What’s up! Come get to know me! Thanks for stopping by, I’m Oswego Newman, a graphic designer currently based in the DC and Maryland area. My original love for the arts comes from my interest in video games and fashion that I grew to love as I got older. Whilst going to college, I discovered that graphic design was the perfect way for me to express my creativity within different mediums of my career. I specialize in print based design; I’m continuously bettering my skills in Adobe Creative Suite as well as web design based tools such as WordPress and Squarespace.

Slammed Slushies Branding • Packaging • Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop Slammed Slushies blends creativity and craftsmanship to deliver a frosty, flavorful escape in every sip. Proper marketing for a brand’s success will always originate from a brand’s identity. Understanding how a brand wants to portray itself is key to further developing a marketing strategy and all supportive product collateral. Slammed Slushies allows me to take on that challenge by developing a energetic, adult beverage drink company targeted specifically to the nightlife youth. This fictious company would have mobile locations, permanent storefronts, and is originally based in DC. Colorful collateral and bold branding is cohesive amongst products used to reinforce the company’s purpose while properly utilizing the brand standards.

Screen Printing For Dummies Infographic Print • Creative Process • Adobe Illustrator Creating a screenprinting infographic simplifies the process, making it easy to learn and create high-quality prints with confidence. Most people have came across the idea of becoming an entrepreneur and starting their own business. When diving into the world of fashion through screen printing, it’s essential to know the steps that are necessary to create a crisp design for your specific clothing piece. The biggest challenges for this project was determining how to describe the steps evenly with type and illustration. My take on the challenge would be to personify the screen and allow it to assist the viewer visually as they go along with the steps that are provided. Utilizing influence of the ‘For Dummies’ book series, keeping a similar color scheme, art style, and humorous flow of information was important to keep consistent.

Maryland Fire Annual Report Editorial Print • Redesign • Adobe Illustrator & InDesign Redesigning University of Maryland’s Fire & Rescue annual report not only engages readers but also enhances understanding and appreciation of the vital work performed by our heroes. Fire departments are essential to ensure the safety for communities across America. By being located near the University of Maryland, MFRI has a large responsibility to keep a strong account of their events, data, and their progress over the year. In this redesign, keeping branding and overall purpose cohesive is important to push their mission. Through adding and taking away pages, past information is utilized and altered to keep data consistent while still being visually pleasing. Resulting in 24 pages, the biggest challenges with this report were finding the balance of professional information within an imposing layout as well as creating the best way to display the data provided.

Glaze DOOM Logo Print • Logo Design • Adobe Photoshop Maryland based streetwear brand Glaze looked to have their logo designed to resemble the 1993 cult classic video game: DOOM. Streetwear brands have sanctioned themselves as strong influences within the world of fashion over the past 5-10 years. Glaze curates themselves around designing comfort clothing pieces based upon various forms of music, gaming, art styles, and other pop-culture references. The main challenge of this logo design was sourcing the right royalty free textures that would make the Glaze logo look true to it’s original reference. Through a variety of trial and error with light sourcing, color sampling, and 3D effects, a successful result of the redesign was reached. Glaze utilized the final variation without the background on t-shirts and trucker hats on their most recent release.

Fraiche (Fray • sh) Branding • Package Design • Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
Fraiche curates it’s branding and advertisement with a captivating blend of elegance and modernity within it’s beauty products. Finding the right beauty products that pair with your body and personality is a difficult task for some people. Fraiche is a fictitious brand whose goal is to provide consistent quality products that fit the body care lifestyle for most people. In a sea of cosmetics at your local store, package design is essential in standing out to the consumer as their next go to brand. Taking a more feminine approach, this project utilized a youthful alternating logo and color scheme in order to create packaging and advertisements that consumer can resonate with.
Pictured here is the flower collection provided by Fraiche. Altogether including three shower gels, hair oils, and perfume variations. Color scheme and logo alternates depending on the product whilst keeping the theme of the brand consistent.
The products are shown in three flower blossom styles for this collection. They are then followed up by the full spread of their packaging design.

MacDowell Pottery Branding • Adobe InDesign & Photoshop • Photography Through strategic re-branding, MacDowell Pottery not only revitalizes its small business but also forges a compelling and lasting connection with customers, driving growth and success. As time goes on, many brands update their branding to better market themselves to consumers. This updated look cohesively transfers through logos, products, and media outlets. MacDowell Pottery is a local Rhode Island based small business that creates custom hand-crafted pottery products. The ultimate goal for this rebrand was to establish a new logo, business card, pottery slip inserts, product photography of various ready made products, and social media layouts that tell the story of true craftsmanship with a strong connection to local nature. Meeting with the client weekly ensured clear communication of goals and allowed for regular updates on the projects progress.

Keeping the same font as the original logo, the redesign of the logo took a more direct naming approach. These pottery inserts were made to be used on small slips of paper that would be placed into the piece that correlates with it’s description.
Developing a social media layout for Instagram and Facebook was necessary in order to reach clientele.
Along with product shots, correlating posts of local nature scenes and craftsmanship images are used to emphasize the overall aesthetic of the brand. With Instagram particularly, a row layout of a pottery piece, followed by an influencing image, and finished by another pottery piece photo, would be a continuous scrolling theme through out the page’s entirety.
Pictured here are MacDowell Pottery’s most sold items. Having clean photo shots of these items as well as others were needed to begin her social media posts and website listings.

Hungry Hog Diner Branding • Editorial • Adobe Illustrator & InDesign Developing cohesive branding for Hungry Hog Diner ensures a memorable dining experience, from the first glance to the last bite, leaving a lasting impression on food enthusiasts. Diner style restaurants have always been a staple when it comes to American food. A classic burger and fries from a mom and pop dine-in only establishment is something we’ve all enjoyed at some point in time. Accompanied by the food are the neon signs, cushioned seats, and slightly worn laminated menus. Hungry Hog Diner brings that classic Americana feel through branding and menu product design. While working with a team of culinary students to bring to life the aesthetic of this mid-western diner, weekly meetings on project progress ensured advertising, logo design, and visual coding for menus and table tops were cohesive.

Brown Acceptance Package Package Design • Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, & Photoshop The craftsmanship of Brown University’s acceptance package for football showcases dedication to achievement and education, mirroring the commitment expected from their student-athletes. “Congratulations, you’ve been accepted” is a phrase we’ve all appreciated or sought after when applying to a college or university. Along with an acceptance paper, many colleges provide accompanying merchandise, campus layout info, and other swag as incentives for applying. When creating this fictitious acceptance package for Brown University, I thought from the perspective of a student accepted with a football scholarship. Included in the box is necessary merchandise, an acceptance letter and advisor contact, and branding related to the football team.
After sliding open your acceptance package, you’re greeted with a variety of Brown branded amenities. Most importantly of which would be your acceptance folder pictured here.
In this folder would contain your personalized acceptance letter, essential college item checklist, parent bumper sticker, football themed planner, and the business card of your academic advisor.

Skateboard Magazine Excerpt Editorial • Photography • Adobe Illustrator & InDesign Creating an editorial piece based on establishing local skate parks helps bring community awareness to your interest as well as providing the steps needed to be complete in order for it to come to fruition. Rhode Island is home to a well connected skateboarding community. With parks stretching from Cranston all the way to Pawtucket, it’s easy to collect supportive images to use for the excerpt. This project was influenced by magazine spreads that were based on skateboarding and the underlying challenge of building a skate park. In order to put an emphasis on building locally, photography taken from university’s own local skate park, Trinity Mews Skate, were used. Supporting vectors were also made in order to assist in the visual description within one of the layouts.
