• The combined total balance of the Named Endowed Scholarship Program stands at more than $32 million.
• The disbursement from that principal represents approximately 46% of The Fund’s annual awards.

As we begin our next chapter beyond the Ouimet Fund’s first 75 years, I’m pleased to share several important updates from an exciting year of progress and growth. We hope you’ve enjoyed seeing these developments in our recent publications, and we encourage you to visit our website, Annual Impact Report, or monthly emails for additional details.
This year marked our fourth consecutive record in scholarship applications, reflecting rising educational costs and growing financial need. We also expanded eligibility to include students pursuing post-secondary trade programs, a meaningful evolution shaped by feedback from donors and young people preparing for careers in today’s changing economy. In addition, we launched enhanced recognition and engagement opportunities through our Leadership Giving Program, creating new ways for annual supporters to connect with our Scholars and one another.
Thanks to your generosity and the performance of our investment team, the Ouimet Fund now manages more than 200 endowed funds totaling over $32 million. Our endowment provided 46% of total annual scholarship support this year, offering long-term stability and lasting impact. In 2025, 535 Ouimet Scholars received just over $3.5 million in need-based awards, both of which are new records. As a proud Ouimet Alumnus, I extend heartfelt gratitude on behalf of all past, current, and future Scholars whose lives have been transformed by your commitment.
If you have not done so recently, I hope you will consider a sustaining gift to your endowment to preserve, or even increase, your annual impact. For those interested, there is also a clear pathway to supporting multiple Scholars each year.
My family and I find great meaning in being part of this community, and I hope the experience is equally rewarding for you. If you know someone who may wish to learn more, we are happy to provide additional copies of this brochure.
On behalf of the Ouimet Fund’s Board of Directors, Trustees, Alumni, our staff, and most importantly, this year’s Ouimet Scholars, thank you!
All the best,
Jeffrey R. Holland Ouimet Alumnus Volunteer Development Committee Chair

Jack was a caddie growing up on a golf course, though Juli didn’t pick up a club until the age of 15 while working at Pasatiempo Golf Club. As Juli’s career flourished, her parents made tremendous sacrifices, driving her to tournaments and even caddying for her in the California State Amateur and as an amateur in the Bing Crosby, all while she was an All-American at San Jose State. 1) Who should endow a scholarship?
The ideal supporter is an individual or family who has a deep affinity for golf, believes in the transformative power of education through a college degree or a trade school, and would like to be permanently associated with the Ouimet Fund. Family members, for instance, may together create an award in the name of their mom or dad. Other potential endowment creators include companies or organizations close to golf or have an educational focus in their philanthropic priorities. Often times, business people are honored when they retire through a named endowed scholarship.
2) How can I ensure that my philanthropic goals are realized?
The Ouimet Fund’s Named Endowed Scholarship Program allows donors to personalize a scholarship by defining preferences that matter most to them. Current endowed awards support Ouimet Scholars who may be pursuing a specific field of study, come from a certain club or region, or reflect other priorities such as supporting female or inner-city Scholars. Donors may set clear preferences or choose broader criteria.
3) How can I make my contribution?
Ouimet named endowed scholarships can be fully funded up front or paid over a period of up to five years. Funding options include:
• Cash Donations
• Gifts From Appreciated Stock: Donors may wish to take advantage of the tax savings by making a gift of appreciated stock that The Fund would then sell to establish the award. Consult your tax advisor for more information.
• Memorial Donations: People frequently designate the Ouimet Fund for memorial gifts when a loved one passes away. Occasionally, these donations have been significant, and people have “rolled” them into named endowed scholarships by making additional contributions.
• Memorial Tournaments: The individual or donating group can organize a memorial tournament, and the proceeds could be used to fund a permanently named endowed scholarship.
• From a Fundraising Effort: Several organizations have funded endowed awards by soliciting their constituents to make a tax-deductible donation toward the named endowed scholarship.
4) Can I gift money from my IRA and receive a charitable tax deduction?
The IRA qualified charitable distribution (QCD) has been permanently extended; however, we recommend consulting your tax advisor regarding its current application. This provision allows individuals aged 70½ and older to make direct transfers of up to $108,000 (for the 2025 tax year) per year to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations, such as the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund, without counting the transfer as taxable income. These transfers also satisfy the required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. To qualify, funds must be transferred directly from your IRA to the Ouimet Fund. If your retirement assets are in a 401(k), 403(b), or similar plan, you must first roll them into an IRA before initiating a direct transfer to the Ouimet Fund.
5) What will I receive for my contribution?
Most importantly, you’ll experience the satisfaction of helping young people achieve their educational dreams. Each year, you’ll receive information about the student(s) supported by your scholarship, along with key financial updates on both your fund and the Ouimet Fund overall. As a token of our gratitude, you’ll also receive special invitations to events such as the Investing in Lifetimes reception, along with a “Francis and Eddie” engraved bag tag and framed plaque. All Named Endowed Scholarships are recognized annually in this publication, the Annual Impact Report, and on the Ouimet Fund website.
The minimum donation required to establish a named endowed scholarship is $50,000. Named endowed scholarship creators make ongoing donations to increase the impact of their awards. At the bottom of the next page, you can see the options for larger awards or more recipients as your principal increases.
A donor may choose to fund their initial endowment pledge over a period of one to five years.
The donation to fund a scholarship and any additional contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
The Ouimet Fund has been a non-profit, tax-exempt organization in good standing since 1949. Tax ID #04-2234126.
The Fund’s endowed scholarship portfolio is managed by a professional financial services company and is overseen by a volunteer Investment Committee and is managed in accordance with an Investment Policy Statement.
The Ouimet Fund has an independent audit each year by a firm specializing in non-profit organizations and private schools. This can be found on our web page, www.ouimet.org.
The standard annual amount of the endowment paid toward scholarships is 5% of the endowment principal at fiscal year end. The endowed award is made as part of, and in addition to, the regular Ouimet Scholarship awarded. Endowments of greater size can be set up to provide a scholarship to more than one recipient per year or to provide a larger amount to one recipient. As endowments increase through sustaining contributions, donors are given the option to distribute an amount in excess of 5%.
The Ouimet Fund draws 1% of the principal each year from each endowed fund and transfers that amount to the annual operating budget. This helps offset the increasing costs associated with operating and managing the endowed scholarship program and increases our annual award levels.
Upon establishing a new named endowed scholarship, the Ouimet Fund requires a standard agreement similar to endowments held by schools and colleges. The agreement protects the donor, the student recipient and the Ouimet Fund. The agreement stipulates any special preferences requested by the donor and agreed upon by the Ouimet Fund.
The permanently named endowed scholarship provides the donor with an excellent return for their investment. As the award is made yearly, there is an annual recognition of the donor and honoree.
The named endowed scholarship recipients are current Ouimet Scholars who demonstrate financial need.
The Ouimet Fund will notify the individual recipients of each award, and give them an overview of who established the award, including some information on the honoree.
The Ouimet Fund’s staff reviews all Scholars annually. The Executive Director will inform the donors of selections for each award in mid-December, following the notice to students.
Applicants must have completed at least two years “service to golf” as caddies, golf operations, or superintendent staff at a Massachusetts golf course. The awards are “need-based” and assist with tuition at accredited post-secondary institutions and post-secondary trade schools.
What if no Scholar meets the specified qualifications?
The Ouimet Fund seeks to have each named endowed scholarship help a student with need and if the restrictions are too narrow to identify a Scholar, a student who does not fit the preferred restrictions will be selected.
If an award is scheduled to be paid over multiple years, until the full financial obligation has been met, a token award will be given.
The Ouimet Fund lists each award in its Annual Impact Report and gives further description in this publication. Photos of the honoree(s) and scholarship recipient(s) are published in the Named Endowed Scholarship Awards brochure. Making use of its social media channels, The Fund publicizes and recognizes recipients through social media posts, as well as highlighting the awards and recipients on our website.
As your fund balance grows through market gains and additional gifts, your named scholarship can fund a larger award or can be split between multiple Scholars. While your fund balance may grow beyond the amounts shown below, this chart offers an example of how this option would work.

Having a will is essential, regardless of age or health, as it ensures your wishes are respected and your loved ones are cared for. It provides peace of mind, knowing that your assets will be distributed as intended and your responsibilities managed according to your desires.
The Ouimet Fund is deeply grateful to those who have made a future commitment through an estate gift by joining the Eddie Lowery Planned Giving Program. Their generosity helps secure a lasting impact on future generations of Scholars.

Planned (or bequest) gifts naming the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund as a beneficiary through a will, trust agreement, life insurance policy, or other deferred gift, such as a 401(k), provide a vital resource for our scholarship aid and are accessible to anyone regardless of their age or current income.
Naming the Ouimet Fund as a beneficiary from your estate is easy, and we can provide guidance to help. Please contact Kellie Costa at kelliec@ouimet.org for more information.
