, to continue to learn and expand your horizons. We have helped you with foundational knowledge, but the learning process never ends. Within the span of your career you will see changes in the way dentistry is administered that we cannot even imagine today. Number two would be to protect our profession by always following the ethical principles of treatment. The principle I like to follow is “Do as much as you can for your patient but do as little as you can to your patient”. You are entering a profession that will give you the opportunity to serve others and greatly fulfil the needs of your family. Use these gifts and talents wisely and happiness will be the result for many decades.

Letter from your President Dear Class of 2022, Thank you so much for the honor of being your representative and Class President for the last two years. Through all the turmoil, COVID, and everything else that was thrown at us I hope that I was able to make your lives just a tad bit easier and I hope that I was a good representative for our class! It has been a long four years but we have all finally made it! In just a few short days we will walk across that stage and become dentists and finally accomplish what we have been dreaming for so long! I know that each of you will become such amazing members and leaders of the communities you choose to join. I may have been the representative for our class but every one of us will soon be leaders. Whether it is in a clinic or in residency each and every one of us will have to step up and become the person people look up to. I would offer some advice on being a good leader but honestly, I have learned so much from all of you that I know all of you will succeed in whatever you choose to do! I am so grateful to be a part of this class and I wish nothing but the best for every single one of you guys! Good luck class of 2022, even though I know you won’t need it!

From the desert…..

“Hiking through Utah’s national parks was a major highlight of dental school. We trekked through Zion’s majestic Narrows and climbed to the top of Angel’s Landing. We ventured through Bryce Canyon and Spooky Slots as the sun set upon us. We walked many miles through many terrains and got to witness some of the beauties of this earth together. Stargazing deep in the mountains, and sunsets on top of the hill. Many memories were made throughout this trip, and ‘the girls had a helluva time’”. -4th Year Sonora Zukerman

The Diversity Council is committed to promoting events and opportunities that will further the academic advancement and success of minority and underrepresented students while weaving and enhancing cultural and diversity acceptance in our student body and breaking down racial and ethnic stereotypes.

“Despite cold temperatures, icy road conditions in residential areas, and the pandemic, fifty children received free dental services. I heard from several faculty members and staff that the day was the best organized event ever.

Mission Trip to Peru

“This mission trip with the CMDA was an incredible life-changing experience! What a blessing it was to serve this community of people. We traveled on a boat for four days along a tributary of the Amazon to visit a different village each day and the service we were able to provide is indescribable! We had a dental team of 3 students, 3 providers, and a dental hygienist and we were able to extract almost 500 teeth in total! The people we served and prayed with were so grateful and treated us with nothing but respect; it was truly heart warming.”
