Kissimmee, FL - On Monday, August 27, the Osceola School District rolled out an innovative free mobile app entitled Here Comes the Busdistrictwide in an effort to improve communication with the 27,000 students who ride a school bus and their parents. Here Comes the Bus allows parents to view the real-time location of their child’s school bus on their smartphone, tablet, or computer. With it, parents will have the information they need to send their children to the bus stop at just the right time, helping to protect them from inclement weather and to better gauge the actual arrival time of the bus.

KUA - Noticias / News KUA breaks ground on largest electrical substation in Kissimmee Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee Utility Authority has begun construction on a new $20 million electrical substation in Kissimmee, the largest substation in its 85-square mile service area. The Domingo Toro Substation will provide power for current and future customers in east Kissimmee, including NeoCity—a new 500-acre masterplanned technology district being developed by Osceola County. NeoCity is slated to become a significant and comprehensive global center for smart sensor, photonics and nano-technology research and development. The substation was named by the utility board in 2007 for Domingo Toro, the utility’s first Hispanic board member. He served from 1997 until 2007 in a

¡No lo botes, arréglalo! Condado Orange, FL La Semana Nacional de Prevención de Contaminación Ambiental corre del 19 al 23 de septiembre, 2018 y para iniciarla, el Condado Orange estará presentando su segundo evento “¡No lo botes, arréglalo!” Este evento GRATUITO tendrá lugar el sábado, 15 de septiembre de 10 a.m. a 1 p.m. en Barnett Park, 4801 W Colonial Drive, Orlando. En el taller de reparaciones, empresas locales y voluntarios con experiencia ofrecerán a las residentes reparaciones menores para una variedad de artículos del hogar, tales como ropa, joyería, electrónica, bicicletas, relojes, anteojos y libros. Los artículos serán reparados por orden de llegada. No se garantiza que el artículo pueda ser reparado. El Condado Orange une esfuerzos con la ciudad de Winter Park, que creó el evento en el 2017, y la ciudad de Orlando para aumentar las oportunidades de servicios gratuitos de reparación para residentes locales. “Nuestra meta es proveer un beneficio económico para la comunidad a la vez que despertamos conciencia sobre la conservación de recursos,” comentó David Jones, gerente de la División de Protección

Don’t Pitch It, Fix It! Orange County, Fl. – National Pollution Prevention Week runs from September 19-23, 2018, and to kick it off, Orange County is hosting its second “Don’t Pitch It, Fix It!” event. This FREE event takes place Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Barnett Park, 4801 W Colonial Drive, Orlando. At the repair workshop, local businesses and “handy” volunteers will offer residents free minor repairs for a variety of household items, such as clothing, jewelry, electronics, bicycles, watches, eyeglasses and books. Items will be repaired on a first-come, firstserved basis. There is no guarantee the item can be fixed. Orange County is joining efforts with Winter Park, which created the event in 2017, and the City of Orlando to increase free repair service opportunities for local residents. “Our goal is to provide an economic benefit for the community while raising awareness about resource conservation,” said David Jones, manager of Orange County’s Environmental Protection Division. In April, Orange
County successfully hosted its first Don’t Pitch It, Fix It! event. During that event, a dozen volunteers fixed items such as bicycles, jewelry, fishing poles and clothing, keeping more than 60 items out of the landfill. Since the first Don’t Pitch It, Fix It! event was held last year, more than 200 items have been restored to usefulness by skilled repair providers. With the continued dedication of close to 30 repair volunteers, this community event is growing and now has three municipalities joining the effort to help residents find repair options, provide a venue for repair providers to showcase their skills and offer an alternative to disposal for items that still have a useful life.

Graduación de la cadete Zuheidy Nieves-Fred Cadet Zuheidy Nieves-Fred graduation Condado Osceola, FL - La cadete Zuheidy Nieves-Fred se graduó de la academia de aplicación de la ley de Osceola Technical College y se convirtió en sheriff adjunto de la oficina del sheriff del condado Osceola. La graduación se llevó a cabo en el Auditorio de la escuela secundaria de Osceola en Kissimmee. Su padre es un oficial de policía retirado de Puerto Rico, el Capitán Héctor Nieves Rivera; asistió con su uniforme de Puerto Rico. Zuheidy deseaba seguir los pasos de su padre y convertirse en oficial de policía en Puerto Rico después de graduarse
en la universidad, pero el huracán María golpeó poco después y lo hizo difícil en función de las condiciones en la isla. Zuheidy se mudó al condado Osceola sabiendo poco inglés y tomó la iniciativa de tomar varios cursos de inglés en cuestión de unos meses y prepararse para pasar todas las pruebas necesarias para ser patrocinada en la Academia y pasar todas las pruebas requeridas a lo largo de la ley. Ella fue increíblemente exitosa en la academia y su empuje y pasión son admirables.

Osceola County, FL - Cadet Zuheidy Nieves-Fred has graduated the law enforcement academy of Osceola Technical College and became a deputy sheriff with the Osceola County sheriff’s office. The graduation was held at the Osceola high school Auditorium in Kissimmee. Her father is a retired police officer from Puerto Rico, Captain Hector Nieves Rivera; he attended wearing his uniform from Puerto Rico. Zuheidy wished to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a police officer in Puerto
Rico after graduating college. But hurricane Maria hit shortly after and made that difficult based on conditions in the island. Zuheidy moved to Osceola County knowing little English and took the initiative to take several English courses in a matter of a few months and prepared herself to successfully pass all the test required to be sponsored to the Academy and pass all the required testing throughout the law enforcement academy. She was incredibly successful in the academy and her drive and passion is admirable.

Sheriff - Noticias / News Dos hombres arrestados por robo y hurto mayor Condado Osceola, FL - El 16 de agosto de 2018, la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado Osceola respondió a la subdivisión Reedy Reserve en Kissimmee, para realizar una investigación después de que varios vehículos fueron robados durante la noche, uno de estos dentro de la comunidad. Los oficiales localizaron imágenes de vigilancia de varias casas que revelaron que dos sospechosos fueron responsables de los crímenes cometidos. En uno de los robos, los sospechosos entraron al garaje adjunto de una casa mientras los residentes dormían. El vehículo robado fue localizado unas horas más tarde después de que fue abandonado por los dos sospechosos. Los detectives pudieron identificar rápidamente a los sospechosos como Marcelo Pinochet y José Cáceres-Ponce de Poinciana, FL. Ambos sospechosos fueron
arrestados el 20 de agosto de 2018 y acusados de: 9 cargos de transporte de robo, 1 cargo por robo a vivienda ocupada, 1 cargo de robo de vehículo, 1 cargo por robo. Two Men arrested for burglary and grand theft The Osceola County Sheriff’s Osceola County, FL - On August 16, 2018, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Reedy Reserve subdivision in Kissimmee, to conduct an investigation after multiple vehicles were burglarized overnight and a vehicle was stolen from within the community. Detectives located surveillance footage from several homes which revealed two suspects were responsible for the crimes committed. In one of the burglaries the suspects walked into the attached garage of a home while the residents were sleeping inside. The stolen vehicle was located a few hours later after it was abandoned by the two suspects. Detectives were able to quickly identify the suspects as Marcelo Pinochet and Jose Caceres-Ponce of Poinciana, FL. Both suspects were arrested on August 20, 2018, and charged with; 9 counts of Burglary conveyance, 1 count Occupied Burglary dwelling, 1 count Grand Theft Auto, 1 count Grand Theft.

We missed you, Champions League On the morning of Thursday, August 30, directly from Monaco, the 8 groups of the 2018-19 UEFA Champions League were defined. In the same ceremony that Modric took home the prize for the best player of the season, all the matches of this new Champions were set, which will start on September 18 and will end on June 1 at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid. These are the groups: Group A: Atleti, for glory at home. Complicated opponents for the European SuperCup champion. Borussia Dortmund, always a difficult opponent. Monaco is not the same semifinalist of 2017 (since then they’ve lost Mbappé, Lemar, Bernardo Silva, Fabinho, Keita), but still have Falcao, and Bruges is the current Belgium champion, But Simeone’s squad is quite impressive and are one of the favorites to reach the final, which will be played at home.

Los hombres y mujeres se enfrentaron en duelos de baile y el jurado fue el encargado de elegir al azar a las parejas que combatirían en la pista. La actriz Candela Márquez fue la invitada especial de la noche, quien llegó a completar el equipo de Sara Corrales, Rosie Rivera y Greeicy Rendón. Los retadores fueron Santiago Ramundo, Emmanuel Palomares, Paul Stanley y Rommel Pacheco. Después de cada enfrentamiento de baile, los jueces otorgaron un punto
para la mejor rutina. Al finalizar los duelos, las mujeres obtuvieron la mayor cantidad de puntos, por lo que su equipo fue declarado vencedor, obteniendo un importante privilegio: mandar directamente a un integrante del equipo contrario a la ronda de salvación. Rosie Rivera was the fourth eliminated from Mira Quién Baila, Santiago Ramundo and Paul Stanley are nominated On Sunday, the fifth episode of Mira Quién Baila took place. A night full of surprises, dedicated to the icon of Latin American music, Juan Gabriel. In this gala the rules changed and the dance round began with a war of the sexes. The men and women met in dance duels and the jury was in charge of randomly choosing the couples that would fight on the dance floor. Actress Candela Márquez was the special guest of the night, who came to complete the team of Sara Corrales, Rosie Rivera and Greeicy Rendón. The challengers were Santiago Ramundo, Emmanuel Palomares, Paul Stanley and Rommel Pacheco. After each dance showdown, the judges awarded a point for the best routine. At the end of the duels, the
women obtained the highest points, so that their team was declared the winner, obtaining an important privilege: sending directly a member of the opposing team to the round of salvation.
