Fiesta a las Madres 2do año Celebración de Fiesta a las Madres Orlando, FL - El lunes 30 de abril se llevó a cabo la conferencia de prensa para anunciar por segundo año consecutivo la celebración de Fiesta a las Madres, evento llevado a cabo por la fundadora y gestora de la organización Ser Colombia. Durante la conferencia de prensa la Cónsul de Colombia, Eliana Pedrozo, agradeció a todos los medios presentes y a todas las entidades participantes en el evento tales como: organizaciones de Venezuela, República Dominicana, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, México, Colombia, entre otras. Margarita Parra la fundadora y gestora de la organización, informó que el año pasado pudieron ayudar a Los Niños Quemados y al Hogar Mis Primeros Pasos que recogen niños entre las edades de 0 a 4 años. Este año desean ayudar a impulsar el programa educativo de Ser Colombia y a la
Fundación Hogar Mis Primeros Pasos entre otras entidades. La celebración consistirá de un reconocimiento a 12 madres escogidas en la comunidad. Estas son mujeres que han criado a sus hijos solas y aquellas que han desarrollado entidades que ofrecen servicios sociales. Las madres desfilarán acompañadas de sus niños y se dará una biografía corta de cada una de ellas. También habrá un desfile de modas con la participación de reconocidos diseñadores de Puerto Rico, Colombia, México y Venezuela. El evento se llevará a cabo el sábado, 12 de mayo de 2018, en 3800 S Econlockhatchee Trail Orlando, FL de 5 – 9 PM. Se requiere vestimenta formal y el costo de boletos es de $25. 2nd year Celebration Fiesta a las Madres Orlando, FL - On Monday, April 30, a press conference was held to announce for the second year in a row the celebration of Fiesta a las Madres, an event held by Ser Colombia During the press conference the Colombian Consul, Eliana Pedrozo, thanked all the media present and all the entities participating in the event such as: organizations from Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia among others. Margarita Parra, the founder and manager of the organization informed that last year they were able to help the Los Niños Quemados and the Hogar Mis Primeros Pasos that take children between the ages of 0 to 4 years. This year they want to help boost the educational program of Ser Colombia and the Hogar Mis Primeros Pasos Foundation, among other entities. The celebration will consist of the
recognition of 12 mothers chosen in the community. These are women who have raised their children alone and those who have developed entities that offer social services. Mothers will walk to the stage accompanied by their children and a short biography of each of them will be given. There will also be a fashion show with the participation of renowned designers from Puerto Rico, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela. Three finalists named for KUA Board Kissimmee, FL - The Kissimmee Utility Authority board of directors on Wednesday, May 2nd interviewed five applicants to fill an upcoming vacancy on the five-member volunteer utility board. Salud / Health El Osceola Regional Medical Center abre la Unidad Neonatal Intensiva Nivel III Kissimmee, FL - El Osceola Regional Medical Center ha abierto una Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales (NICU por sus siglas en ingles) de Nivel III de 18 camas, que ofrece el más alto nivel de atención neonatal para bebés, incluso aquellos nacidos a las 24 semanas. El hospital es el único centro médico que ofrece este nivel de atención para niños en el condado Osceola. Osceola Regional Medical Center Open Level III NICU Kissimmee, FL - Osceola Regional Medical Center has opened an 18bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) – offering the highest level of neonatal care for babies, including those born as young as 24 weeks. The hospital is the only medical facility to offer this level of care for children in Osceola County. Osceola Regional transformed its existing 10-bed Level II NICU into a Level III unit, adding eight beds for a new total of 404 beds hospital-wide. The NICU is staffed by Nemours Children’s Health System physicians, who also staff the nursery. Osceola Regional also offers a Pediatric Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists for high-risk pregnancies. Incluso con un diploma en sus manos, todavía hay muchas personas desempleadas. Según una investigación publicada por CNBC en el último año, 1 de cada 3 estudiantes recién graduados no tiene trabajo. These offer faster training at lower costs and cater to a constantly growing market demand. According to the Manufactures Association of Florida, there are more than 5,000 open positions for the manufacturing sector, which means opportunities for people that are ready for them. “This program has given me the opportunity to succeed in life! I now have a career path I will be able to support my family on," says Allysa Snapp CNC, machinist apprentice. Inmigración / Immigration USCIS comenzará a usar un servicio de entrega postal más seguro Washington - El Servicio de Ciudadanía e Inmigración (USCIS, por sus siglas en inglés) anunció que la agencia comenzará a utilizar por fases el Servicio Postal de EE.UU (USPS, por sus siglas en inglés) conocido como Confirmación con Firma de Entrega Restringida para enviar Tarjetas Verdes (Green Card) y otro tipo de documentos seguros a partir del 30 de abril de 2018. La primera fase aplica a los documentos que necesitan volver a ser enviados debido a que fueron devueltos por no haber podido ser entregados. Estos documentos incluyen la Tarjeta de Residencia Permanente (conocida como Green Card), el Documento de Autorización de Empleo, y los documentos de viaje. Los solicitantes que cambiaron su dirección postal durante el proceso de solicitud tienen más probabilidades de que sus documentos seguros se envíen utilizando el nuevo método de entrega, el cual USCIS ampliará a todos los documentos seguros en el futuro. The first phase will affect documents that need to be re-mailed because they have been returned as non-deliverable. These documents include Permanent Resident Cards (also called Green Cards), Employment Authorization Cards, and Travel Booklets. Applicants who have changed mailing addresses during the course of the application process are more likely to have their secure documents sent with the new delivery method, which USCIS will expand to all secure documents in the future.
As part of the new delivery method, applicants must present identification to sign for their documents upon delivery. They also have the option to designate an agent to sign on their behalf by completing the Postal Service’s PS Form 3801, Standing Delivery Order (PDF) or PS Form 3801-A, Agreement by a Hotel, Apartment House, or the Like (PDF). Applicants can sign up for USPS Informed Delivery to receive delivery status notifications. Applicants will also have the option to arrange for pickup at a post office at a convenient date and time by going to the USPS website and selecting “hold for pickup.” Signature Confirmation Restricted Delivery increases the security, integrity, and efficiency of document delivery. The Signature Confirmation Restricted Delivery process provides better tracking and accuracy of delivery information, improving service to applicants. Orlando, FL - Orange County’s Technology and Social Media Workgroup recently met with Mayor Teresa Jacobs to share ideas on digital trends, best practices and community outreach plans for the 2018 State of the County Address. Since being elected in November 2010, Mayor Jacobs has been a staunch advocate for citizen involvement and continues to champion broader technological advances through pioneering web, mobile applications and social media in Orange County. Mayor Jacobs was the first sitting mayor in Florida to feature a Social Media Ambassador program in her 2014 State of the County address. Under Mayor Jacobs leadership, and inspired by the success of the Social Media Ambassador initiative, Orange County’s Technology and Social Media Workgroup was formed. The program brought together local, technology-savvy online influencers and now operates as a think-tank on emerging technologies, social media and mobile applications. The group has expanded to represent a broad range of community partners, municipalities and stakeholders spanning the blogosphere, education, health, technology, hospitality, arts, culture and transportation sectors. Esto puede ser un esfuerzo agotador que involucra un cuidadoso escrutinio de programas veraniegos que ofrezcan enriquecimiento y no solo cuido. Hay que hacer consideraciones presupuestarias, así como coordinar los horarios de todos en la familia. Añada un niño o adulto con discapacidades a esta tarea, y el proceso puede hacer que la cabeza le dé vueltas. Afortunadamente, existe una excelente alternativa para las familias de la Florida Central con niños y adultos con condiciones físicas y de comportamiento asociadas con el síndrome de Down, autismo, perlesía cerebral y otras afecciones del desarrollo. This can be a grueling endeavor that involves carefully sifting through programs to make sure they offer enrichment and not just glorified babysitting. There are budgetary considerations, as well as schedule coordination for the whole family. Add a child or adult with disabilities to this equation, and the process can make heads spin. Fortunately, there is an excellent alternative for Central Florida families with children and adults with physical and behavioral challenges associated with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and other developmental conditions. For almost 50 years, Camp Thunderbird, in Apopka, has offered these individuals opportunities to relax
and learn through immersion in the arts, music, drama, sports and nature walks, among other activities. Above all, the camp provides the ideal environment to make lasting, happy memories in a safe and nurturing environment. “Because of the challenges individuals with disabilities face, it is hard to find services for them in the community,” said John Gill, President and CEO of Quest, Inc. “We seek to fill that void hat with a camp focused 100 percent on them, in which they are the stars. palsy, Tammy looks forward to Camp Thunderbird all year long to reconnect with friends, enjoy nature and have fun. Inclusion week, on July 15-20, places together typical children ages 7-17 with children with disabilities in the same age range. Sheriff - Noticias / News La oficina del sheriff del condado Osceola hace historia Condado Osceola, FL - Martha Gens es la primera mujer en ocupar un puesto de Jefa Adjunta en la oficina del Sheriff del condado Osceola. La jefa Martha Gens nació en New Hampshire y se mudó al condado Osceola en 1977. Luego de graduarse de la Escuela Secundaria Osceola en 1983, comenzó a asistir a clases en Valencia Community College para seguir una carrera en enfermería. En enero de 1988 mientras asistía a la universidad, Gens fue contratada por la Oficina del Sheriff del condado Osceola como Despachador de Comunicaciones 911. Fue en esa posición donde encontró su verdadera vocación como Oficial de la Ley. Mientras trabajaba a tiempo completo como despachador, Gens asistió a la Academia de Policía de Kissimmee, graduándose como la mejor de su clase. Comenzó su carrera patrullando en las calles, luego se convirtió en una oficial de entrenamiento de campo en patrulla. Luego se convirtió en detective trabajando primero en la Unidad de Crímenes Turísticos y luego en la Unidad de Aprehensión Criminal. Osceola County Sheriff's office makes history Osceola County, FL - Martha Gens is the first female to hold a Chief Deputy position at Osceola County Sheriff’s office. Chief Martha Gens was born in New Hampshire and moved to Osceola County in 1977. After she graduated Osceola High School in 1983, she began to attend classes at Valencia Community College to pursue a career in nursing. In January of 1988 while attending college, Chief Gens was hired by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office as a Communications 911 Dispatcher. It was in that position where she found her true calling as a Law Enforcement Officer. While working full-time as a dispatcher, Chief Gens attended the Kissimmee Police Academy, graduating at the top of her class. She started her career on the road in patrol, later becoming a field training officer in patrol. She then became a detective working first in the Tourist Crime Unit and then in the Criminal Apprehension Unit. She then worked in the Criminal Investigation Division where she worked Child Abuse, Sex Crimes and Homicide cases. In 2017 Sheriff Russ Gibson promoted her to Chief Deputy, the second in command and who controls the daily operations of the Sheriff’s Office. Chief Gens is the highest ranked female in the history of the Sheriff’s Office.

On April 20, 2018, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and S.W.A.T. team welcomed 4 new members. Proudly, for the first time in the history, a female officer was one of the graduates. Deputy Michelle Sayers is the first woman to make the specialized team after completing the rigorous testing procedures and was chosen as the team’s newest operator. Sayers has served as a patrol deputy with OCSO for the past 3 years and joined the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in 2015.

Final histórica de Champions League Orlando, FL - Tanto Real Madrid como Liverpool buscan hacer historia. Los Merengues son el primer equipo desde la Juventus (96, 97, 98) en llegar a 3 finales de Champions consecutivas, y busca ser el primer tricampeón desde el Bayern Munich (74, 75, 76). Los blancos son el equipo más veces campeón de este torneo, haciéndolo ya en 12 ocasiones (el Milán es segundo, con 7). Han ganado 6 finales consecutivas de Copa Europea, su última derrota fue en 1981, ante el Liverpool. Los rojos están empatados con el Barcelona y Bayern Munich como los terceros con más Copas Europeas en sus vitrinas, en total 5. Las 17 Champions que suman estos dos es la mayor en la historia de las finales de Champions League. Pero no llegaron de la misma forma. Este Madrid es prácticamente el mismo equipo desde que Zidane como el mando, a inicios de 2016. El pasado verano perdieron a James y a Pepe, pero fuera de ello, eran los mismos jugadores bicampeones de Europa. Pero en enero, la situación era oscura en el cuadro blanco. La liga estaba inalcanzable, la copa del rey, perdida, y la Champions, difícil, al tener que enfrentar al poderoso PSG en Octavos. La palabra “crisis” era usada constantemente.
