Adeleke Promises Infrastructural Devt. In Rural Areas

GOVERNOR Ademola Adeleke has declared that his administra on would focus on infrastructural development across the nooks and crannies of the State of Osun.

Adeleke paid a familiarisa on visit to the state Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Old Government Press Building, Aderin, Osogbo on Tuesday, where he promised his unflinching support and commitment to infrastructural development in the rural areas of the state.

The Governor who was represented by the Supervisor on Infrastructural Development, Dr. Bashir Salami, noted that all necessary requisite would be put in place to achieve his aim.

He stated that his administra on knows the importance and relevance of RAAMP project being an externally funded scheme working assiduously for the emancipa on of the grassroots people and eleva on of value-added chain through the rehabilita on and construcon of access roads as well as the construc on of Agro Logis c Centre.

“The present administra on would provide an atmosphere for the project to achieve its mandate”, he declared.

The Governor said:

“I appreciate the roles that the project is playing in the development of the rural areas on one part, and that of the development partners on the other hand. This administra on would do everything possible within its power to achieve the best for the state, so that our people would enjoy the dividend of democracy.”

Earlier, the Project Coordinator, Popoola Okediya, had explained that the excellent performance of the project under RAMP-2 qualified the state to par cipate in RAAMP.

Okediya stressed that the project, among other things, “would upgrade 160km rural roads; spot improvement would be done on 400km, as well as backlog maintenance and rehabilita on on

450km rural roads and rou ne maintenance.

“In addi on to the previous project, another component-agricultural marke ngwould focus on the construc on of AgroLogis c Centres in strategic loca ons, using the mul -dimensional indicators as laid down by the donor partners”.

He appreciated the support and cooperaon enjoyed from the state government for providing conducive and enabling environment for the project to operate.
