Osceola County News Condado Osceola inicia programa de $5 millones para renovación de bibliotecas Condado Osceola, FL – El Condado Osceola está lanzando un programa de $5 millones para renovar sus bibliotecas con el trabajo programado para comenzar el próximo mes en la biblioteca de Buenaventura Lakes. La biblioteca de Buenaventura Lakes se cerrará el 7 de marzo para una muy necesaria actualización. Osceola County Starts $5 Million Library Renovation Program Osceola County, FL – Osceola County is launching a $5 million program to renovate its libraries with work scheduled to begin next month at the Buenaventura Lakes branch. The BVL library will close March 7 for a much-needed “upgrade and update.” Major improvements to exterior siding, interior paint, flooring and furnishings are part of the scope of work. Only one branch at a time will be closed, to minimize the impact on library patrons. For instance, when the BVL branch opens in April, the Poinciana branch will close for a similar round of work with an opening scheduled about 30 days later. When placing a hold on a book, CD, movie or other materials, it is possible to designate a branch for pick up. With BVL closed, the two closest options will be the Central or St. Cloud locations. But individuals may have a preference based on work location or social habits.

“The library’s extensive online resources will continue to be available for all customers,” Janer added. Dates for closures at the Central and St. Cloud libraries are not yet available, but up-to-date information on the project can be found at http://osceolalibrary.org/ renovations/ . The West Osceola branch, the newest in the system, will receive some upgrades that will decrease ambient noise in the building. That work will not require a closure, officials said. The projects also will include new furnishings, wall paint and some reconfiguration of interior space. Some branches also will receive roof repairs and work on the heating, ventilation and airconditioning systems (HVAC). In a separate project, the county also is working on upgrading its Wi-Fi services.

HBIF- Tour Latino 2016 600 Ciclistas participan en Tour Latino a beneficio de HBIF Orlando, FL – El evento de ciclismo Tour Latino, organizado a beneficio del Fondo de Iniciativa para Negocios Hispanos de la Florida (HBIF por sus siglas en inglés), cumplió con las expectativas de la organización el día domingo, 21 de febrero. Seiscientas personas se inscribieron en este tercer evento anual para completar las rutas de 10, 25, 60 y 100 millas a través de las colinas del condado de Lake. Durante tempranas horas de la mañana, ciclistas de diferentes nacionalidades, edades y niveles de experiencia llegaron de distintas regiones de la Florida y de otros estados para concentrarse en el “Waterfront Park” de Clermont, donde se llevaría a cabo el tan esperado Tour Latino. Luego del himno nacional y la presentación de banderas, la Vice Presidente de HBIF en la Florida central, Gaby Ortigoni, se encargó de dar inicio a la justa ciclista que reunió a 600 pedalistas y sus familiares, amigos y colegas. Durante el recorrido, los voluntarios del evento les ofrecieron apoyo a los atletas en lugares estratégicos con bebidas y alimentos escogidos específicamente para mantener su energía. Al terminar el recorrido, los pedalistas pudieron disfrutar de una celebración con ambiente

latino, que incluyó juegos de dominó, expositores de patrocinadores y negocios locales, música latina, y comida donada por Zaza New Cuban Diner. La ceremonia de premiación estuvo a cargo del presentador de Univisión Orlando, Paul Gamache. También intervinieron el Presidente y Director Ejecutivo de HBIF, Augusto Sanabria, y la Vicepresidente de HBIF en la Costa Oeste, Leonela Cole, quienes agradecieron a todos los asistentes su participación y el apoyo brindado. Para finalizar la ceremonia, se anunciaron entre los ciclistas los ganadores de las medallas por categorías y de las rifas. 600 Cyclists Participated In Tour Latino Benefiting HBIF Orlando, FL – Tour Latino, a cycling event benefiting the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund of Florida (HBIF), met all the expectations of its organizers on Sunday, Feb. 21. Six hundred people registered for this third annual event to ride 10, 25, 60 and 100-mile routes across the hills of Lake County. During early hours of the morning, cyclists of different nationalities, ages and cycling experience came from different regions of Florida as well as from other states to gather at Clermont’s Waterfront Park, where the long-awaited Tour Latino event took place. After the national anthem and flag presentation, HBIF’s Vice President in Central Florida Gaby Ortigoni kicked off the sports fundraiser which brought together 600 cyclists as well as their relatives, friends and colleagues. During the ride, event volunteers offered support to the athletes in strategic locations with beverages and food specifically chosen to help fuel their energy. After riding, the cyclists enjoyed a Latin celebration that included domino games, local business and sponsor exhibits, music,

and food donated by Zaza New Cuban Diner. The closing ceremony was led by Univision Orlando Anchor Paul Gamache. HBIF’s Statewide President and CEO Augusto Sanabria, and HBIF’s West Coast Vice President Leonela Cole, addressed the attendees to thank them for participating and supporting HBIF’s mission. To conclude the ceremony, winners were announced among the cyclists for medals presented by age group and drawing prizes. The 2016 Tour Latino undoubtedly celebrated and promoted the mission of HBIF and the Hispanic culture, and raised funds that will help the nonprofit organization to continue supporting Hispanic entrepreneurs to create and retain jobs in Florida. IRS - Noticias / News Podría recibir nuevos formularios del cuidado los formularios 1095-B y 1095-C es el de salud este año Comenzando este año, usted podría recibir uno o más formularios que contienen información sobre la cobertura del cuidado de salud que tuvo o que le ofrecieron durante el 2015. Tal como el Formulario W-2 y el Formulario 1099, que incluyen información sobre los ingresos que recibió, estos formularios ofrecen información sobre su cobertura de cuidado de salud que quizá tenga que reportar al presentar su declaración de impuestos federal. New forms from Health Insurance Marketplace Starting this year, you may receive one or more forms providing information about the health care coverage that you had or were offered during 2015. Much like Form W-2 and Form 1099, which include information about the income you received, these forms provide information about your health care coverage that you may need when you file your individual income tax return. Two of these forms are new this year and one is a form that was sent to some taxpayers in 2015. The new forms are: Form 1095-B, Health Coverage. Health insurance providers send this form to individuals they cover, with information about who was covered and when. Form 1095-C, Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage - Certain employers send this form to certain employees, with information about what coverage the employer offered. Employers that offer health coverage referred to as “self-insured coverage” send this form to individuals they cover, with information about who was covered and when.

The deadline for insurers, other coverage providers, and certain employers to provide Forms 1095-B and 1095-C is March 31, 2016.. Some taxpayers may not receive a Form 1095B or Form 1095-C by the time they are ready to file their 2015 tax return. While the information on these forms may assist in preparing a return, they are not required; it is not necessary to wait for Forms 1095-B or 1095-C in order to file. The form that was first issued last year is Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement. The Health Insurance Marketplace sends this form to individuals who enrolled in coverage through the Marketplace. The form includes information about the coverage, who was covered, and when. The deadline for the Marketplace to provide individuals with Form 1095-A is February 1, 2016. If you are expecting to receive a Form 1095-A, you should wait to file your 2015 income tax return until you receive that form. You are likely to get more than one form if you had coverage from more than one coverage provider, if you worked for more than one employer that offered coverage or if you enrolled for coverage in the Marketplace for a portion of the year and received coverage from another source for part of the year. You are also likely to get more than one form if you changed coverage or employers during the year or if different members of your family received coverage from different coverage providers. You should not attach any of these forms to your tax return but should keep them with your tax records.

State - Noticias / News La Florida recibió la cifra récord de 105 millones de turistas en el 2015 Orlando, FL – El Gobernador Scott anunció que la Florida ha roto otro record en materia de turismo, luego de haber dado la bienvenida a 105 millones de visitantes en el 2015, según ha dado a conocer VISIT FLORIDA. Este es el quinto año consecutivo en que se superan los récords anteriores en lo que se refiere a cifras de visitantes en la Florida, superando en 6.6 por ciento la cifra de 98.5 millones del 2014. El número promedio de empleos directamente relacionados con el turismo en el 2015 también marcó un Nuevo récord, al ubicarse en 1,199,200 floridanos empleados por la industria del turismo – acusando un crecimiento de 53,400 personas que equivalen al 4.7 por ciento sobre el mismo periodo del año pasado. El Gobernador Scott hizo el anuncio en el parque de atracciones de Walt Disney World en Orlando. VISIT FLORIDA calcula que una cifra

Total enplanements at 18 Florida airports during 2015 increased 8.2 percent over the previous year, representing a record 6.1 million more enplaned passengers than in 2014. Bill Payment Scam Targets Utility Customers Kissimmee, FL – Kissimmee Utility Authority is warning its customers to beware of the latest episode of bill payment scams. Since Friday, KUA has received numerous reports from customers who have been contacted by phone by individuals claiming to be from “KUA Collections” and advising of a past due balance on their utility bill. One customer fell victim to the scam after sending $1,200 via MoneyGram, a popular money transfer service. Even though these customers are not behind on their payments, the scammers warn that service will be shut off immediately unless the customer agrees to make an

immediate payment by sending funds through MoneyGram. Threats of immediate disconnection are generally a sign that customers have been contacted by a scam artist. Additionally, these scammers use “spoofing” software that lets them falsely display the name and phone number of the utility on the customer’s caller ID. KUA provides a mailed past-due notice and a courtesy automated reminder call before terminating service, but never demands direct payment over the telephone. If customers wish, they can arrange for a payment by check, credit card or debit card if they speak directly to a customer service representative or pay online at http://ebill.kua.com. KUA offers these tips to avoid falling victim to a utility scam:

* Never provide your Social Security Number, credit card number or banking information to anyone requesting it over the phone or in person unless you initiated the contact and feel confident with whom you are speaking. * If you receive a call claiming to be your utility company and feel pressured for immediate payment or personal information, hang up the phone and call the customer service number on your utility bill. * Always think safety first. Do not give in to high-pressure tactics over the phone or in person for information. Customers approached for this type of personal information, or who believe they may be a victim of a scam, should report the incident to law enforcement.

Record Number of Americans Apply to #BeAnAstronaut at NASA More than 18,300 people applied to join NASA’s 2017 astronaut class, almost three times the number of applications received in 2012 for the most recent astronaut class, and far surpassing the previous record of 8,000 in 1978. Applications opened December 14, and closed February 18, but that is just the beginning of an 18-month process that will end with the selection of 8-14 individuals for the opportunity to become astronaut candidates. NASA expects to announce its selections in mid-2017.

Kissimmee, FL — The City of Kissimmee announces that Oak Street from Vine Street to Lawrence Silas Boulevard will be closed to through traffic starting Monday, February 15th thru February 10th, 2017. This northern most portion of Oak Street in the area of the Mill Creek Mall will be open to traffic with various lane closures and lane shirts during the duration of this phased work. The section of Oak Street from Vine Street (Highway 192) and Robinson Street, will be widened from two lanes to four lanes to accommodate the growing traffic demands, and increasing business establishments within the corridor. The

railroad crossing will be improved, and a four foot bicycle lane will be added in each direction. A six foot sidewalk will also be added to both sides of the street. Drainage collection systems and drainage ponds will be added to improve storm water runoff throughout the roadway corridor, and street lights, brick paved crosswalks, landscaping, and several turn-lanes will also be added at intersections. The total project cost is $9,448,684 and the project is expected to last just over two years. Access to all business locations will remain open throughout the duration of construction.
