Letter from the Editor
When I left my childhood home for the first time, I felt an uncontrollable homesickness - a sinking feeling of “I do not know this place, please let me go back.” Although I was only an hour and a half away, that house held years of memories. Of waking up in the morning to the smell of incense and rice. Of harvesting bitter melon from the garden in the backyard. Of a time when life was “easier,” masked by the guise of nostalgia.
At OU, however, I’ve been able to redefine my own meaning of “home.” “Home” is not solely defined by where we live, but it is where we develop our roots. And it is the memories of the places that I have called “home” that I will carry with me everywhere I go. After all, if we do not hold onto these memories, who else will?
In this issue, we want to focus on the places that we call “home” and how they have shaped our own lives. The creation of this publication has not been an easy journey, but I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has been involved in this process. It has been an honor to have been able to nurture this creative platform for our community, and I look forward to continuing to do so. But most importantly, I would like to thank you all for listening to what stories we have to tell.
Sincerely,
