The sad incident was most unfortunate in view of the effort that the Ogbeni Aregbesola administration has put in
place so far towards curbing the occurrence of such a disaster. For there is no denying the fact that the current government of the Ogbeni has invested massively in the channelisation of waterways across the state; a com-
mendable step that has addressed substantially the problem of flooding in the state. It will be recalled that perennial flooding was a major issue in the state - especially in the
state capital - during the inglorious regime of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). However, on assuming office the plight of flooding was the first major issue Ogbeni Aregbesola started to ad-

dress by embarking on clearing of waterways across the state. Areas like Gbonmi , Oke OniTea, Fiwasaye, Rasco, that used to be the most vulnerable were immediately dredged to give way for easy passage of water. -Page 5
