Escuela Superior Liberty – Programa Job Shadowing El programa Job Shadowing de la Escuela Superior Liberty le dio la bienvenida a altos ejecutivos de mercadeo del área de la Florida Central como parte del primer panel de discusión para estudiantes el 27 de febrero. The Liberty High School Job Shadowing Program welcomed top marketing executives from the Central Florida area as part of the first panel discussion for students on February 27. Governor Scott made the announcement at Herc Rentals Inc. which, thanks to the hard work of Enterprise Florida (EFI), is expanding its Lee County-based corporate headquarters, creating 122 new jobs. Governor Scott said, “I am proud to announce that Florida’s privatesector businesses created nearly 51,000 new jobs in January. In the last six years, our state has added more than 1.34 million new jobs with help from our economic development organizations like Enterprise Florida that fight for new investment all across our state. Today’s announcement of Herc Rentals adding more than 120 new jobs would not have been possible without the hard work and collaboration of EFI. Unfortunately, politicians in the Florida House last week voted to kill our jobs program– threating great jobs wins like Herc’s expansion in Bonita Springs. We will continue to fight for jobs and ensure Florida remains competitive for major jobs wins that provide opportunities for Florida families.” For the 58th consecutive month, Florida’s annual job growth rate of 3.6 percent is exceeding the nation’s rate of 1.8 percent. NASA - Noticias / News Día de cosecha en la estación espacial La tripulación está cosechando plantas cultivadas en la Estación Espacial Internacional que serán devueltas a la Tierra a bordo del SpaceX Dragon. Además, una variedad de experimentos de estudiantes presentados de escuelas a través de los Estados Unidos fueron activados dentro del laboratorio orbital. Harvest day on station The crew is harvesting plants today grown on the International Space Station that will be returned to Earth aboard the SpaceX Dragon. Also, a variety of student experiments submitted from schools across the United States were activated inside the orbital laboratory. Dragon is due to return to Earth and splash down in the Pacific
Ocean March 19. The resupply ship will carry back gear and science samples for analysis by NASA personnel. Plants that were grown on petri plates for the APEX-04 study will also be returned aboard Dragon. Astronaut Peggy Whitson harvested those plants helping researchers study the molecular changes that plants experience when grown in space.
Future scientists had their experiments activated inside the NanoRacks commercial space research facility aboard the station. Students from five U.S. schools will be exploring ways to reduce infections, improve muscle injury treatments, grow plants on Mars, filter bacteria and solve common slippery surface problems.

2017 Downtown Orlando's Food & Wine Festival Orlando, FL- Like every year for a weekend, Saturday and Sunday, we celebrated at the 2017 Downtown Orlando's Food & Wine Festival. Thirty (30) of the best local restaurants in the city and fifty (50) wine bottlers offered attendees taste buds with ranges from $ 2 - $ 6 to palate their different options. The regular entrance, $20 p/p guaranteed access to different tents, and they also offered a special VIP entry pass.This year we had a lot of restaurants and wine companies, which you could eat and enjoy samples for $ 2, $ 4 and $ 6. From BULLA, the new restaurant in Winter Park (Orange Avenue), which has become very popular with locals, offered small hamburgers "sliders" and a rich Valenciana paella (meat only); fantastic! As I had previously been in BULLA, I already knew of their tasty and exquisite food. CHIPOTLE answered the "call" very nicely, by being the only provider who offered free samples of their chicken or meat tacos. STK offered in its menu small hamburgers with cheese and a delightful truffle sauce. In short, there was a great variety to choose from and everything in an atmosphere of wonderful camaraderie and joy, as there was music from noon until late at night. Different bands and personalities were in downtown Orlando, like Christian Cuevas, our finalist in "The Voice", the best DJ's and the grand finale which was on Sunday with KC and the Sunshine Band. The 2017 Eola Food & Wine Festival was a huge success for everyone, and it continues to bring the best surprises to us all. I cannot wait for 2018! Come join us!

La gastronomía, motor económico de Florida Culinary Arts, an important economic engine Central in Central Florida By: Jeannette Rivera-Lyles Kissimmee, FL- Hay más de 7,000 establecimientos de comida en Florida Central, lo cual hace que los restaurantes sean una parte intrínseca de su vibrante industria turística, así como un motor económico importante para la zona que continúa creciendo y creando trabajos. Pero prepararse adecuadamente es indispensable para crecer en la industria, según el crítico de restaurantes y autor Scott Joseph, quien recientemente ofreció una charla sobre el tema a los estudiantes de Artes Culinarias y Baking & Pastelería del recinto de Kissimmee de Florida Technical College. La charla de una hora se tituló: Críticas Culinarias que te Harán la Boca Agua. “Una industria de restaurantes fuerte y con diversidad de ofertas es un atractivo indispensable para el éxito continuado del turismo en nuestra zona,” dijo Joseph. “Pero el consumidor es cada vez más exigente, con gustos y necesidades dietéticas variadas. Joseph, cuyo blog Scott Joseph's Orlando Restaurant Guide es considerado la biblia gastronómica de nuestra zona, compartió además con los estudiantes que una experiencia positiva en un restaurán va más allá de la comida. De hecho, empieza antes de que el cliente llegue con un concepto creativo debidamente presupuestado, órdenes adecuadas de los productos, un personal de cocina bien calificado y personal de servicio bien entrenado. También es importante tener flexibilidad para acomodar las necesidades dietéticas de los clientes. But proper education is imperative to growing in the industry, according to restaurant critic and author Scott Joseph, who recently discussed this topic with Florida Technical College’s Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastelería program students at the college’s Kissimmee campus. The one-hour event was titled: Culinary Reviews So Good You Can Taste Them. "A strong restaurant industry with diverse offerings is an indispensable element for the continued success of tourism in our area," said Joseph. "The consumer is becoming more demanding, with diverse tastes and dietary needs. Hence, the labor of a restaurateur must be much more sophisticated than it was before. It must be an educated workforce. " The director of the FTC Culinary Arts program, Alex Martínez Zayas, stressed that keeping up with new market trends is equally important. "The education of a culinary professional never ends," said Martínez Zayas. "We need to stay informed, learn new techniques and evolve with the industry to stay relevant. This is a very important principle we live by and teach to all of our students." FTC’s culinary programs are accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation,
the largest professional chefs’ organization in North America. Joseph, whose blog Scott Joseph's Orlando Restaurant Guide is considered the culinary bible of our area, also shared with the students that a positive experience in a restaurant goes beyond food. In fact, it starts before the customer arrives with the development of a creative concept, appropriate selection of products, a well-qualified kitchen staff, and well-trained service personnel. It is also important to have flexibility to accommodate the dietary needs of clients and have a reasonable budget that enables the business to survive. Exploradores de oficina del Sheriff ganan premios en competencia de primavera Condado Osceola, FL -Los miembros de oficina Explorer Post 816 del Sheriff del Condado Osceola participaron recientemente en el 2017 Florida Sheriff Explorer Asociación (FSEA) competencia que tuvo lugar en el Condado León. Durante el fin de semana, los exploradores compitieron en un concurso de armas de fuego y un desafío de equipo. Durante la competencia de arma de fuego, Leslie Aragón fue el segundo en la división de tirador de la categoría 22. Sheriff's Office Explorers win awards at Spring Competition Osceola County,FL- Recently, members of the Osceola County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post 816 participated in the 2017 Florida Sheriff's Explorer Association (FSEA) Competition which took place in Leon County. During the weekend, the Explorers competed in a firearms competition and a team challenge. During the firearm competition, Leslie Aragon placed second in the Marksman division of the .22 category. Josue Urena place second and Aaron Martinez placed first in the Sharpshooter division of the 9mm category. Martinez and Urena also secured the High Team Award for the 9mm category. For the team fitness challenge, the Osceola Explorers placed fourth out of fifteen teams.
The FSEA delegates brings Explorer posts from across Florida together to compete and/or train in the following categories: Firearms, Unknown Risk Traffic Stops, Crime Scene Investigations, Officer Down, Domestic Violence, In-Progress Calls, and Building Searches. Currently, there are 30 Explorers in the Osceola County Sheriff's Office Explorer Program which works with teens and young adults ages 14-21. The program allows participants the opportunity to learn and experience lawful citizenship as they work alongside Sheriff's deputies in ongoing training and community service projects. The program emphasizes responsibility, leadership, teamwork and self-reliance.
