Owolade In Trouble Over 2014 Tribunal Legal Services Debt •Law Firm Claims N20m Debt In Court

HE law firm engaged by the Accord Party (AP) gubernatorial candidate in the August 14, 2014 election in the State of Osun, Mr Niyi Owolade, to prosecute his petition at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal after the election, has dragged Owolade before an Osogbo High Court for refusing to pay for their legal services.

The tribunal, in 2014, had granted Owolade’s

request on January 8, 2015 to withdraw his petition before the tribunal and upheld the election of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as the dulyelected governor in the said election.

had sued him for allegedly refusing to pay their professional fees after the legal battle.

It is regrettable that the state government under Governor Aregbesola, despite its huge and unprecedented investment in LAUTECH, ranging from infrastructural development and provision of equipment among others, has to resort to demotion of staff recruited in 2012, as a result of the paucity of funds from level CONHESS 08- 07 to CONHESS 3-1, as applicable.

Though, the government through the report

of various committees hinged the decision on the claim that all the demoted staff were upgraded illegally during the tenure of the former Chief Medical Director, Professor Olufemi Fadiora.

Regardless of its good intention, the danger is that the state government

may continue funding LAUTECH to the benefit of Oyo State and to the detriment of the State of Osun as being witnessed presently.

It is on record that, if any state should cry wolf over the joint ownership of LAUTECH, it should be Osun, considering the sacrifice and concession of Governor Aregbesola to sustain the joint owner-

ship of the university and the teaching hospitals.

For instance, all the current demotion of staff in the hospital never affected those employed in Ogbomoso at the same period, which has given them advantage over Osun.

In a few years from now,

if the joint ownership still continues, Oyo indigenes will be heading most of the departments as senior officers, while Osun indigenes employed at the same period will be crawling in the services.

When the letters were given out, only Osun indigenes collected theirs, which affected their morale and commitment to work. They were all em-

ployed under the same rules and the same circumstances.

The question is, why should the demotion exercise affect Osun indigenes alone? This is a critical aspect that the state government, Osun political leaders and traditional rulers must take serious and look into. We understand the financial condition of the state that necessitated the action, but joint ownership should be joint pains, joint benefits and rewards.

If Osun will genuinely protect Osun interest in LAUTECH ownership, it will be in the best interest of the state to reverse the demotion. The modulated salary method of the government could be applied to save the state from backwardness in LAUTECH ownership in the foreseeable future.

In this interview, the lawmaker who is currently the spokesman of Integrity Group that is pressing for the investigation of the ongoing controversy over the padding of the 2016 budget explained the reason for the stance of the association. He insisted that the group would not backpedal on its position that for peace to reign in the chamber, the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, his Deputy, Yusuf Lasun, Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, ousted Chairman of Appropriation, Abdulmumuni Jibrin and all the principal officers must be investigated.

What is the Integrity Group, what is it out to achieve?

HE Integrity Group emerged as a result of the existence of two other groups we have so far in the National Assembly-the group led by the former chairman of the House Appropriation Commit-tee, Abdulmumin Jibrin and the recent one that calls itself Trans-parency Group. As a result of these groups, almost 36 of us representing each state decided to come together to form the In-tegrity Group.

This is a well established group formed in three days. We have 106 members that have so far registered and by our projec-tions, in the next one week, the membership will increase to more than 200. The group has a website created for members to interact with one another and we have specific contacts when we want to deliberate.

The essence of this group is as a result of what was disclosed by Jibrin on the issue of padding of the 2016 budget. After his dis-closure, we heard the response of the House leadership through the spokesman, Abdulrazak Namdas. Recently, we also heard the response of the Transparency Group on the allegations against the principal officers and the padding. We created this group to serve as a platform to express our-selves on these issues.

There are also other issues beyond these in the 8th National Assembly.

The group was formed last Wednes-day and we had our first meeting and the consultative meeting on that day.

What is the position of the group on the padding and the allegations against four princi-pal officers of the House?

The actual position of this group on the issue of padding of the budget is that even though Jibrin had disclosed that the four principal officers had hands in the padding, and the Transpar-ency Group also accused the four principal officers, the main mission of the Integrity Group is to make a justification that if we are to have transparency and accountability on the issue of padding, we should not limit it to only four officers. We have 10 principal officers in the House of Reps, and we know that all the principal officers are victims of circumstances on the issue of padding the budget. So, there is no justification to limit the alle-gation to only four people. That is why we want to involve our-selves to make a clarification.

All the 10 principal officers of the House must account for their deeds and must come and justify what they are alleged to have done in the padding, in-cluding the House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila. He is also a prin-cipal officer, so there is no objec-tion in this matter. If it comes to matter of truth, nobody should be exempted, everybody must account for his deeds. So, the

Are you saying all the 10 principal officers are involved?

Really, all of them are in-volved, so they must all come to defend themselves. Besides, our group will not operate like the others, what we have decided to do is to respect law and order, we have a standing rule which guides the way we operate, so we will follow due process. Due process in the sense that when we come back from recess, we are going to present a motion which has to be deliberated upon based on the facts we have so far on the issue of padding. From there, we are ready to follow up this matter even if it means go-ing to court.

Some Nigerians are won-dering why this entire crisis just after Abdulmumin’s re-moval as chairman of the Ap-propriation Committee. How do you react to that?

Really, as we all know, all of us swore to serve our people. So, as a matter of fact, what Abdul-mumin is doing is not wrong, even though some are looking at it that he is doing it because he was removed as chairman. Yes, some people may look at it that way, but if you look at it very well, you would realise that what was operating in the National As-sembly is just jungle justice. We were elected on equal status, but someone may have the privilege of appropriating up to N3 or N4 billion to his constituency for his people to benefit, but someone else would have only N40million to N50 million; there is no justi-fication for this.

That’s why even before Abdulmumin disclosed all these,

there were serious alle-gations on the matter; it was not disclosed openly until when he was removed. But as I have said, there were several meetings on the grievances on the 2016 ap-propriation, so it came to a time that God helped other members that did not have that privilege to have certain amounts appropri-ated to their constituencies. That Abdulmumin just raised this matter, that I tell you, all the ag-grieved members of the National Assembly have interest in this matter and we are going to follow it up to a logical conclusion.

RE you saying Abdulmunin just revealed a routine tamper-ing with the budget which had been going on before now?

As a matter of fact, every member was benefitting from the budget, but the way it was operated this year is entirely dif-ferent from the way it used to be. What was normally done is that each member had some certain amount to establish certain proj-ects in his or her constituency for the benefit of the people, to see the essence and impact of their representation at the National Assembly. There is a sharing formula depending on state and constituency. But this issue of padding that emerged this year is very unfortunate, and it is a dis-grace to the whole institution as far as the Integrity Group is con-cerned.

How do you relate this cri-sis to the present administra-tion’s anticorruption posture?

It justifies the anti-corruption stand of the president because it is no longer business as usual. This is a government of integrity and people are looking at how it can deliver, but it is not only the executive people are

looking at, they are also looking at the legis-lature. That is why some people who are conscious of this decided to do things that are right when others thought it was a time they could play as usual, but it is very unfortunate. This is be-cause any member that comes to the National Assembly should come with a vision, since we were elected to come and deliver change by providing the needs of our people. As a matter of fact, I want to tell you that this thing has happened, and as far as our group is concerned, we are going to follow it to see that justice is done.

Is it not possible that mem-bers of the Integrity Group are taking this action because they did not benefit?

It is not an issue of whether or not they benefitted, we are look-ing at the institution, and there is no justification to heap the al-legations on only four principal officials. So, we are saying, what about the remaining six who we all know that if well investigated will be linked to the matter? All the 10 members must be inves-tigated and if found guilty, must face the law.

What do you think is the likely effect of this crisis on the political stability of the country and the 8th National Assembly?

HIS is the tradition of democ-racy, and we always expect such things to happen in a democracy because everyone has a right to express his or her views. What is happening is not very different from what happened in the 7th assembly. Each comes with a dif-ferent concept. If you can recall, there was crisis in the 7th assem-bly over so many issues.

You spoke about other is-sues your group is concerned about which you intend to iron out soon, can you briefly touch on that?

There is this issue of mem-bers’ incentives, it is very un-fortunate that members receive their monthly remunerations almost 60 days behind schedule and we have evidence that the National Assembly normally gets its funds from the federal govern-ment at the right time, so what’s causing the delay? It’s also part of our mission but we just want to start with this one thing and I tell you, as a mature group, we don’t want to start beating about the bush or going up and down, no, we want to follow due process by starting this issue of padding when we return from recess, and even if this matter needs to go to court, we are ready to follow it.

Have you as a group tried to find out from the House leader-ship why your remunerations are being delayed?

We are talking about padding now, but subsequently, the issue of remuneration of members will come up. It will be the next step the Integrity Group will come up with to ensure that our members receive their salaries at the right time.

T’s official: Microsoft has bought Nokia’s phone and services division for £3.2 billion, taking on the development of its Windows Phone series and giving the company a stronger foothold in the fight against Google and Apple in the mobile marketplace.

While Nokia’s star may have waned in recent years (though the latest batch of Lumias have made at least a few sit up and take notice again), this is a company responsible for a galaxy of classic handsets.

So we’ve looked back and picked the devices, past and present, gave Nokia the power and momentum that saw it manage to stagger on through some tricky times, and expertise that Microsoft couldn’t resist getting its hands on.

1. Nokia 3310 Cast your mind back to late 2000: Bush and Gore were battling for the keys to the White House, and Nokia replaced its hugely successful 3210 with the 3310, which went on to scale even greater heights.

Not everyone had a mobile phone in the early 2000s, but if you did, chances were it was a 3310 or its immediate predecessor.

It made Snake II the most popular game of the age, came in a variety of colours and all-encompassing cases, let you customise the ringtone and even let you send texts above the 160-character limit.

It was one of the first phones to match the blueprint for any successful handset: powerful, versatile, and a pleasure to use.

2. Nokia N95 Get into a conversation with anyone

Windows Phone-powered Lumia 800 — but it provided evidence that the company could still innovate and provide fresh ideas of its own given half a chance.

HE MeeGo mobile OS appeared just as Nokia switched focus to Windows Phone and actually had a lot going for it (including intelligent multi-tasking, a really slick UI, decent Web browsing and a combined notifications system), and it was all wrapped in a stylish-looking chassis that gave a few nods to where Nokia would be heading next (from the brightly coloured casing to the high-spec Carl Zeiss integrated camera).

We doubt Microsoft is going to ever want to fragment its mobile phones operations at all, but at least is shows that Nokia knew how to make a decent OS, and that’s going to be gold dust when it looks to polish Windows Phone.

5. Nokia Lumia 925 Back to the present day, and while Nokia has been caught out by the explosion of iOS and Android devices, the Lumia range — and the Nokia Lumia 925 in particular — shows clear signs that Nokia is ready to fight back.

Impressive build quality, a great camera and a top-notch suite of integrated apps (particularly for managing your contacts and social media accounts) makes it the best Nokia phone of the moment.

The only piece of the puzzle missing is third-party app support, and if Microsoft can solve that problem, then hardware like the Lumia 925 and its successors should give it more than half a chance of making Windows Phone a mainstream mobile operating system.

3. Nokia 1110 The Nokia 1110 remains the company’s best-selling phone of all time. In fact, at 250 million units shifted, it’s the best-selling handset in history (unless you want to lump all the editions of the iPhone together), so keep that in mind for your next pub quiz trip.

Like most of the classic Nokias, it was user-friendly and simple to operate, and it helped the company expand worldwide into developing countries that it previously hadn’t touched.

You didn’t get much besides the basic functions with the 1110, and it ran out of juice after five hours or so, but it remains one of Nokia’s most important devices in terms of spreading the company’s influence and getting its name recognised across the globe.

Budget Padding: Obasanjo Vs Lawmakers, Who Is Honourable?

S controversies, accusation and counteraccusations continue to loom over padded budget, former President Olusegun Obasanjo had once again descended on lawmakers. Gift Sunday takes a look at the controversial budget saga.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is at it again, this time, the 2016 budget described as the most controversial and incidentally, the first to be presented by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by President Muhammadu Buhari gave him the opportunity to swoop on the federal lawmakers. Since the budget was presented to the National Assembly, controversy has dogged it and this development gave room for the former President to descend hard on the legislature, describing the hallowed chamber as a cesspool of corruption.

On several occasions, Obasanjo had described the National Assembly as the den of robbers. As far back as 2012, the former President had at a public function declared that the two chambers of the federal legislature were full of “rogues and robbers.” As if that was not enough, January this year, he wrote the National Assembly accusing the lawmakers of greed, impunity and corruption, and failing to show fiscal prudence in view of the present economic situation in the country. On Monday, after a closed-door meeting with President Buhari at the Villa, Obasanjo, when cornered by journalists, emphasised his earlier position, insisting that it was important for the President not to allow the lawmakers get away with corruption.

Obasanjo may have, however, been vindicated going by the present allegations rocking the lower chamber of the National Assembly, where can of worms are being opened by the very person, who should know better that the 2016 budget was padded by the leadership of the House, headed by Speaker Yakubu Dogara, to the tune of several billions of naira for personal aggrandisement. The position of Obasanjo, has, however been criticised with the lawmakers threatening brimstone and fire.

Some of the lawmakers have, however, lambasted the former President, insisting that he should apologise for saying they are thieves and rogues.

standing to describe them as rogues and thieves, alleging that the former President was the author of corruption in the sense that during his period as President, he induced some of the lawmakers with several millions of naira to subvert the Constitution to suit his sinister purpose. While the Chairman, Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism, Senator Mathew Urhoghide, in his reaction to Obasanjo’s accusation distanced himself from the allegation and said that the former President should tender unreserved apology for making such sweeping statement, Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, dared Obasanjo to prove any single act of corruption against him. Na’Allah, in a statement reminded Obasanjo that he rejected his, “N50 million inducement to subvert the Constitution and provide a constitutional framework for the third term ambition of the ex- President.”

HE lawmaker, who said he was ready to vacate his office if any act of wrongdoing is found against him, described Obasanjo’s statement as reckless and terrifying, noting that, “the implication of the statement is to say that the entire over 170 million Nigerians have not elected a single person with integrity among the 469 members of the National Assembly.” The mindset and allegation against the lawmakers by Obasanjo was not done in isolation, as the lawmakers, we are the ones who provided the firewood in which the former President is using to set the fire of allegations. The accusations and counter-

accusations among the leadership of the House of Representatives on how the 2016 budget was padded, provided a fertile ground for the former President to launch into their warehouse of dirty dealings.

From day one, the 2016 budget was enmeshed with controversy.

It has been a subject of debate among the political watchers and analysts. The budget, which allegedly disappeared into thin air shortly after President Buhari submitted it before the joint session of National Assembly, later resurfaced with different tales from the upper and lower chambers. However, seven months into the 2016, a different controversial chapter has been opened on the annual working document of the Federal Government, this time around, the sacked Chairman of House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumini Jibrin, has opened a can of worm and like a canary, he has revealed the tune of music used to pad the budget, where several billions of naira were cornered by the lawmakers through constituency projects into their pockets. While the fire of controversy raged, the lawmakers have been heaping blames on each other.

Jibrin had specifically pointed accusing finger at the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Lasun, House Whip, Alhassan Doguwa and Minority Leader, Leo Ogor, as the quartet that should be held responsible for whatever padding that happened to the budget. Jibrin, who exonerated other members of the House from the padding controversy, noted that during the course of looking into the budget, the leaders of the House led by Dogara took the secretariat

from him to a secret location, where all manners of insertions were done to the budget.

“During the budget period, when they discovered that I was not the kind of a person they could use to perpetrate their illegality, Mr Speaker and the three other principal officers took away the entire Appropriation Committee secretariat to a secret location, where all sorts of insertions were made into the budget. “Again, the secretariat was taken away from me on Speaker Dogara’s instruction for the second time to a location I don’t know and all sort of insertions into the budgets were made and returned to me for signature. I said over my dead body!

T was a massive crisis behind the scene until the early morning of the Friday that Mr President assented the budget.

“When the budget harmonization committee headed by Deputy Speaker Yusuf Lasun gave out 80% concession across board to the executive demands during the harmonization negotiation, it was agreed that the remaining 20% should go to the entire NASS. The Deputy Speaker excused himself that he wanted to go and consult with Mr Speaker. “He came back after few hours and in an unprecedented display of greed, he presented to me a hand written note, distributing the remaining 20% to only principal officers. 70% of the 20% was reserved for Mr Speaker and himself, while the remaining 30% of the 20% goes to other principal officers.

Lack Of Promoters Hinders Islamic Singers In Osun - Rodiat Adeoti Azakira Rodiat Adeoti, popularly known as ‘Fimilokanbale’ is one of the Islamic Singers based in the State of Osun . In a chat with our Senior Reporter, KAZEEM MOHAMMED, she spoke on how she venture into Islamic music, the challenges and her dream for the future. Excerpts:

O

SDF: Tell us about your background and how you ventured into music?

RODIAT: I hail from Ilorin, but married to an Osogbo indigene. I attended both my primary and secondary schools in Kano and later attended the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, for my tertiary education.

I have started singing from my tender age, when we were in Arabic School in Kano. My elder sister used to lead other members of the Arabic School band, but it all started one day when she was not available and I was asked to lead. From there, my talent was discovered, but as at that time, I just saw it as a mere fun because I was so young. Later, my spiritual father, Sheu Zakariyah, prophesized that it has been revealed to him that Islamic music would be my way and I will be famous in it. There was a day a member of our Islamic association was holding marriage ceremony and I was given opportunity to sing for few minutes, but after my performance, people appreciated me so much, and they said I should be encouraged, but my mother was insisting that I must go to school.

Then I was in JSS 1.

Also in 1995, we had a ‘Zikri competition’ in Kano, and one of the guests, who came from Lagos saw my performance and said he would be taken me to Lagos to facilitate the promotion of my talent, but my mother insisted that she was not interested because I must go to school. Unfotunatety for me, that my Spiritual father, who had seen that talent in me and making efforts to build it, died in 1996 and since then I no longer sawit as a serious thing, except to just sing for few minutes, wherever I have the opportunity.

In 1999, when we relocated to Ilorin from Kano, which was the same year I got adminission into Kwara Polytechnic, I had seen many Islamic singers reigning and I also became interested, but there was no one to assist. As interested as I was, I did not want anything to disturb my education in line with my mother’s wish. I was only singing in the house, at weddings whenever I was given the opportunity to perform for few minutes, but I was not singing fully, because I was still a student.

After my graduation in 2007, which was the same year I got married, I told my husband that I was interested in singing because he knew my talent too for we have been together for long, but there was no one to promote me. Then, my husband suggested that we should produce a record, but despite the efforts we made, we could not succeed, not until 2012 that we released an album, titled,

‘Ileri Olohun’.

Ever since then, I have entered fully into Islamic singing and while I am doing this, I was still into some other things as means of livelihood.

Specifically, I’m also into ventures like what people call Alaga Iduro or Alaga Ijoko during wedding engagements.

OSDF: How many records have you produced till date?

RODIAT: I have produced two albums. The first was ‘Ileri Olohun’ in 2012 and the one I recently produced is ‘Fimilokanbale’ in 2016. Presently, I am also working on a joint record with some other Islamic star artists to be titled: ‘Idamu Omo Orukan’ and very soon it will be out.

OSDF: How acceptable are these records?

RODIAT: I have seen and heard people appreciating me for the records, but the major challenge we face in this part of the world as Islamic singers, I mean in the State of Osun here is that of promoters and marketers. We produce and market by ourselves and by so doing, it is actually affecting the sales of our records.

People play our records and they appreciate us, but we should also be assisted. If these productions are not available in the market, there is no way we can make profit. If there are marketers that will take up the production, it will assist us in making profit and I can also guarantee that such marketers will also make their profit.

OSDF: Is it true that the refusal of some of the singers to succumb to the sexual demands of some of the promoters that is discouraging

them?

RODIAT: It cannot be all promoters that engage in such things. Anyman can demand for such thing, including marketers or fans, if he appreciates you, but it is left to you as a woman to let them know that you are a responsible woman and you appease their common sense. If it is God’s wish, such person will definitely help and if it is not the God wish, even if he goes to bed with you for so many times, such person will not help and you become useless.

OSDF: Some singers would say they are singing to promote Islam, some would say it is a means of livelihood, while some would say it is just for fun, what is your own target?

ODIAT: In whatever you are doing, there will definitely be a target.

Whoever that says he is singing to promote Islam, he or she is lying, it is a means of livelihood that everybody is looking for. Islam is already in the higher position, we can only make contributions to its progress through our songs. For instance, there are some Islamic songs that have been turned to Fuji music, will you also say that is promoting Islam?

here in Osun, there is no Islamic singer in our association that engages in such thing, because we all have means of educating ourselves on the dangers attached to such things. However, such act is highly condemnable and it is not beffiting of an Islamic singer. It is not when you dress half-nude that you become more successful, afterall, we are seeing successful Islamic singer dressing properly.

OSDF: What has been yourparents’ and husband’s reaction to what you are doing?

RODIAT: My husband, my crown, stands firmly by me at all times. Yes, men may at times have cause to entertain fear to an extent due to the kind of job we do, but what is important is trust. There are several women who are not singers, but they are highly promiscous and they can’t count the number of men they go out with everyday. Once a woman lives with the fear of God, she will not go astray.

So, I must thank my husband for his support and the trust he has in me.

S to my mother, since I have done her wish by going to school, she has also been supportive, especially now that she has seen successful people in the industry. In all the records I have been producing, my mother has been playing very major roles and I appreciate her so much.

OSDF: Has there ever been a time that you have cause to regret venturing into Islamic music?

RODIAT: In every aspect of life, there will definitely be challenges, but with courage and prayers, we are surmmounting the challenges.

Cholera: Symptoms, Treatment And Prevention C HOLERA is an acute diarrhoeal illness caused by some strains of the bacterium Vibrio cholerae.

The cholera organism is known to be present in some rivers along the eastern Australian coast, but cholera acquired in Australia is very rare. In Australia, because of our high standards of sanitation, water and food quality, cholera outbreaks do not occur. Typically, cholera is seen only in travellers arriving from countries where the disease is still common, such as Africa, Central Europe, Latin America and Asia.

How cholera is spread Infection occurs when the bacteria are taken in by mouth, usually in food or water contaminated by human faeces.

Cholera is spread by: · drinking contaminated water · eating food contaminated by dirty water, soiled hands or flies · eating fish or shellfish from contaminated waters.

The cholera organism can survive for long periods in water and ice.

Signs and symptoms Infection is often mild, or without any symptoms, but it can be severe.

Symptoms include: · sudden onset of painless, profuse, watery diarrhoea · nausea and vomiting early in the illness · dehydration.

In severe untreated cases, death may occur within hours, but with simple treatment full recovery can be expected.

Diagnosis Diagnosis is suspected on clinical signs and confirmed by growing Vibrio cholerae from a faecal specimen.

Incubation period (time between becoming infected and developing symptoms) A few hours to 5 days, usually 2 to 3 days.

Infectious period (time during which an infected person can infect others) During the acute stage and for a few days after recovery. However, some people (called ‘carriers’) who do not have symptoms may still carry the bacteria and be infectious, sometimes for months to years.

Treatment Anyone who has been in a highrisk region within the previous 5 days and develops severe vomiting and diarrhoea should seek urgent medical assessment.

Although cholera can be lifethreatening, it is easily treated by immediate rehydration, that is, replacement of the fluid and salts lost through diarrhoea.

Oral rehydration fluid is recommended. This can be obtained from pharmacies.

Patients with severe dehydration or who are unable to keep oral fluids down require hospitalisation and intravenous fluid replacement.

Antibiotics shorten the duration of the illness and lessen the severity, but they are not as important as rehydration.

Prevention · Exclude people with cholera from childcare, preschool, school and work until there has been no diarrhoea for 24 hours. If working as a food handler in a food business, the exclusion period should be until there has been no diarrhoea or vomiting for 48 hours. · Infants, children and adults with cholera infection should not swim until there has been no

diarrhoea for 24 hours. · Follow good hand washing procedures. · Severely ill patients should be isolated in hospital. · People who are less severely

ill can be nursed at home. Faeces and vomit can be disposed of into the toilet except in areas where there is not an adequate sewage disposal system. · All linen and articles used by

the patient should be washed in hot soapy water and the room thoroughly cleaned when the person has recovered. · Vaccines are available but are recommended only for travellers to high-risk countries. They may not protect against all strains of cholera bacteria and protection is for several months only. · When travelling to high-risk countries, seek advice from a travel medical clinic or an experienced general practitioner on how to protect yourself from cholera and other diarrhoeal illnesses. In particular, drink only water that has been boiled or disinfected with iodine or chlorine tablets.

Carbonated bottled drinks are usually safe, if no ice is added. · Good food handling procedures should always be followed, including when travelling. · Contacts (for example, family members) of a case should be observed for 5 days from the date of the last exposure to the infected person. A contact is any person who has been close enough to an infected person to be at risk of having acquired the infection from that person.

What Is Tuberculosis?

TB is an infectious disease that usually affects the lungs. Apart from Chairman, Agriculture Committee, Honourable Mongunu, who owned up and explained his inputs at the only executive session I was allowed to attend, the other few chairmen who loaded the budget kept quiet and watched me bashed from every angle by angry Nigerians,” he said.

Jubrin had also allegedly awarded N405 million for the construction of Kiru–Badaf road in his constituency, as well as inserting N150 million for the rehabilitation and construction of roads in Kiru/Bebeji and another N200 million for the constructions of a pedestrian bridge in the constituency.
