HIS first model was adopted by Osun during the tenure of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola because it gradually increased debt service capacity in line with increase in economic ac vi es (GDP) of the state. As the state gets more effec ve and efficient in ring-fencing the economic ac vi es into its Internally Gen-

erated Revenue (IGR), the funding becomes more sustainable and addi onal headroom is opened for further financing. The second opon is to use the total revenue over a long period of 20 years because debts for developmental projects are supposed to be on long term basis. But which of the previous

OYALISTS of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior, appear to be under siege in the face of the ongoing crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress in the State of Osun. OSUN DEFENDER noted that no fewer than 16 poli cally mo vated a acks have so far been carried out on Aregbesola’s loyalists and his property between Sunday, March 28, 2021 and Thursday, February 4, 2022. This, according to security experts, is an indica on that there is a resurgent wave of poli cal violence which if not curtailed, could result to full blown breakdown of law and order in the state. It was observed that prior to the crisis between Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and his predecessor, Aregbesola, there was no record of poli cal violence within the APC in Osun. But violence crept into the party when the ri between Aregbesola and Oyetola became a public knowledge. “The need to establish ‘where power is’ through suppression of opposing voice to the governor’s second term is responsible for the resurgence of poli cal violence in the state”, said a poli cal analyst. OSUN DEFENDER noted that a acks on the Minister’s loyalists started when some hoodlums a acked Aregbesola’s Personal Assistant, Mr. Olateju Adunni, on March 28, 2021 in Osogbo. Adunni was a acked at a birthday event of Hon. Taofeek Badmus, who is represen ng Osogbo Cons tuency at the House of Assembly. •Continued on page 2
