KIRUN, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Council, was yesterday thrown into mourning as the traditional ruler of the town, Oba AbdulRauf Olayiwola Olawale, Adedeji II joined his ancestors. Oba Olawale, according to palace sources, passed on at a private hospital in Osogbo around 11pm on Wednesday. The Akinrun was said to have been rushed to
the hospital when his health deteriorated. He was said to have been indisposed and stayed indoor for almost a week before he translated. He ascended the throne in 1990. M e m bers of the Olawale ruling houses, palace workers, sympathisers and other indigenes of Ikirun thronged the palace early yesterday when the news of the monarch’s passage filtered into the town. Some of the mourners were seen crying profusely at the palace while the looks on others’ faces were bitter. OSUN DEFENDER visited the palace and observed that the gate to the residence of the traditional ruler was closed.
