Sack Of Corrupt Judges: A Welcome Development
The recommendation made recently by the National Justice Council (NJC) for the sack of two Judges; Justice Muhammed Nasiru Yunusa of the federal high court, Lagos division
and Justice Olamide Oloyede of the Osun State high court, is a most welcome and indeed commendable development. The duo unfortunately, had gone fishing
in turbulent waters. It will be recalled that Justice Oloyede made an unsubstantiated allegation against the Governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. The fact
that she could not substantiate her claims when invited by the state House of Assembly shows that the allegations were politically motivated. For a
Judge this is not only a contradiction in terms, but constitutes a violation of judicial code of conduct. In the case of Justice Muhammed
Yunusa, he was fond of granting frivolous injunctions in favour of looters of the treasury with a view to pervert the course of justice. Continued on Page 4
