OCSO and KPD keep students safe with Operation BFF Osceola County, FL - The Kissimmee Police Department (KPD) and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) are making sure kids stay safe as they head back to school. That’s why on August 15, officers from KPD and OCSO will be conducting their second high-visibility crosswalk enforcement action, dubbed Operation BFF, across Osceola County. At their first Operation, more than 95 drivers received a citation or warning for failure to stop for a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk. On the flip side, several drivers did comply with the law. One driver even called out that he had heard about the operation on the news and knew that if he didn’t stop, he was going to get a ticket. That’s where enforcement and education intertwine – through the media coverage before and after Operation BFF. OCSO and KPD will be conducting Operation BFF on Wednesday, August 15, beginning at 7:30AM. Back in April, KPD and OCSO enforced the driver yield law at three marked crosswalks near local schools. Enforced crosswalks include: Donegan Ave & Coral Ave. – Speed limit: 35mph – OCSO; Thacker Ave & Kissimmee Trail (2310 N. Thacker Ave.) – Speed limit: 40mph – KPD and Hoagland Blvd. & Hideaway Bay – Speed limit: 30mph

– KPD. Officers dressed in plain clothes crossed the street in these crosswalks, giving drivers enough time to yield to them. Those who didn’t – a total of 96 – were pulled over and given a warning or a citation. Officers also took the time to educate drivers on the driver yield law and their responsibility in keeping people walking safe. Thank you, KPD and OSCO, for all your hard work. Both education and enforcement are part of the “Triple E” method of combining high-visibility Enforcement, Education and low-cost Engineering at marked crosswalks where drivers fail to yield to people walking. The Best Foot Forward coalition, which helps coordinate Operation BFF, has been implementing this method in Orange County since 2012 with positive results. Local officials came out to support the cause and see first-hand what enforcement was all about with OCSO and KPD’s first enforcement action. Sheriff & Police - Noticias / News Arresto por robo a mano armada Condado Osceola, FL - El 8 de julio de 2018, aproximadamente a las 3:10 PM, la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado Osceola respondió a la tienda “Justice” ubicada en The Loop, 3258 N. John Young Parkway Kissimmee, en referencia a un robo a mano armada. La víctima les dijo a los agentes que un hombre hispano había ingresado a la tienda con un sombrero de pescar color canela, una camisa verde de manga larga y unos jeans; se acercó al mostrador con un arma de fuego y exigió efectivo. El sospechoso huyó de la escena a pie en una dirección desconocida. La investigación reveló que el sospechoso estaba relacionado con varios robos a mano armada en el área de la Florida Central dirigidos a mujeres en o alrededor de centros

comerciales. Armed Robbery Arrest Osceola County, FL - On July 8, 2018, at approximately 3:10 PM, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office responded the Justice store located at The Loop, 3258 N. John Young Parkway Kissimmee, Florida in reference to an armed robbery. The victim told deputies that a Hispanic male entered the store wearing a tan fishing hat, green long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans; approached the counter armed with firearm and demanded cash. The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The investigation revealed the suspect was connected to several other armed robberies in the Central Florida area targeting females in or around shopping centers. On July 24, 2018, a joint investigation between detectives from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the Saint Cloud Police

Department, the Ocoee Police Department, and Orlando Police Department resulted in the arrest of Hector Luis Massas, 09/19/1969, while he was in Daytona Beach, Florida. Anyone with information concerning these or other cases like these is asked to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at (407) 348-2222 or Crimeline at 1-800-4238477, where information leading to an arrest may be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000.

El Legado de Osorio en la Selección Mexicana Juan Carlos Osorio oficialmente ha dejado de ser el Director Técnico de la Selección Mexicana. El colombiano estuvo desde octubre 2015, y se va dejando un sabor agridulce, con demasiados claroscuros, con hazañas épicas y derrotas imborrables. Su marca de 31 victorias, 9 empates y 10 derrotas es la más efectiva en la historia de la Selección (con mínimo 5 partidos), pero se va sin conseguir un solo título, algo que sí consiguieron Herrera, de la Torre, Aguirre, La Volpe, Lapuente. La era Osorio estuvo marcada por los extremismos y las exageraciones. Ganó los primeros 9 partidos al frente del Tri, llegando a estar 806 minutos sin recibir gol (hasta el partido Nº 8, vs Uruguay). Pero la primera derrota en su etapa, no la olvidaremos nunca: Chile nos eliminó con un rotundo y humillante 7-0 de la Copa América 2016. En los siguientes 16 partidos, solo se perdió un amistoso, se empataron 4 y se ganaron los restantes 11 encuentros, incluyendo la trascendental victoria de 2-1 en Columbus ante Estados Unidos, donde habíamos perdido siempre. Pero durante la Copa Confederaciones 2017 en Rusia, México es eliminado 4-1 ante una Alemania “B”, sin ninguno de sus usuales titulares. México avanza con facilidad rumbo a Rusia 2018, siendo el 4º equipo en el mundo en conseguir su boleto al mundial (después de sufrir en demasía para ir a los mundiales en 2002, 2010 y sobre todo 2014). Solo pierde un partido, el último de todos, en Honduras y ya clasificados. Pero en el camino, otro fracaso más: caemos en semifinales de Copa Oro ante Jamaica, con gol de último minuto. En su preparación rumbo al mundial, México no convence. Hay quienes piden la salida de Osorio, a pesar de estar a semanas de debutar en Rusia. Justo los últimos partidos de preparación, ante Gales, Escocia y Dinamarca, sirven solamente para aumentar las críticas y las dudas. Gente gritando “Fuera Osorio” en el Azteca, en incluso llegando a ser groseros con el colombiano cuando lo tenían en frente. Pero llega el 17 de junio y todo cambia. México, por primera vez en su historia vence a Alemania, 1-0 con un golazo del “Chucky” Lozano. La estrategia de México fue espectacular y precisa, atacando y defendiendo, y todo gracias al trabajo y estudio del DT. Osorio le ganó la partida a Löw, al campeón del mundo. Pero después, el Tri vino a la baja: se gana de manera menos convincente a Corea del Sur, se pierde 3-0 ante Suecia cuando con un empate pasábamos en primero, y Brasil nos elimina en Octavos de Final, misma instancia donde México ha sido eliminado en 7 mundiales seguidos. Ese partido sería el último para el colombiano. México nunca había tenido a alguien con su metodología de trabajo, y ahora, difícilmente se encuentre en el mercado a alguien mejor que él, o por lo menos que logre algo distinto con estos jugadores.

Osorio’s Legacy as Mexico’s Head Coach Juan Carlos Osorio has officially ceased to be the Head Coach of the Mexican National Team. The Colombian was on the job since October 2015, and no is leaving us now with a bittersweet taste, with too much light and darkness, with epic feats but indelible failures. His record of 31 wins, 9 draws and 10 defeats is the most effective one in the history of the National Team (at least 5 games), but he bids farewell without getting a single title, which Herrera, De La Torre, Aguirre, La Volpe, Lapuente, all did. The Osorio era was marked by extremism and exaggeration. He won the first 9 games in charge of El Tri, reaching 806 minutes without conceding a goal (until match No. 8, vs. Uruguay). But the first defeat in its stage will never be forgotten: Chile eliminated us with a resounding and humiliating 7-0 out of the Copa America 2016. In the next 16 games, only one friendly was lost, 4 ties and the rest of the 11 meetings were won, including the transcendental 2-1 victory in Columbus against the United States, where we had always lost. But during the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia, Mexico got eliminated 4-1 against a “B" Germany, without any

Mexico easily advances to Russia 2018, being the 4th team in the world to get their ticket to the world cup (after suffering too much to get into to the World Cup in 2002, 2010 and above all, 2014). He only loses one game, the very last one, in Honduras and already classified. But meanwhile, another failure: we fall in the Gold Cup semifinals against Jamaica, with a lastminute goal. In its preparation for the World Cup, Mexico’s not convincing. Some ask for the departure of Osorio,

despite being within weeks of debuting in Russia. The last matches of preparation, against Wales, Scotland and Denmark, serve only to increase criticism and doubts. People shouting "Fuera Osorio" in the Azteca Stadium, even being rude to the Colombian when they were in front of him. But June 17 arrives, and everything changes. Mexico, for the first time in its history defeated Germany, 1-0 with a great goal by "Chucky" Lozano. Mexico’s strategy was spectacular and precise, both attacking and defending, and all thanks to the work and study from the HC. Osorio won the battle against Löw, the current world champion. But then, El Tri came crumbling down: they beat South Korea in a less convincing way, they lose 3-0 to Sweden even though with a draw we were first, and Brazil eliminated us in the round of 16, the same instance where Mexico had been eliminated in 7 world cups in a row. That match would be the last one for the Colombian. Mexico had never had someone with his work methodology, and now, it won’t be easy to find someone better than him available, or at least that achieves something different with these players.
