Florida Technical College - Back To School “Back To School” FTC - Florida Technical College que en este evento participaron Por Tatiana Woolrich Kissimmee - El pasado sábado 6 de agosto en el Florida Technical College localizado en Plaza del Sol en Kissimmee, FL. se realizó con gran éxito el evento “Back to School” - De Regreso a Clases, en el cual se obsequiaron mochilas con útiles escolares a todos los niños que asistieron. El Dr. Aris Bravo – Decano Académico del Florida Technical College Kissimmee Campus nos informó en entrevista exclusiva que a un par de horas de iniciar el evento ya se habían reportado más de 150 cortes de cabello realizados, además de más de 100 arreglos de manos. Leiby Adames Boon, Asociada Directora de FTC nos comentó
180 voluntarios en las diferentes áreas. Cecilia González, Bussiness Developer de FTC nos informó que se realizaron más de 200 exámenes físicos y agradeció a todos los Médicos que participaron en los mismos; además de todo lo anterior, FTC dono fondos para la Comunidad. También se degustaron platillos variados y un delicioso pastel realizado por Chefs de Florida Technical College. La tarde transcurrió muy amena, en un ambiente familiar lleno de alegría y cordialidad entre los asistentes. En tarima se presentaron algunos talentos infantiles locales, quienes además de deleitar al público asistente, también lo sorprendieron con su gran talento. El evento culminó con un gran éxito, niños y familias muy contentas como resultado.

“Back To School” FTC - Florida Technical College By Tatiana Woolrich Kissimmee - Last august 06 at Florida Technical School located in Plaza del Sol, Kissimmee, FL “Back To School” event was held and it was very successful. Back-packs and School supplies were given to all the kids that were there. Dr. Aris Bravo, from Florida Technical College Kissimmee Campus on an exclusive interview mentioned that after just a couple hours from starting the event there was a total of more than 150 haircuts done plus over 100 manicures. Leiby Adames Boon, Associated Director of FTC told us that 180 volunteers participated in all different venues. Cecilia Gonzalez, Bussiness Developrer of FTC informed us that over 200 Physical Exams were done and gave a big thank you to all the Doctors who made this possible. FTC also donated some money to the Community. There were delicious snacks and a wonderful cake made by FTC expert Chefs. During the event lots of families enjoyed the live music and local Singers (kids) who surprised everyone with their Talent. “Back to School” Event was a total success. Parents and kids were very happy at the end of it.

Police - Back To School Policía de Kissimmee recuerda a todos... han comenzado las clases esté atento a los niños Si va a dejar a su hijo en la escuela, Kissimmee, FL – Las escuelas del Condado Osceola comenzaron el año escolar 2016-2017 el miércoles, 10 de agosto de 2016. Esto significa que los autobuses escolares estarán en las carreteras y más niños estarán en las calles para caminar o ir en bicicleta a la escuela. Kissimmee Police Reminds Everyone… School Started Be Alert for Children Kissimmee, FL - Osceola County Schools started the 2016-2017 school year on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. This means school buses will be on the roads and more children will be out on the streets walking or riding bikes to and from school. The Kissimmee Police Department wants to remind drivers to watch for the children and be aware of all school zones and stop for school buses. The speed limit in most school zones is 15 miles per hour. If you speed through a school zone you will be subject to enhanced fines and penalties. Please be aware of crossing guards and yield to the children. Parents are urged to protect their children when they are going to and from school. If your child will be riding a bike to school, ensure that the child is wearing a bicycle helmet and that it fits properly. Review bicycle safety rules with your child prior to sending them off on Wednesday morning. If you will be dropping your child off at school, use the proper drop off
area for your school. Do not make alternate drop off areas because of long lines. Give yourself a few extra minutes in the morning to drop your child off at the proper location. Kissimmee police officers will be at the schools in the City’s jurisdiction to assist with traffic flow at the drop off and pick up locations. Motorists need to be aware of school buses and remember, Stop on Red, Kids Ahead! Florida law requires that motorists stop upon approaching any school bus that displays its flashing red lights and has its stop signs extended. The only exception is when a vehicle is traveling in the opposite direction of the school bus and… Traveling on a divided highway with an unpaved space of at least five feet, or Traveling on a divided highway with a raised median or physical barrier. Simply stated, if a school bus is traveling in the opposite direction and there is NO unpaved space or barrier, all drivers MUST stop. Turn lanes do not constitute a barrier.

Valencia College - Noticias / News Conferencia Anual de Mujeres Jóvenes "Líderes por la Vida" celebrada en Valencia College de Operaciones de Tráfico, del Kissimmee, FL - La 4ª Conferencia Anual de Mujeres Jóvenes "Líderes por la Vida" para chicas entre los grados 10 al 12 en el Distrito Escolar del Condado Osceola se llevó a cabo con éxito el 3 de agosto en Valencia College con la participación de más de 50 jóvenes de las escuelas secundarias del Condado Osceola. En esta conferencia por un día de regreso a la escuela se trataron temas que incluyeron; habilidades de liderazgo, finanzas, presupuestos, tarjetas de crédito, de salud y bienestar, vestirse para el éxito, orientación/adiestramiento, tendencias de la industria, orientación profesional, la seguridad en la escuela, el hogar y durante los eventos públicos. This one day back 2 school conference covered topics that included; leadership skills, finance, budgets, credit cards, health and wellness, dressing for success, vision boards, mentoring/coaching,
industry trends, career advice, and safety in school, home and during public events. The conference was presented by Ali Iorio, President of Champion Parenting, Inc. believing in the importance of mentoring and investing in the lives of adolescent women and sponsored by the Education Foundation of Osceola County. The distinguished list of mentors included community leaders from various disciplines including Dr. Manette Monroe, Assist Professor of Pathology, UCF College of Medicine; Joedel Zaballero, PE, Engineer and Traffic Operations, Osceola County Public Works; Twis H. 2016 Elections - Candidatos / Candidates Esta semana estamos presentando a los candidatos para Tasador de Propiedades y Recaudador de Impuestos del Condado Osceola. Ambas posiciones son partidistas, lo que significa que los candidatos deben estar afiliados a algún partido. En las próximas elecciones primarias el 30 de agosto, los candidatos de un mismo partido se enfrentan entre sí para determinar quién va a aparecer en la papeleta en las elecciones generales el 8 de noviembre por cada partido. Para la posición de Tasador de Propiedades hay dos candidatos por el Partido Demócrata que participan en la primaria, Chris Mack y Katrina S. Scarborough. El tercer candidato Julio Melendez no va a aparecer en
la papeleta de la primaria, ya que él es el único candidato por el Partido Republicano. Para Recaudador de Impuestos sólo hay dos candidatos por el Partido Demócrata, Orlando González y Bruce Vickers. No hay candidato por el Partido Republicano. El candidato electo para estas dos posiciones servirá un mandato de 4 años. En las elecciones primarias de 2014, sólo el 18 por ciento de los votantes registrados participaron. Debates Osceola 2016 Debates Osceola Condado Osceola, FL - El Osceola Star llevó a cabo “Debates Osceola”, el jueves, 11 de agosto en la Cámara de la Comisión de la Ciudad de Kissimmee en la Alcaldía. El evento ofreció a los candidatos federales, estatales y locales del Condado Osceola para el 2016 la oportunidad de hablar de su plataforma política a la gente que cuenta - los votantes. Se contó con la presencia de candidatos de varias posiciones, desde Representantes hasta del Sheriff del Condado Osceola.

Debates Osceola Osceola County, FL - El Osceola Star Newspaper held Debates Osceola, Thursday, August 11th from 2:40pm-7:00pm at Kissimmee City Hall. The event gave 2016 federal, state and local candidates of Osceola County the chance to talk about their political platform to the people who count—the voters. There were various candidate positions in attendance, ranging from Unites States Representative to Osceola County

Sheriff. Each of the candidates had the opportunity to answer questions from a panel of various media outlets who asked questions on some of the biggest concerns within Osceola County and Central Florida. It was a very successful event that gave voters the chance to learn about the candidates and decide which candidate they would most likely vote for. We will have more information in our next edition.

Rule to Extend Process to All Individuals Who are Statutorily Eligible for the Waiver Washington—U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced a final rule expanding the existing provisional waiver process to allow certain individuals who are family members of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents (LPRs), and who are statutorily eligible for immigrant visas, to more easily navigate the immigration process. The provisional waiver process promotes family unity by reducing the time that eligible individuals are separated from their family members while they complete immigration processing abroad, while also improving administrative efficiency. This final rule builds on a process established in 2013 to support family unity. Under that process, certain immediate relatives of U.S. citizens can apply for provisional waivers of the unlawful presence ground of inadmissibility, based on the extreme hardship their U.S. citizen spouses or parents would suffer if the waiver were not granted. The rule announced today, which goes into effect on Aug. 29, 2016, expands eligibility for the provisional waiver process to all individuals who are statutorily eligible for the waiver of the unlawful presence ground of inadmissibility. USCIS expects to update its Policy Manual to provide guidance on how USCIS makes “extreme hardship” determinations in the coming weeks. Until now, only immediate relatives of U.S. citizens
were eligible to seek such provisional waivers before departing the United States for the processing of their immigrant visas. Those eligible for the provisional waiver process under the 2013 rule are only a subset of those eligible for the waiver under the statute. This regulation expands eligibility for the process to all individuals who are statutorily eligible for the waiver. To qualify for a provisional waiver, applicants must establish that their U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouses or parents would experience “extreme hardship” if the applicants are not allowed to return to the United States. The final rule also makes changes to Form I-601A, Application for Provisional Unlawful Presence Waiver. These changes will go into effect along with the final rule. En primer lugar algunos antecedentes sobre los esteroides. Hay dos tipos de esteroides: los corticosteroides y esteroides anabólicos. Q. I’ve been reading about athletes using steroids to build themselves up. Do these drugs work for older men? First some background on steroids. When anabolic steroids increase the levels of testosterone in the blood, they stimulate muscle tissue in the body to grow larger and stronger. The effects of too much testosterone can be harmful. Some of the negative effects are rage, liver disease, high cholesterol, severe acne, baldness and infertility. So-called natural steroids such as DHEA that are sold as over-thecounter supplements at many health food stores can have the same harmful effects as synthetic steroids. The only difference between natural and synthetic steroids is that synthetic steroids are made in a lab and are chemically altered. Prior to January 2005, anabolic steroid supplements containing androstenedione also were available at health food stores. Because of safety issues, however, these supplements now cannot be sold without a prescription. Because some hormone levels drop with age, there’s a theory that this
decline causes us to age. Declining levels of testosterone, the male sex hormone, have been linked with decreased energy and sex drive, muscle weakness and osteoporosis. But, can you reverse aging by restoring your hormones? DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is a hormone secreted by the adrenal gland. DHEA levels in the body begin to decrease after age 30. Your body converts DHEA into the sex hormones estrogen and testosterone. Proponents say it slows aging, increases muscle and bone strength, burns fat, improves cognition, bolsters immunity and protects against chronic diseases. There is no convincing medical evidence to support these claims about DHEA. Even short-term use of DHEA may cause liver damage There is sufficient evidence supporting the use of DHEA in the treatment of adrenal insufficiency, depression, induction of labor, and lupus. There is a lack of available studies on the long-term effects of DHEA. However, DHEA may cause higher than normal levels of androgens and estrogens in the body, and theoretically may increase the risk of prostate, breast, ovarian, and other hormone-sensitive cancers. Therefore, it is not recommended for regular use without supervision by a licensed healthcare professional. Don’t believe advertisements that tell you supplements are natural remedies, implying that they can’t hurt you. Some people try supplements such as coral calcium, ginseng and echinacea to stop aging. There isn't any evidence to support the claims for these supplements either. Talk to your doctor before taking any supplement. Ingredients in supplements can cause harmful interactions with your medications and serious side effects.

In support of the local community, the Central Florida Foundation recently issued the first grant from its Better Together Fund. O’Dell is a self-taught artist who retired to Florida in 2000 after working for Ford Motor Company. He purchased books and magazines on art materials and techniques and decided that acrylic paints would be the best medium for him. He then purchased materials and set-up a studio space in his garage, where he began creating his pieces. “I have found that there is something truly satisfying about watching a blank canvas become a finished painting. I hope people enjoy looking at my paintings as much as I enjoy painting them” said O’Dell.

Sheriff - Noticias / News Detectives detienen sospechoso de asesinato en primer grado Condado Osceola - El 5 de agosto, los detectives del Sheriff del Condado Osceola detuvieron a Roger Ramiro Sevilla Matute y lo acusaron de asesinato en primer grado. La investigación se inició el 2 de agosto, cuando los agentes encontraron un hombre fallecido cerca de la milla 226 en la autopista de peaje de la Florida. La víctima, identificada como José Manuel Nolasco-Amaya, de 37 años, fue visto por última vez con su amigo Matute el 31 de julio de 2016.
Los detectives creen que Matute estuvo involucrado en la muerte de la víctima. El 4 de agosto, los detectives obtuvieron una orden de arresto contra Matute y fue arrestado para ser interrogado, pero no cooperó con la investigación. Detectives Arrested Suspect for First Degree Murder Osceola County – On August 5, Osceola County Sheriff's detectives arrested Roger Ramiro Sevilla Matute and charged him with First Degree Murder. The investigation began on August 2 when deputies located a deceased male near mile marker 226 on the Florida Turnpike. The victim, identified as Jose Manuel Nolasco-Amaya, 37 was last seen with his friend Matute on July 31, 2016. Detectives believe Matute was involved in the victim's death. On August 4, detectives issued a felony warrant for Matute's arrest and he was brought in for questioning but did not cooperate with the
investigation. Based on the evidence, Matute was charged with First Degree Murder and booked into the Osceola County Jail with no bond. The investigation is on-going.

Osceola County – On August 6, Osceola County Sheriff's deputies were patrolling in the area of West 192 in Kissimmee when they observed a red helicopter flying a few feet from the tops of cars traveling both eastbound and westbound. The helicopter's proximity was so close to the cars, that if a passenger van or semi-truck were traveling the same direction, there would have been a collision with the aircraft. At one point, a motorist, who witnessed the incident, alerted the deputy to make sure he saw the helicopter, too. Deputies responded Orlando HeliTours located at 5071 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, where the aircraft is registered, and spoke with the manager. They explained the incident they witnessed and asked to speak with the pilot, identified as Thomas
waited for Vorstman near the helicopter pad, but when he returned, he refused to exit the aircraft. Deputies made numerous attempts to get Vorstman to meet with them, but he would not turn off the aircraft and, for safety concerns, they were not able to approach him. Instead, Vorstman advised he could not exit and was left in the helicopter with a group of passengers. Approximately 5 minutes later, Vorstman returned and, after finishing his safety checks and exiting the aircraft he met with deputies. He told them he “had a heavy load” and explained why he was flying low over traffic. Based on the statements and evidence, Vorstman was arrested and charged with Operating an Aircraft in a Reckless Manner and Resisting Without Violence. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail.

La escenografía estuvo compuesta por toneladas de equipo y efectos especiales, además de un potente equipo de sonido y espectacular montaje de luces y elementos de pirotecnia. Fue una noche de acción de principio a fin. “THE KINGDOM” es definitivamente un espectáculo irrepetible, sin precedentes, magistral e histórico.

”THE KINGDOM TOUR” – Daddy Yankee y Don Omar Orlando, FL - On Sunday, August 7 “THE KINGDOM TOUR” with Daddy Yankee & Don Omar was presented at the Amway Center and was a sold out event. This Regueton Concert was Produced by Felix Cabrera y Raphy Pina in
partnership with El Osceola Star Newspaper. DJ Collins was in charge of the opening. Daddy Yankee appeared in front of thousands of fans who were singing along to some of his biggest hits. Later that night, it was Don Omar’s turn to light up the place. At the end, both artists sang a couple of songs together. All the fans at the Concert were singing and dancing to hits like “Shaki, Shaki” and “La Gasolina” by Daddy Yankee and “Hasta que salga el sol” and “Danza Kuduro” by Don Omar. There were lots of stage props used and special effects were huge part of the Set. The surrounding atmosphere was filled with loud music and a spectacular set of light & pyrotechnics. From beginning to end it was an unforgettable, unprecedented, hard to repeat and was truly a historical Concert.

Entretenimiento / Entertainment Shakira, Falcao y hasta Chocquibtown también se sumaron al festejo Miami, FL- La felicidad de cantar en Medellín durante cada Feria de Las Flores se ha convertido para Carlos Vives en una fecha inolvidable, no solo por el amor del público paisa sino porque coincide con su cumpleaños. Las celebraciones de los 55 años de la estrella colombiana comenzaron en Santa Marta con su familia. Luego a su llegada a tierra antioqueña él festejó encabezando el desfile de bicicletas del sábado en la tarde. Varios kilómetros recorrió y a su paso solo se oían gritos de saludos, expresiones de admiración y algunas personas hasta le cantaban emocionados apartes de su éxito La Bicicleta. Pero esto no terminó allí. Este mismo sábado llegando a la media noche, hizo lo que mejor le gusta hacer, cantar. Y así fue ante más de 50 mil espectadores en el llamado Metro Concierto, el más grande show musical en el marco de las festividades en la llamada eterna primavera.
Un recorrido de dos horas de canciones, donde no solo sus vallenatos interpretó. También se lanzó a cantar una que otra ranchera y trovas. Entre tanto momento emotivo y de furor, y cuando ya se estaba despidiendo de su espectáculo, en escena aparecieron Marc Anthony, Silvestre Dangond y JBalvin cantándole el Feliz Cumpleaños. Pero no solo recibió felicitaciones de ellos, también a través de las redes sus seguidores, amigos, colegas y medios de comunicación de diferentes países se hicieron sentir. Saludos como el de Shakira quien con una torta adornada con dos muñecos en bicicleta le dijo "Feliz Cumpleaños Carlitos", también. Así se fueron sumando Falcao y Chocquibtown, entre muchos otros, una ovación viral que dejó claro el amor que sienten los latinos por quien consideran uno de los más grandes artistas que ha dado Colombia para el mundo.
